I am coming up on a year at my current job and although it is just fine I know I’m capable of more. I worked at WalMart in my hometown for three years on Cap 2 unloading freight trucks, using electric pallet jacks, sorting groceries off the truck, and scanning inventory. That’s a very brief summary of what I did but it was always very fast paced. I also stocked of course and helped customers. Then I moved out here and transferred stores working OGP which was online grocery pickup. That’s pretty self explanatory in itself. That backroom was fast paced as well and I picked, packed, and distributed orders at a very fast pace. Luckily I got out of there before summer came. Heh I briefly pet sat where I watched dogs and cats. I’d feed them, walk them, and play with them. I’m currently at a hotel where I take the phone, meet guest requests in pre-arrival and during their time here, check people in and out, manage reservations, and have basic reception duties. I also have worked the breakfast kitchen a few times. While I’ve been here at the hotel I’ve picked up a few event security shifts where I usually do bag checks.
I come to Reddit with this request because I find that it is filtered out in a way where people are open to having and creating meaningful and relevant conversation and connections. Personally I’ve met people where I would have never come across otherwise.
In my personal life I frequently go to local emo/rock shows. Although I am an ESTP I prefer to attend these events solo so I am not pre occupied on whether or not my guest is enjoying the show. In a way I am going to these events with the intent to socialize and put myself out there organically. I have talked to many strangers in this life and it is something that gives me a rush. My passions lie in creativity which for me include baking, writing, reading, and film photography. I love nothing more than a Half Price Book Store. I have a reading and writing brain rather than a math and science brain. I had fun switching avenues from back breaking retail to hospitality and I’m ready to make another switch.
I'm currently looking to move away from my current shop where I've been managing, doing email, and booking 7 to 8 artists on my own for the past 5 or 6 years. I've come to love and really appreciate the tattoo community and didn't necessarily want to leave it completely. I want to start listing my services but I don't really know where to start and popular virtual assistant apps don't really have a specific tattoo industry section. If you're an artist in the area would this be something you'd be interested in?
Hi there! I've been applying and interviewing for CSM roles for 6 months with no offers yet and want to give Reddit a try. I have 4 years of enterprise B2B healthcare SaaS experience managing clients throughout their entire lifecycle including technical implementation, onboarding, escalations, cross-sells, and in general making sure they get "stickier" with the product so they stay forever. I worked with offshore engineers in India on a weekly basis for years on product enhancement scoping and data migration projects. I wrote internal and external product documentation including knowledge base articles and demoed the software regularly.
I'm currently project managing (part time) a healthcare industry specific audit so I have those skills as well although project management is less exciting to me. I view PM as a necessary skill to be able to do any job function well and see things through to the finish line.
I'm passionate about women's health, addressing social determinants of health, food is medicine, sustainability, ethical AI use to streamline work operations and reduce administrative burden, cybersecurity, and software development.
I'm ready for my next professional challenge that rewards hard work and meaningful impact. I would love to work for a growth stage company implementing processes to support an influx of clients.
Please DM me if you know of any openings and I'm happy to send my LinkedIn page!

Hello all,
I'm seeking any temp opportunities or projects someone needs help on for a few days. I'm in between two jobs at the moment and $350 short on rent, was hoping taxes would've helped me out but it doesn't seem like it's going to deposit in time to avoid late payment.
I'm not the strongest guy out there but I'm not weak by any means. I'm good at working with my hands and have good problem-solving skills. I have reliable transportation but it is not a truck or a van, just a 4dr sedan. Most of my skills are automotive and computer related but I'm a quick learner and can pick up new things fast. I've been trying to do gig-work in the meantime but it seems to be very slow this time of year and I'm ending up spending more on gas than I'm making doing food deliveries. If anyones looking for an extra set of hands for a few days I'm your guy!
Hello! I’m currently looking for a part-time job in the 78724 area. Let me know if there are any opportunities available!
Hello! I applied for a role at the main office in Austin and I'm wondering the timeline for the hiring process. I know every role is different but I just wanted to know a ballpark range of when they get back to you and IF they actually get back to you or is it one of those companies that you constantly have to log into the candidate portal to see if you've been rejected or not? Thanks
Obviously it depends greatly on where you are working, but how much would you estimate you make per week in tips? This includes your busy, high action days as well as the slower mundane days. What type of restaurant do you work in?
I'm moving from out of state and would love to get an idea.
Also if you don't mind sharing, what's your hourly? I've heard like $2, just wondering if that's the case for all servers.
Thanks!
Hi, I am a bartender in Austin who is looking for the next path, in my mid 30s and I figure now is the time to make the switch. I have been looking at the process of becoming an electrician, but I figured posting here wouldn’t hurt in regards to asking what fields and trades are in demand and what fields and trades can be easily moved on to other states, as I don’t know that I intend on staying in Austin for more than five years until my partners 401k vests in about that time.
I am not particularly adept at math, however I am fairly committed to studying and learning the right things, and I would much rather work with my hands then with a computer - what fields are the best to break into knowing these factors?
Thank you to all those who read and reply.
Sate Texas is starting to get busy and we have a couple of PT openings. Check out our Jobs page for more info.
Not quite sure if I can post here
I received an interview invitation from Texas Association of Community Colleges... Would like to know how is the work environment? How about the interview (any tips about preparation)? Would also like to know about anyone's work experiences. I have never been to Austin (would also like to know more about the city); I don't know what to expect or how to prepare, it makes me nervous.....
Not sure if this is the proper thread to post in but giving it a shot. I need a civil engineer to help with subdivision and platting process. From my recent experiences the larger firms don’t tend to deal with standard single lots as they’re used to large projects here. If anybody has recommendations/suggestions please let me know.
Does anyone know if Tesla tests for THC if you’re going for a job in their AP section? I finished the interview process, now am into the drug test. Trying to figure out if I need to use fake pee.
I'm trying to relocate with tesla to the gigafactory in austin. I've messaged every recruiter that shows up on the work chat app and nobody is responding. I'm hoping someone here might know or have any idea when they will start hiring again for production associates. If anyone knows anything please respond. 🙏
Which district is the best? And I say “best” very loosely. Would love to hear about some somewhat positive experiences :)
Can anyone confirm that the Texas Dept of Agriculture has a hiring freeze now? Did the Governor or Sid Miller impose this this? Thank you for the information.

Hi!
I am new to Austin, and have recently acquired my bachelor's in architecture from TAMU (I know, I know). Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has ANY job leads- preferably full-time. I have applied to many jobs so far and am currently serving, however, the money isn't enough to pay the bills and I feel like I am not being pushed to my true capabilities. I also play guitar and bass and really want to start a band, I am open to networking with any prospective creatives. I really am willing to do anything, even blue-collar work at this point just something fulfilling; I want to contribute to creation OR at least make some damn good money. I did well in school and its a shame I have nothing to show for it (except a diploma, as of this moment)- If anyone has ANY leads I am all ears. Thanks for reading :-)
Hi y’all. I moved to Austin a couple months ago for a postdoc. With the federal grant pauses and cuts, I’ve gotten a little wake-up call. I don’t want to end up unemployed and I’m scared about the future of academic science. I’ve been thinking about going into industry anyways, but I’m gunna start applying now.
I have pretty extensive experience in bioinformatics, molecular techniques, microbial analyses, transcriptomics, etc. I know thermofisher has offices here, and I’m going to apply, but I’m hoping I can get a couple of leads here too. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or advice? I appreciate anything.
Hi! I am a 26 year old who just graduated last October with a certificate in medical coding. I haven’t had much luck finding companies who hire entry level. I currently work at an orthopedic clinic as a front desk and i feel like it’s a waste of my education. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can find something along those lines with decent ish pay? Thank you in advance.
Long time paramedic leaving EMS field looking for alternate employment. Associate's degree, medical interpreter certificate from U.T. North Austin preferred.
So tomorrow I have a group interview with this delivery service in Buda. I was wondering if anyone worked for this company or heard of it? There aren’t too many reviews on indeed. Also, I was kind of considering if it was a scam? But also not because the interview is at the Amazon warehouse and they are a DSP for Amazon. Anything would be helpful. I can’t tell what is and what is NOT a scam these days.

I’m a full time vet tech but I’m wanting another job (part time) on weekends to stay busy and bring in some extra money.
Does anyone have recommendations? I’ve been interested in waitressing but I don’t have any restaurant experience so I’ve been turned away multiple times.
I’ve applied to multiple Starbucks recently (mostly to take advantage of their free college program through ASU)
I’d prefer something remote, I’m just having trouble finding anything. Please let me know if y’all have any tips! I have experience as a receptionist as well.
I need BCBS to access a particular provider.
Does anyone know of employers who offer BCBS?
If I wanted to call all companies anonymously, what's the title of the person who would be best to ask about this (presumably everyone knows their health insurance)?
I am a project manager and have experience in sales and as business analyst.
EDIT: I don't want to work for government.
Hi, I'm needing some advice and support. I was raised in Austin in a very strict homeschooled household with no education due to being a woman. I didn't start learning to read and write properly until I was in my early 20's thanks to some GED classes. I've been struggling to stay afloat living in Austin and trying to start my own business but I'm struggling to get things off the ground. I want to get into personal chef work and maybe even house cleaning. I lost my nanny job 3 months ago and have run out of savings and really need to find a new job but it's been hard to find. If anyone have advice or has started a similar business let me know! I'm also looking to make more connections in the community and have been thinking about hosting a potluck or volunteering if anyone is interested!
Hey ya'll, I am new in town but have over a decade of experience working in all types of restaurants, with a specialization in coffee, wine and spirits. Looking for a morning position, does anyone have some leads?

Right now I’m going through a health scare and wondering if it’s related to my work. Well how much of it is rated to my work.
I guess I’m going to try and get a clean bill of health and look for different options. It’s just going to take time. Problem is I get my health insurance through my work.
But yeah, idk what to do about it. What if it turns out to be something serious?
