Camera recommendation for use with SGI Indigo2

I have a Silicon Graphics Indigo 2 with all of the video hardware (Galileo, CosmoCompress, breakout box), but I don't have any cameras to use with it. The breakout box is pictured here:

http://www.sgistuff.net/hardware/systems/images/indigo-galileobob-1004.jpg

I'm looking for a camera recommendation to use with this, just for playing around with the video ecosystem, nothing serious. Ideally something smaller, with decent-ish video quality. I don't need typical camcorder features like tape recording or battery power. Any thoughts on what might work (and not be incredibly rare)?

Charge port question

Hi all,

I've got a Canon Canovision 8mm E61 camcorder that has everything except the for CA-100 battery charger. It does have the DC-100 battery eliminator that is supposed to plug into the charger.

Does anyone know the specific jack size on the CA-100 that this eliminator plugs into? If I can determine this, I should be able to build an adaptor for it.

VTG228 video titler plus help

Hello there, I wanted to post this to see if anyone could be of help, I bought this VTG228 video titler but can’t figure out how to work it, all the videos I have seen show some kind of box grid and I can’t get that to appear. Im not sure if it is broken but the seller tested the item before selling it. I wanted to know if anyone has any advice, I’ve tried multiple cables for the input/output and everything seems ok but it seems like the keyboard buttons aren’t responding, any information helps I really don’t want to have to return this item.

Does anyone know where I can get this tv?

I saw an 80s Japanese ad online for this TV and want to use it for branding for my band. I translated the advertisement "The TV that was a big hit at the Berlin and Chicago shows has arrived in Japan. A round TV. You can watch it as you like, whether you're lying down, hanging it on the wall, or driving around, it's a TV that you can watch as you like, with a rotating type that surpasses the Padikle. You'll want to have it all to yourself. "Victor TV Cabinet A 9T-11 type Standard price 38,000 yen (unit 37,700 yen, earphones 300 yen) Snow Brand Milk Products" thanks!

Newvicon Camcorders - DIN cable?

Hi everyone. Not sure if I'm posting in the right place but I was planning to purchase a Newvicon Camcorder (either the magnavox, or panasonic 958) and I noticed that the cable that comes out of the camcorder is a DIN/Serial cable which power/video travel across. I also found out that these DIN cables are plugged into a VTS which records onto a VHS but lose track of how the power is delivered to it. Is it a standard AC cable, or does it need to run through a tuner?

Also, has there been a cable which can convert/separate the serial connect to RCA and Power? New to this, and really loving the newvicon tube effect. I would power it with a milwaukee battery and power supply for portability

3/4 VO-2810 Sony U-Matic video recorder: No Signal!

I bought a Sony VO 2610 from ebay, listed as: "Tested and runs great", -- when i connected it up, the motor and mechanicals all seem find, the audio meters move and i can hear on head phones, but the monitors display NO SIGNAL. ... i tried both the BNC out to RCA into my Up Scaler to my capture device, and also tried the video out (co-axial) into a recent TV flat screen.. but get NO SIgnal. A friend cleaned the tape heads, but said he things it's a problem with the machine, but the seller claims it worked when he sent it, and referred me to a youtube video which suggest I need to buy a 1980's era Pinnacle capture card. Anyone??? Anything??

this is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOLYvLNL96Q&pp=ygUydHJhbnNmZXJyaW5nIHUtbWF0aWMgMy80IHZpZGVvIGNhc3NldHRlIHRvIGRpZ2l0YWw%3D

I'd really appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Thanks

Anyone recognize the A/V equipment used in the "fly" scene in the movie The Ring?

In the original (well, the first American version, rather) of The Ring movie, there's a scene where she goes to a professional A/V editing lab/store or something, to try to get more information off the VHS. The clerk tells her its all totally analog gear, a real beast, and takes her to a wall of what seems to actually be a bunch of different equipment being used together. Slightly before my time, but I know that several things Noah and the A/V clerk mention about VHS "tracking", and the whole idea that you could somehow reveal a whole new image by pulling the tape real hard and trying to see wayy over at the very edge... lol. Along with other tech-jargon, the movie isn't always super accurate. But she mentions the "Tracking, monitor, printing..." like it's all harmoniously set up to work together with a display and detailed controls, which I'm sure in some capacity could have been, and was, pulled off with similarly beastly stacks of gear.

I'm sure they might have used generic props for the movie to avoid branding issues, but anyone know of any *similar* specific brands and models or, anything that would actually give me some useful search results in learning about this stuff? I'm coming up with NOTHIN, even when referencing the movie in searches. I know a lot of what's in this scene is probably filler, a lot of CRTs and VHS players, probably 8 tracks, I see some random reel to reel looking things just placed around. But I have hope that SOME of this was at least closely based on specific machines.

Some screencaps, which haven't been much help either, as reverse image searching goes - but believe you me, the irony was not lost on me that I just spent several minutes doing...exactly what Rachel is doing in this scene. "Come on, come on, show me something useful..." *pause* *rewind* *forward* *pause* *what the f...* *print* *rewind*

Pictures of cassette loading mech for Hitachi DA4 MX423?

I'm trying to fix this model of VCR, but the cassette carriage seems to be binding. I can't seem to get the black plastic thing on the side in the right position with respect to the white half-gear cam thing (You'd have to see it to know what I'm talking about) and I've been trying to match them up different ways, but I'm concerned I'll break a plastic part thus creating more problems. I have the cassette carriage separated from the "movement" so to speak, and the movement is already in the full eject position.

Can anyone tell me anything about this?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I stumbled across some old school broadcasting equipment. Specifically a Sony BVH-3000 song with some other video recording machines. Anyone have any info on these or know what they’re worth if anything?

Video system in Led Zeppelin's "Starship"

The Starship was the jet used by the band Led Zeppelin for the 1973 and 1975 North American concert tours. "Led Zeppelin" was sprayed onto the plane but by 1975, it was changed to a blue and red scheme with the smaller Led Zeppelin logo on the fuselage. The seating capacity is forty, including revolving arm chairs and tables. There is a thirty foot long couch opposite the bar, a television set, a video cassette player, a video library, and an electronic organ.

My question is what was that video system they were watching movies before VHS and Betamax? Was it U-matic or something else?

Experiments with old vtrs and digitalization - EIAJ-8 E8M

I'm looking for alternatives for a U-Matic vtr that is used to digitally archive old tapes from the local TV station. The vtr connector, the one which uses the EIAJ-8 standard, has got some very hard to find and expensive cables an I was wondering...could it be possible to use a more common connector? Like using a serial 9-pin one? The pinout is compatible with the SCART standard if I remember correctly so it would be possible, in theory, to wire a custom cable and to use it without any other modification.

Am I right? Or I'm missing something in the though process?

I filmed the launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch out of Vandenberg SFB at sunset on April 1,2024.

This was filmed from western Arizona using a Panasonic AG-DVC30P MiniDV camcorder.
