I am planning to applying for Master of Information (MI) so just wandering how competitive is this program. Since my CGPA is like grade C so my CGPA is kinda low that may not be able to meet to the requirements but I heard the admission will look holistically. I will make strong personal statements and two great references that would helps. So is it possible to get accepted with low CGPA, strong personal statements and 2 great references? Thanks.
anything from signal processing to ML to power electronics, how hard is it to find opportunities that you are interested in as an ECE undergrad with ~1-2 years of experience in relevant labs at other ontario universities? anecdotes are very welcome
Hi there!
We are building The Drive AI, a system similar to Google Drive, designed specifically for students. With The Drive AI, you can store all your class resources, ask questions directly to your files, take notes based on stored documents, and even chat with your friends.
What makes it unique? You can ask questions not only to text files but also to YouTube videos and websites! Plus, each file has its own chat history, making your team conversations more contextual. You can also create group chats or DM people individually.
We'd love for you to give it a try. Happy studying!

Idk if it’s just me but first year is actually horrible. I study a lot but I still end up failing my exams or barely passing.
I feel depressed knowing that I was once a good student but now I feel completely stupid cuz of my grades. I really don’t know what happened. I knew life sci would be hard but I wasn’t expecting this. I always work hard and study, and it usually pays off…but not this time. I don’t know where I’m going wrong.
I honestly feel so lost I really don’t know what to do with my academic career at this point 😭. I feel like I’m in an academic slump where I try to catch up but I just can’t. I keep wondering if I would have been better off attending a different university. This fall semester has actually taken a toll on my mental health.
Does it get better ?
Honestly, I really want to drop MAT135 to take it in the winter. I feel too behind and I don’t think I would get a good grade.
But I need mat136 to get into my POSt. If I take MAT136 in the summer would I still be able to apply for the program that I want ?
I really hope that the winter coordinator is different from the fall sem because SMT is horrible.
I’d appreciate some other advice…
i'm trying to see what college/residence works best esp with the least walking distance. if anyone has any knowledge on where life sci students tend to cluster in general that would be greatly helpful too!! :3
What the title says. Is the early application deadline of Nov 7th just the basic OUAC, or all of the documents needed. I am so lost. Also, where will they ask for my transcript, after I submit OUAC?
For context, I am currently a second-year Statistics Specialist who has never taken a writing-based university course before.
I've always been very interested in philosophical topics, have read a few texts, and I took philosophy in high school, so the academic discipline is at least somewhat familiar to me. I'm confident I'll find the course interesting and the tim t's held works great for me, I'm just worried I'll get destroyed on the essays.
I would appreciate if anyonr has insights on the course, it's workload, number of essays, or even just how PHL courses tend to be structured at UofT. Also, how easy would it be to get a 50, I'm very open to CR-NCRing it, since it would still count towards my BR-2.
P.S: I would also be willing to take PHL233, philosophy for scientists, but I think I'd prefer PHL201, since it seems to tackle a wider range of topics.
That was my grade 11 average and Im around a 86-88% average currently with my first semester mid term marks. This is for the st.George campus
I'm a grad student at St George studying computer science, and I was the kind of STEM-lord who developed this weird superiority complex about those who study "useless" subjects. In fact, back when I was a teenager, my family friend (a very kind old woman who was endlessly patient to my BS) told me that her daughter just graduated summa cum laude in philosophy. My only response to that was "what kind of job does philosophy get you?"
As I've matured academically, I've come to see philosophy as something just as important as what I'm studying, to the point where, in my spare time, I enjoy teaching myself the philosophy of mathematics. And my life will not be complete until I read the entirety of Whitehead's "Process And Reality".
Im a bit stuck and would really appretiate any help 🙏
As the title says, some of the answers i wrote for a scholarship applicaiton are being flagged as %30 - %50 AI generated with the scribbr ai detector. This is only hapening to the shorter ones (~100 words). I did not use chatgpt to help me with the writing, but i used it to give me general tips of what I should consider when answering, and even though it showed me some examples of how it should look like, i made sure that I would not write for a couple of hours until i forgot those example chatgpt gave me so my writing is not influenced by it. My answers are completely different that what it suggested me and I made sure they are genuine answers.
I'm afraid that this might disqualify me from the scholarship
I tried re-wording the answers, but re-wording it felt either unnatural for me or unprofessional due to the word limit that limits the ways you can reword your answers
Do you think I should submit it anyways since ik that i wrote it? or should I contact the university and tell them before submitting my application?
Hello! Working on this project for a consulting club to try and improve financial options for students. This survey should only take about 5 minutes to complete and you have a chance to win money! Please help out, I’d love to have better options for students
i’m supposed to graduate CEGEP next June (2025) and now I’m applying for UofT and York university. I just wanna know if i need to choose first year or upper year..
Hi, I have an exam conflict for this upcoming exam period, where I have two exams at the same time. Does anyone have experience with having same time exam conflicts and how did it get resolved? Thanks!
Situation: I calculated it and I need a 80+ in one midterm left and the final to be safe
I’m confident I can do it, but any 4.0s here in csc and 223 wanna share tips for studying effectively?
I understand most the material outside of tests, but during tests I just end up choking.
I’m especially worried abt csc since it’s a full credit course so it weighs higher on my cGPA
So I got a 25.5/52 (49%) on a term test and I was just wondering if it'd be appropriate/allowed to ask the professor to bump it up to 26/52 (50%) so I at least pass the test. there's nothing in the syllabus that says I can't but I just wanna be sure it's not like an academic offense or anything lol
I have a two-hour class, and I'm wondering if it's acceptable to ask my professor for a short break in between. I want to stretch my legs and take a quick mental breather to stay focused for the second half of the class. I've never had a two-hour class without a break, and isn't it customary at U of T? Have you ever had a 2 hour lecture or tutorial without a break?
I'm a second year student studying stats econ and cs and I wanted to do an internship next summer but then realized most recruitment has already ended. So now I'm geared towards doing work study during the next summer and finding internship for the 2026 summer. Just of curiosity, when do people usually find internship if they are planning to be a data analyst - after 2nd year or 3rd year? Because I saw a lot of data analysis related postings requiring you to have completed 3rd or 4th year at university. Is it normal to do an internship after finishing 2nd year for someone in this field? Also, which month of the year does the internship recruitment happens and would there still be openings in january? Thanks in adavnce.
I have the MAT133 term test 1 soon, where do I get practice questions and how do I study for it!! Please help! I don’t know how to study.
Hi! Please help me. I graduated high school and university years ago in a different country, so I don‘t know where to get all these pre-reqs. I am currently applying for BKin for 2025, but I am overwhelmed with the requirements. I really want to get in here, so I need your advice. Thank you so much!
I'm in my first year/first sem of the double degree bba/hbsc program at utsc and suddenly im being drawn towards engineering. i never even thought of eng as a career choice but all of a sudden its almost something im becoming passionate about. i love my program at utsc but all this money talk and networking etc etc hustle culture is kind of making me sick. can someone confirm with me whether switching to uoft eng is an option? im taking pretty math heavy courses so would credits transfer?
Does anyone have lecture 8 notes for CSB327? If so, would you mind sending it to me? I didn’t go to that lecture as I was sick that day. Thanks in advance!
I’m feeling pretty anxious about all my grades, no matter how much I study and prepare. I’m doing alright like mid 70s so far on exams, but I’m still stressing. Also feeling a bit lonely and lowk depressed (idk if this is the right word to use) but I don’t rly feel like doing anything fun, and I swear I don’t have time to do fun things when I want to, since I have so much work to do. Are there any tips u guys have (idc if you’re in Eng or not, anything would help)
I’m struggling a lot in calc because my professor talks about politics for 40 minutes of a 1 hour class. Is any upper years willing to answer calc questions or just go through some materials with me out of the kindness of their hearts? Im a first year engineer
We got our marks back. I am not satisfied with my mark at all. So hate Math courses. I thought i would get at least 75%, but no. How is it for you guys?
Should I join a waitlist with 0 people for a 210 sized class?
Hi!
TLDR: i’m a second year student at another uni feeling kinda lost and not doing so well mentally or socially, considering switching to UofT for a change of space and maybe “another chance”. Any advice is appreciated :)
For those continuing to read on, I am nothing if not grateful… before getting into it, i just wanna say that i’m just writing down stuff as it comes to me. I’m in a pretty weird mental state and i understand that some of the stuff might not make a lot of sense initially, but i’m very willing to answer anything and elaborate in the comments.
I’m currently a second year international student at another reputed Canadian uni and as the title suggests, i’m feeling kinda lost in life. I’m doing pretty well academically, but socially and mentally, i’ve been getting worse and worse, and that has kinda started affecting my academics a bit too. I haven’t been able to focus as much recently and easily get distracted.
I am a pretty social person, or at least i used to be… i know a good amount of people here but i haven’t felt “close” to anyone and still feel left out wherever i am. Since my first year, i have been attending events that align with my interests and hobbies as much as i can in hopes of finding “my people”, but i have had no luck. I have a girlfriend who makes everything better but i recently found out something that might end up with us breaking up. I had been thinking of switching unis for a while but ended up deciding not to because of her, coz i really see us going somewhere, but now i’m not so sure. At the end of the day, i just want good friends that i can confide in and not feel lonely so much of the time. And that is kinda a big reason i’m considering U of T.
I can somewhat see everything i said sound kinda stupid, but it’s affecting me more than i would like to admit. I attended a few counseling sessions that the uni provided but they were no help. They made some things worse tbh. I have pretty severe anxiety that definitely does not help.
I guess i’m just looking to hear about your experiences at U of T, and any advice that you guys would have for me is very appreciated. Please ask me questions on everything i wrote and i would be more than happy to elaborate.
Thank you :)
I immigrated to Canada when I was in grade 8, and although English is my second language, I don’t need to meet the English language requirements since I’ve completed four years of full-time study in Canadian schools.
I’m currently in the second year of IBDP curriculum (M25) and aiming to get into the UTSG campus for Arts & Science (Mathematical and Physical Sciences). My predicted grade is 36 points (excluding the core subjects), but I did poorly in English (Literature) SL, scoring only 4 points. I’m worried this might affect my chances of getting into U of T, especially since the recommended range for English HL or SL is 5 to 7.
I appreciate any insights or advice you can share!
Hi! I’m a Grade 12 student and prospective Life Sciences applicant (BSc in Psychology) from Manitoba. For those of you from MB who got into the Life Sci program, what was your Grade 12 average, and which courses did you take? I attend a private Catholic school with rigorous marking and low grade inflation by my city’s standards, and I'm expecting my average to be around 88-90% by the end of the year. I’m taking Physics, Biology, Chemistry, English, English Literature, Pre-Calculus, Psychology, and a university-level Religion course. My school offers only AP Calculus and Computer Science, neither of which I took (was this a mistake?)
Does UofT take factors like rigorous grading into account, and should I mention my school’s lack of AP programs in my application? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially since there’s limited info for MB students here. Thank you!
I'm thinking of taking PCL368 and JPM300 in order to take JPM400 next year. But if those courses are awful then I may give up JPM400. I am also just interested in PCL345. Please let me know which ones the easiest or recommend me any other pharmtox 3rd/4th year course. THANK YOU!!!!
