1. No Hate Speech

This is a good community and we would like to keep the good vibes all around. Posting or commenting aggressive or insulting comments could be cause for a ban.

Basically - treat others kindly! If anyone has been harassing you, please message the mods and we will take the appropriate steps.

2. All posts must be related to the band or people acquainted with them.

This includes the core 4 and others like Ariel Rechtshaid, Jenny Lewis, etc

3. No Invasively Personal Conjecture or Paparazzi-Style Posts.

We allow the personal content that anyone in VW chooses to share publicly to the world. It's cool to personal information WHEN it's been announced, by him. What isn't cool is the tabloid gossip rag-stuff that was being posted. Likewise, if Ezra wants to come out about more details about his relationship with Rostam, in a Beats 1 interview, sure let's chat around that. But speculating crosses the line.

4. Self-promotion is fine, but only in comments, where relevant. Don't spam.

Feel free to showcase your art or covers but keep selling to the comments section.

5. All Works Need Credit Posted.

We take plagiarism very seriously and is a bannable offense.

Feel free to post another person's work but there needs to be credited to the original artist.

6. No Spam Posts.

We understand that you might see something that reminds you of VW out in the wilderness but if it doesn't directly relate to the band, please don't post it.

Please think before you post.

7. No Unofficially Released Material.

All music linked from the band must be official releases. This includes linking to other subreddits where you might be able to find it.

If the album or singles leak, we will make a spoiler thread but asking for a leak or sharing it here could be a bannable offense.

Some thoughts on the Amsterdam show

I was blown away by the concert this past sunday and am honestly still kinda buzzing from it. Definitely was all day yesterday so wanted to share some musings.

Truly one of the best and most profoundly moving live experiences I have ever had and it gave me all sorts of feelings and thoughts on the band. Obviously they sounded amazing but I genuinely think they are at their most comfortable they have ever been. As a band, as live performers and at what stage they are in their career.

They played the entirety of OGWAU save for Pravda which I think says a lot about how they as well as us the fans feel about the record. Theyre now 5 albums deep and their relationship with their older stuff is also something special. Like, Bambina as a grunge version, what other band even does that AND is then able to pull that off? I came of age in the 00s indie revival and have been a fan since their debut and imo none of their contemporaries of that era can, thats for sure. Maaaaybe Arctic Monkeys but imo thats a seperate discussion, they seem to have a very different relation to their early stuff.

Theres a longevity to the band and they really came into their own. Like a fine wine. Its not like theyre a legacy act still coasting off their greatest hits.

This is all cemented by how they approach the encore. To be like alright guys technically our job here is done but now weve come back to just hang around, shoot the shit and dick around on stage for a bit. It shows a level of confidence or something thats really unique. Again, what other band even does that? Ive always been a huge fan but man that show gave me a whole renewed appreciation foe them as artists. Just, wow.

If you're still reading thanks for hearing out my ramblings. Curious to hear other ppls thoughts.

autistic vw fans check in!

running into a couple outspoken fellow autistics on this sub and wondering how common it is for autistic ppl to like VW/what percentage of the fandom is autistic and whether there's anything unique about VW which might make it appealing to autistic people. (my guess: niche historical/geographical references, sometimes rather neurodivergent-coded stage presence from Baio, Rostam, and Ezra (not headcanoning real people just saying they are relatable to me onstage in ways a lot of other musicians are not bc autism), satisfying train and synth noises but would be curious if others agree or disagree)

Mary Boone clips from live shows for someone who missed out!?

I left the UK in November to spend half a year travelling which is of course amazing and a dream but means I had to sell my ticket to see the guys when they came to London last week - does anyone have any footage from this leg of the tour they could direct me to?

I’m staving off the fomo by living off of the memories of seeing them last time they played here in 2019 but am craving that sweet Mary Boone live hit!

Unexpected VW head - Richard Osman

(Non-UK heads might not know Richard Osman, but he's a very famous and well-liked TV presenter here)

I was listened to The Rest is Entertainment podcast that Richard Osman co-hosts and they were discussing Spotify Wrapped - it turns out Richard's most listened to artist was VW. (Episode from 12th Dec, about 11 minutes in).

I wonder if he was at any of the London shows? He's England's tallest man, so someone should have spotted him if he was there!

Kind vibes

Last night, during the show in Amsterdam, my partner felt sick and overwhelmed in the crowd. She told me she was OK and would just need to get some air, so I let her go on her own. Afterwards, she told me that she actually felt worse than she thought, and ended up stumbling and almost fainting on her way out the doors. Luckily, one woman in the crowd helped her out and got the attention of the crew members. If you're here, thank you for helping her! Thank you also to the crew who gave her water, somewhere to sit, and checked up on her! Real kind vibes!

Does anyone have a recording of Connect on the second night in London Brixton?

I've been waiting for someone to upload it to YouTube or on here, because Ezra looked at me longer than usual during that song because I was holding a sign I had made and I pretty much blacked out and don't remember the words he sang at me. Would love to get a reminder!

I wanna hear No One Knows by QOTSA. What's the best way to ask for a cover?

Seeing them tonight in Amsterdam and I think that song would be super fun. What's the best way to ask? Instagram? Posters?

A long shot- Netherland show favor

The TL;DR: I saw VW recently and forgot to get something for my brother, I checking to see if there is any way someone attending one of their upcoming shows might pick a one/ potentially two of their signed LP's for me. Again, a long shot.

So I was lucky enough to see VW this past Wednesday at 02 brixton, It was my first time finally getting the chance them after waiting for about idk 15 years. This particular week I was just overwhelmed with a housing matter that's been bringing me down lately and the deadline was for this Friday (thank god it's passed).

Anyway, my brother was the one who introduced me to VW when we were in high school. He experienced a tragedy a few years back and so no longer lives in London, otherwise we would have gone together. He's still never managed to see them. I am travelling to see him later this week and of course only after this crazy week passed did it occur me to get a signed LP for him (or myself for that matter).

The show was amazing, and I wish I could give him something from the show. I considered going to the second night but it was totally sold out- then today I have even been thinking about going to the show in the NL tomorrow but logistically it would just be really challenging.

I know this is long shot, but I am basically writing to see if anyone who is going to NL show would be kind enough to pick up 1 or even more optimistically 2 of their signed LP's for me? Obviously I am happy to pay for everything e.t.c. I realise it's pretty unrealistic, but I just feel I have to ask.

I am also open to any kinda suggestions to get him something nice like that. Thanks :)

Discog ranking cos why not

Seeing the lads tomorrow in Amsterdam, it'll be the 6th time i see them. Listened to the 5 albums today in order and thought I'd throw out a current personal ranking. Feel free to agree, disagree and give us yours. Mine will definitely change over the years. They're a class act, vampire weekend. Fairplay and hope you're doing well!!

Joint 4th place - contra and father of the bride

I wholeheartedly love a few songs from both albums (taxi cab, giving up the gun, unbearably white, Jerusalem my Berlin), like most of the others, and dislike a few. Both very enjoyable albums

3rd place - modern vampires of the city

This was my first record by them, was aware of the hits before this came out but saw them live when they were touring this at a festival. It started my love for the band. This has some of my absolute favourites of all their songs (Hannah hunt, ya hey) and is such an excellent mission statement as a whole. A phenomenal record.

2nd place - vampire weekend

I only bought this last year, having heard most songs a decent amount here and ther as a teenager. I expected it to be less interesting than their later albums initially, bit i was incredibly surprised at how varied, tight and interesting it is as an album after my reassessment last year. An absolute banger. Favourite song is probably the kids don't stand a chance.

1st place - only god was above us

Idk man, it's just such a rich and interesting experience. If they don't play prep school gangsters tomorrow I'm gonna KICK OFF, it's my favourite song this year (and this year was stacked. Fontaines DC favourite is a very close second). I'm delighted where they're at on 2024. I hope people listen to this, it can provide some hope in a strange geopolitical world

Can you hear the train in Step? Can you hear the kick drum hiss in everlasting arms?

10th Dec Brixton: What's this song?

So I'm really bad at remembering names of songs. What was the song which had a crazy violin solo with the violinist in the middle?

Paris ticket categories

Hello, I have a question on the Paris venue tonight. I got standing tickets in the presale, my ticket says "STANDARD FOSSE PLACEMENT FOS"

Is this a front of stage ticket, or they only have one type of standing? I tried to check the venues website but cannot really figure it out. Thank you!
