Since there is a change in ca department that the year 1 computer science student will have the different cs 100 level courses, then how many positions will left for the students admitted to other art&science year1 student? Anyone knows the cutoff grades
Odds of being accepted for a visiting term at UofT after moving to Toronto and doing a summer research term there?
As a student in a CS program at UofT we used to be able to download MS software through MSDNAA/Dreamspark. Is this still possible? Or has UofT's agreement with MS changed?
I am currently a 3rd year UTM CS Specialist. I will be doing my PEY for my 4th year and I would love to transfer to UTSG to finish up my last year. Does anyone know the chances of getting into the downtown CS pOST? I know you have to reapply and meet the requirements, but I"m already this far down the CS path. DO you think they will shut me down?
Does anyone have some notes or the list of books used for the first semester for CS course? Could u please tell me? Thx
Hi guys! I'm going to be studying at St. George's next year for two semester. I was wondering if anyone had any advice about any of the below modules. I'm planning to do roughly 5/6 modules over my time in UT (I'm doing a Joint Honour degree in CS and Business in my home university). Also any general advice about Cs and general UofT stuff would be super helpful.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me out here. I want to know if my grades and extracurricular activities are enough to get me into the Computer Science program
Marks;
Math - 95, Physics - 94, English - 85, Calculus - 95, Computer Science - 97, Manufacturing Technology -91
Extracurricular Activities;
School ball hockey team, athletic council, crypto-currency club, multiple competitions, part time job
Any tips on preparing for CSCC37? Are there any past midterms or assignments that I can use to prepare for the midterm? If so, where can I go to find them? Thanks!
Can someone recommend a half-credit bird course that fulfills the "Humanities" requirement? In fact, I am probably gonna use my No Credit (NR) option on it. I am currently taking:
CSC263, CSC411, CSC458, MAT224 and CSC309 but I need to drop CSC309 and wish to replace it with a 1/2-credit "Humanities" course.
In the First Year's Guide to CS, at the very end, it says "hope weโll see you at CS Frosh this year!"
When and where will CS Frosh take place? Googled and couldn't find any info.
Need 3 more CS courses this fall to graduate (one 400+ and two 300+). Currently enrolled in CSC485 (Gerald Penn), CSC336 (Ken Jackson), CSC304 (Nisarg Shah), CSC324 (David Liu).
I have a conflict with CSC336 and CSC324. So I need to pick between them. Which would be best considering the workload of CSC485 and CSC304? I took 336 last year but I dropped it because it was so boring, so I know what to expect. Does that little experience with 336 make it a easier choice than 324? Or is 324 just easier/more useful/more interesting?
Has anyone taken 485? I took CSC401 last semester and it was a bit of a mess so I think i'm prepared. How does the workload/difficulty between the 485 and 401 compare please? Also any advise on 304 would be cool too please. Thanks.
On Acorn I'm currently enrolled in a CS Major and Minor. Does this actually do anything? Or will the major 'cancel out' the minor? (Like can I drop the minor and pick up a different one?) Or will I actually get credit for both the major and minor?
Hello! I'm an aspiring CS major fresh out of high school and I have been trying (desperately) to determine which courses I should be enrolled in for first year.
The four I am pretty dead set on so far are CSC108, CSC148, CSC165 and MAT137. Any recommendations for other courses I should be taking would be greatly appreciated!
Hi, I'm a high school student who was admitted into engineering science. I've been looking through the calender for Engineering Science and in my opinion, there isn't enough programming for me. Eng Sci ECE seems to favor hardware over software. The new Machine Intelligence specialisation seems too niche for an undergrad and idk if Eng Sci provides enough programming exposure to warrant pursing this option.
I applied to Eng Sci just to see if I would even get in. I chose Comp Eng as my alternative. I only had a 93-94% average when I applied so I guess my supplementary and video interview were good lol.
The reason I didn't accept a CS offer is because I forgot to apply to CS and when I went on OUAC to add the program, UofT had already closed applications for it. Oh well. Can't do anything about it now.
Anyways, I have a couple of questions that I hope can be answered by you all.
Is it possible to switch into CS? If so, when can it be done? Can I switch into it rn before first year starts?
Assuming I can't or choose not to switch, should I switch into Comp Eng or stay in Eng Sci? What are the pros and cons of staying in Eng Sci versus switching into Comp Eng or CS?
I'm thinking about pursing grad school for artificial intelligence (may change my mind in uni) so my next question is which path (CS, Comp Eng, Eng Sci) should I take?
Honestly, I'm interested in software and want to delve into stuff like cybersecurity, cryptography and computer networks as well. I'm not too sure if I wanna put myself through Eng Sci for no good reason if it provides no advantages compared to doing CS or Comp Eng.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that some of you can provide some meaningful insight and advice.
Hey,
In the 2017-2018 year i went to UTM and I applied for UTSG. This morning I was just accepted into UTSG. I was wondering how POST would work for me, would I have to retake all my classes or are they transferred and I accepted as a second year student?
Thanks
Hey, to anyone who would be able to point me in the right direction I would be truly grateful. I have 0 experience or knowledge in computer science but have always been interested, I dropped out of college here in Montreal and am planning to move to Toronto in the beginning of 2019. Where do I start? thanks in advance

I'm an American resident (not citizen) who will be attending UofT St George next year for CS, I'm think I know pretty much all of the basics but I would like to clear up what are these cutoffs? Are they talking about solely Specialist programs or do I get kicked out if I don't meet some cutoffs, also are they based on an arbitrary measure or are they designed to eliminate people from programs?
I didn't gain much from those two links other than the OP's didn't do well and they are going to suffer to some degree. Should I be worried or are these two bottom feeders?
EDIT: Thank you for the Answers, I think pretty much everything has been answered.
Hi all. Has anyone had much luck with getting their CSLab account working with Windows 10's Mail app? Mine sort of does with default settings, but takes a ridiculously long time to sync and takes up most of the CPU. Anyone else had this problem?

Hi,
I'm currently finishing my degree within the next year at the University of Ottawa with a 7/10 CGPA which is ~3.33/4. My upper year courses are closer to 7.5/10. I have done several internships as a Data Scientist and Software Engineer Intern. What are my chances of getting into the program? The UofT website says a B+ but those always tend to be the bare minimum.
Thank you!!
Hi. I've an admit to the MScAC program. Although, I initially planned for a research thesis-based Masters in CS with concentration in ML/AI, having this admit from UofT makes me reconsider my options! Currently, I am not considering an immediate PhD but am looking forward to joining some research-based startups. At the same time, I enjoy involving with a professor and binging on research full-day.
I would be glad if someone can answer some questions I had!
Thank you for your help. Regards.
So my GPA first year was not high enough to get into POSt, and with the new requirements, I won't be able to do CS minor either because my marks were too low. I slacked off during my year and didn't realize the seriousness of it until it was too late. I am adamant about doing computer science because it is my passion so I do not want to switch programs. Can anyone guide me on what I should do? Should I switch universities? Which programs at which schools are good. I just need help on what to do. Thank You!

My name is Madeline Taylor and I am part of the Student Communications Team at the Faculty of Arts & Science.
I'm working on a new video project with the Office of the Faculty Registrar that aims to help incoming students ease anxiety and stress over course enrolment, and I could really use your help!
Right now, I'm looking for current (or recently graduated) Arts & Science students from a variety of backgrounds (Humanities, Social Sciences, Life Sci, Math & Physical Sciences, Comp Sci and Rotman) who are willing to speak ON CAMERA about their experiences and any tips or tricks they might have regarding course enrolment. However, after reaching out to my own social groups - I have found that I have a lot of student volunteers coming from the humanities and social sciences and not enough from the other disciplines!
I'm hoping to have a crew of camera-comfortable volunteers ready to shoot late February - early March. If this is something you or a friend of yours would be interested in participating in, please send me an email at madeline.taylor@utoronto.ca!
Hi, I have applied for UoT CS this year, but I m a bit confused about admission criterias, einfo says it's "low 90s" but what does it mean? Is it like a minimum or average? Do I have a chance of my grade 12 average is 90? What averages did you have when applied? Thank you!
