Hi all, my first time posting here. I love the Antlers and Hospice is one of my favourite albums. I’m travelling from Hong Kong to see them and have planned a trip around Dublin around the concert.
Would anyone be keen to meet up before the show? Let me know. I love going to concerts and meeting people who love the same kind of music. If you’re like me and love connecting with people over music, and going solo, if you’re keen, we could meet up before the concert? Let me know! It’ll be my first entry to Ireland and I’m so very excited for this trip.
...I thought I'd share some of my own music. Darby (former Antlers member) played trumpet on the first track!
If you can't tell by the artist name alone, The Antlers have been a huge inspiration for me for the 10+ years I've been making music. I put out my 3rd album (Kept, linked above) almost a year ago, and as someone who's had a hard time finding the right ears for their music, it'd mean a lot if you checked it out, because I think y'all might be exactly that (: Alex Schaaf (Yellow Ostrich) played keys and synths on track 5, too, if that piques your interest!
Apologies if this post comes off as excessively self-promotional - I just figured I should shoot my shot.
Loved the show at LPR last night! It got me thinking, is it possible he’s living off of album sales and tours or does he have some kind of normal job or does producing or something?
I have an extra ticket, let me know if you want it for free and I can transfer it via Dice I believe!
Edited: Claimed!
Selling 1-4 extra tickets for The Antlers this upcoming Weds June 7 at LPR. Can't make the show anymore. Tickets were $40.17 face value, will sell these for $29 each as I would rather take a discount than eat them. Chat me if interested.
Indie rock duo The Antlers are returning to LPR for a special intimate performance In The Round this June! Since their inception in the mid 2000s, members Peter Silberman and Michael Lemer have received acclaim from Pitchfork for their “peace of mind” post-rock sound. Tickets are on sale now to celebrate the venue’s 15th anniversary next week! >>> https://link.dice.fm/hd59554c1036
Everything about it is beyond perfect. The lyrics are so powerful and life-changing.
This kid is getting in my nerves it’s 2 seconds in and he already has a deathwish. Not only that but he literally was trying to drive a car. Like how inconsiderate can this kid be?!! So crude and ignorant! If this kid was my son I would throw him out of my house. And now he thinks the wendigo is like toothless from how to train your dragon. Like it’s a MELOVALENT SPIRIT FOR A REASON! It cannot be trained! Anyway this kid is just the worst.
Hello! I figured this could be a decent place to ask, is there any way to contact Peter Silberman be it via p.o box or email? If not I'd appreciate knowing as well. Just wanted to write a bit about the impact of his and the Antlers work, if not I might just put it here.
Today, The Antlers return with the new single "Ahimsa", their first new recording since the duo's Losing Light EP last November.
"Ahimsa" first came to light on Peter Silberman's solo album Impermanence back in 2017. It has since become a mainstay of The Antlers' live set, with the full band's input adding further warmth and rich tones to its important message of compassion. The band closed shows with it on their last tour, a parting thought to the audience as the song's meaning has deepened over time.
Silberman explains, "The original version had a patient tempo, spare instrumentation and hypnotic circular delays. It was intended as a meditation on the Buddhist notion of “non-harming”, which is perhaps a better translation of the title than “non-violence”.
"Stemming from my wish for a tranquil day amidst turbulent health issues, my focus then was on confronting my own ephemerality as inspiration toward greater compassion for those around me," he continues.
"But in the years since its original release, I think the song has taken on a meaning closer to the immediacy of the chorus of “no violence”, and become a kind of hymn in opposition to the rampant turmoil and seemingly inescapable vitriol of the moment. https://bityl.co/FRRE
Hey, recently I’ve been starstruck by hospice (I’m also a big fan of their first two albums) and I wanted the hospice vinyl but saw reviews saying the pressing sucks, does the pressing actually suck and is it worth it to buy or no?
so. you guys know bear right. im sure you do. id be shocked if you didnt. obviously. anyway.
the poem 'on a dead child' by robert bridges reminds me of bear. similar topic, similar imagery, idk, just a random connection i've made.
read if it you want, or not, hope you've all been keeping well. hope life's been good for you all. it hasn't been so great for me
Do you guys think that Darby Cicci would reunite with The Antlers? I feel that has presence is sorely missed. He added another layer to the live performances with the trumpet and synths (listen to the live in London album for reference).
Fingers cross that this would happen one, at least a live performance!
