A place to ask for music suggestions and help others discover something new.
Please read the rules before posting:
Hopefully this will insure that your suggestion gets seen by the right people and everyone’s searches will hopefully be more fruitful.
If you can, try to stay away from trending/Top 100 songs. Most of us are probably aware of them.
If you're after Anime instead of music, there's a subreddit for that! (/r/animesuggestions has what you're looking for.)

I don't know how else to really describe it, except maybe ritual music you might hear in a Satanic temple or that mansion from Eyes Wide Shut.
Songs similar to --
Lisa Gerrard - Gloradin
Jocelyn Pook - Masked Ball
Stuff like that.
Suggest songs with theme of reminiscing the past and your beauty gone with it. On top of my head, something like Memories from Cats Musical, or Lana del Rey's Young and Beautiful. TY!
Hello, I'm looking for songs similar to some tracks in Cyberpunk 2077 OST. A few tracks to mention: Voodoo Boys theme, Atlantis, Contra La Luna, Apex Predators, Valentino's theme. I believe what I'm looking for is along the lines of industrial techno and dark ambient but correct me if that's wrong. Where can I find similar music? Which genre(s) are these music?
Does anyone have a song that makes them feel fuzzy or nostalgic but you have no real life relation to it. Mine is web in front by archers of lost but I wasn’t alive in 1993 and found this song three years ago. I just feel it in my stomach when I listen to it and I almost feel like it’s making me sad/nostalgic for something that I didn’t experience. It’s a bit hard to explain
I'm looking for song recommendations that are slow and soothing with minimum instruments used.
I have Solitude by Black Sabbath, Lay it Down Slow by Amazing Grace, Dust in The Wind by Kansas.
Need more of these kinds of songs (preferably from rock artists) to help me go into Zen Mode.
My friends are really into reggae songs when we hang out and dance when they get the buzz. The songs they dance to consist of artists like Rebelution, Stick Figure, Tribal Seeds, Inner Circle, and Kolohe Kai.
It would be better if you could suggest individual songs rather than the name of the artists since some of them tend to focus on chill vibes rather than a "disco party" (e.g. Bob Marley).
Some of the reggae-esque songs I have in my playlist that they enjoyed are; 1) Skrillex - Make It Bun Dem, 2) Sublime - Santeria, 3) Alfons - Ganjaman, and 4) Skindred - Nobody. These particular songs aren't reggae but are somehow "danceable" for them while keeping a little bit of that reggae vibe.
You can also recommend similar songs from above even if they're not reggae-specified but still have that style.
Thank you in advance!
I’ll put the playlist link here when I’m done!
What are your thoughts on the absolute best album(s) and why? What makes an album great?
What I mean by this is like... music (preferably without lyrics) that uses stuff like gears, clanking metal, drill sounds, hissing steam (etc) to create music. There could still be traditional instruments in between (honestly, I think having all the instruments be machines would sound a little painful).
I've been looking through "Industrial" artists, such as Z'EV, Throbbing Gristle, etc (basically going through the wiki page for Industrial music) but many of these sound too experimental or rough for me.
At the risk of sounding like a normie, I'm looking for something more "vanilla," that is - traditionally appealing - just with a bunch of cool, tech-y, mechanical and industrial sounds added in. Nothing too off the rails.
Actually, for a good example of what I'm talking about, look up Tower of Guns' soundtrack, specifically "Evaluation" and "Induction," I'm looking for more stuff that sounds like this.
I like let me be sad by I prevail and yesterday by the beetles.
What are some songs about hearing the voice within or answering a higher calling? Any genre is good.
Two I like are Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel and Southern Cross by CSN.
What do you listen to when you just want the world to burn.
My two submissions…
Yer Blues - The Dirty Mac

Dead Bitches - FBG Duck
I am 27 and I can't list the music I like. I don't have much I listen to that I'm passionate about, my phone is full of random music I know through friends or the internet but none of its mine? Before my brain injury, I used to sing and dance. I know music moved me to the point of synesthesia.
How do I find what music I like, when there's so much out there? Where do i start? I try to listen to the radio and it seems repetitive.
I don't know how to write this, I'm sorry.
Suggest me some songs that perfectly describe what depression feels like to you. I'll try my best to give suggestions a listen.
For me there is absolutely no contest. I've battled depression for as long as I can remember and for me the song that describes how it feels the best is shattered by currents. Its metalcore, but even if that isnt your cup of tea I would encourage you to give it a listen with the lyrics.
Popular songs that have become niche or faded into existence. Mine is Air that I Breathe - The Hollies
Both are 90s Japanese rock bands. But I'm looking for similar IN ENGLISH. Similar bands or the genre name, but not vague genres like "japanese rock", "visual kei" or "pop rock".
Bands like Tattle Tale, Rasputina. Also love “Strings” by Kristin Hersh.
I love minimal music with strong vocals that carry the tune.
Examples include “save me” by Kimbra, “Fool Of Me” by Meshell Ndegeocello, “Do What You Gotta Do” by Roberta Flack, and “Harvest Moon” cover by Cassandra Wilson.
All these songs give me shivers. Would love some suggestions of something similar!
What are some of your favourite bands from outside of your home country? (Mostly meaning English native countries like the US and Canada and UK)
I kinda wanna see what countries people know most?
France - Gojira, Justice
Nigeria - Fela Kuti
Sweden - Opeth, Meshuggah, Dungen
Finland - Insomnium
Iceland - Sigur Ros, Bjork, Mum
Spain - Toundra
I spose there aren't a ton that I've listened to, but then to hit in the west it has to be in english or mostly instrumental ...
Anyways what are some of your faves?
