Recently I have found about the existance of Dobrujan Tatars and it made me wonder if many only speak Romanian nowadays, or if they know how to speak Tatar as well.
It made me also wonder if there are any Dobrujan Tatar songs and what they sound like.
Thanks in advance
Because of their imperalistic nationalism mindset?
I read a article Anti-Russian sentiment much higher especially Poland, Baltic countries, Finland, Norway than other European countries
I ask this question because I believe that Balkan people in particular are experts who understand the mindset of imperialism and nationalism well. what do Balkaners think about Russian mindset? Is the Russian mentality really a threat to Europe?
I’m planning to visit Bucharest with my girlfriend for 5 days around New Year’s Eve, and I’ve noticed that accommodation prices are surprisingly low compared to other neighboring capitals I’ve checked out, like Belgrade, Budapest, Ljubljana, or Zagreb.
I’ve found places for as little as €30 per night, which seems almost too good to be true. Is this normal for Bucharest, or is there something I should be cautious about? I’d really appreciate any insights. Thanks!
I've had Macedonian cyrillic downloaded on my phone since it has gy, ly, dz, ny, ty and dzs, but it doesn't have ö, ő, ü, ű, é, ó, and á in it. Are there any cyrillic alphabets tha fit hungarian completely? I'm guessing slovak is the closest slavic latin alphabet.

I'm interested in the history and current perception of the ottoman empire in the balkans. how do people there view the period of Ottoman rule today? while modern turks offten glorify the ottoman era, i'm curious about how it's viewed in the balkans. are certain aspects of that time seen as positive or negative? thanks in advance🩷
Does the church ever continue to use Slavonic or Slavic alphabet in a liturgical context?
More specifically what are your thoughts on the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine? Do you think this will affect the policies of the Balkans or there would be indifference to it?
In the year 2000, GDP of Germany was as large as this entire map: Russia, Central Asia, Turkey, Yugo, Greece, Middle East, Arabia, and half of Maghreb, Israel...
By the year 2015, Only Turkey and Red was needed for the equivalency
2024, not even Turkey is needed anymore

But, for some people, this is Normal and the West keeps winning
Europe vs Asia, what happened?
-------------
Europe vs Africa
In 2000, the Entire Africa was like Spain
In 2015, it was like Italy
Today? Africa = France

Young people cannot comprehend how strong Europe used to be
Don’t get me wrong I love my parents a lot I just wish I didn’t experience some of the things I did while growing up which mind you I grew up with Tourette’s and high anxiety which eventually passed, at the time it was a combination of mental and verbal abuse constantly, the comparisons to other peoples children and their idea of what they deem worth my time and what isn’t and what isn’t worth my money, mind you I’m 20 by now and am in college for network engineering and don’t really deal with a lot of the issues like before aside from the constant comparisons to other balkan families here and the belittling of my own hobbies I like and the whole idea of me talking to for an example a Serb is still heavily discouraged in my family(I’m Bosnian/Macedonian/Bulgarian)even though at times Iv seen my family meet other Serbs in such a kind way but yet sometimes they speak in a very hateful way towards them which I genuinely don’t understand why, i understand my dad grew up during the war as a child and lost many family members to the Serbs but I just don’t think that type of thinking let alone holding a grudge will get any of us anywhere, what was your experience?
Is it national ass burn week?
Hi all, non-Balkan observer here. I know quite a bit about the Balkan (and not so Balkan) region, including how characteristic of this region are ethnic or religious (or both) enclaves. That said, it was more recently that I learned some cities and towns of note in your region are still "segregated" in a way to this very day, in the sense that for example a city is divided into two halves populated mostly by people of a certain sociological collective. Sarajevo is by far the most known example of this occurence, but I also heard of some other cases like Mostar and Shkoder. There might be actually loads of examples that I'm missing. Or maybe not. Can any of you mention additional examples that you know about? Thank you
After reading this post regarding which country in the Balkans has the worst dressed men, I'm curious as to what people consider well dressed.
So, as the title says, what is considered "well dressed" in your country? What do you consider well dressed in your opinion?
I visit Serbia every year, and I noticed that the air quality is odd this year. There's some fog outside and it smells like smoke everywhere. Does anyone know why the air is like this?
hello friendly Balkans. I picked up this pretty little sculpture at a local thrift shop in Cape Town and would love to figure out what the writing underneath says. Unfortunately the letters are quite faded but I'm hoping they might look familiar to anyone here. I would be grateful for any feedback, especially if someone can make a stab at translating some of words.
I have seen so many people on pro-Palestine celebrating his victory claim that he is pro-Palestine and will sanction Israel unlike the current government, is this true?
