South Townhouse small single or HC double?

I am thinking of applying to switch to HC because my housemates are really unhygienic and I am getting sick really often(dust + smell in the house). I wanted to know how the shared room situation in HC is. Are the rooms small? And would it be worth the move, since I have a lot of privacy because I have a single room in my townhouse. I sometimes also have my friends and boyfriend over at my room so I am not really sure.

Human Biology specialist…?

Hi there, I’m a first year in the Life Sciences program (with Co-op), and I’m considering specializing in Human Bio.

I’d love to hear some advice from anyone doing a Human Bio specialist. Maybe what kind of things you learn, pros and cons of specialist vs major, and anything you think is important for a naive first year like myself.

For more detail, I’m hoping to eventually go to medical school as of now (although that could change), or to at least pursue a career in healthcare. I would say I’m an academic type of person interested in science, especially human function and structure (hence why I thought Human Bio would be good).

I’d really appreciate any advice! Thanks in advance! 🙃

Question about ACORN Absence Declarations

I had to declare an absence for one of my midterms earlier this term for one course due to health related reasons (tho I ended up dropping the course anyway before taking the midterm as my health issues were getting pretty bad and I couldn’t manage my course load).

Now, I have an upcoming midterm early next week for a different course and I’ve been doing pretty awful again. I haven’t been able to study and know I won’t be able to take the test. I want to defer again, but I know you can only submit 1 absence declaration. Do I just submit my MTW form without a declaration? Or does this count as a something I need to follow the “subsequent term absences” section for even tho it’s a different course?

Should I drop coop (cs)

Cs coop here, right now I am considering dropping coop because

  1. The coop courses are absolutely waste of time and doesn’t help at all.
  2. The economy isn’t the best.
  3. Very mediocre grades so nothing outstanding.

However, rn I was able to secure a research opportunity at another university and honestly the future is looking kinda bright as I might be able to (10% chance) do research with a prof in person. I am 100% doing a master degree so I really don’t know what to do now. Do I take coop course this winter and seeking coop this upcoming summer or just drop coop and do the research. Need help, would be nice to hear feedback, Especially from a professor. Thanks

MGFC10 Final Exam Tips

Anyone who's taken fc10 with Derek Chau have any tips on how to do well on the final? I unfortunately had to skip the midterm so the final is worth 75%. Does he test a lot pre-midterm content? Is it really as difficult as everyone says it is?

Elective for winter 2025

Hi guys, can someone recommend an elective for Winter 2025. I don't really need a course that's easy but preferably something interesting. Also, probably a or b level since I'm in first year so I don't really have pre reqs

PSYD, PHD or Medical School? Which one will take longer?

I can’t decide to which one I should pursue? I would appreciate honest advice? By the way, with a specialist in mental health studies undergrad degree.

MGSC30 Tips

Taking this course right now and I thought it would be easy...surprise it's not. I keep getting 60s on everything. It's all about identifying and analyzing legal issues but I suck at figuring out the exact legal issue at hand...

Tips on how to prepare for this course's final better? I"m not failing and halfway through the course, may as well see the final through but I would like to get my grade at least 2 letter grades higher.

Does anyone else feel like the Health Sci Stream is Useless?

hey everyone, first year life sci here and wondering if other people are on the same page as me when it comes to the health sci stream (i'll be abbreviating it as hss for the rest of this post). I rmbr when i first applied for the hss on the ouac thinking oh em gee it's gonna be special but it's literally like any another certificate at utsc 💀💀. Like I've been too so many of the info sessions and all they do is regurgitate the stuff they've already put out on the website and I just genuinley what to know what is the actual advantage of it because I just feel like it's out there to make us do random ahh courses. If you're in any of the possible HSS from the various streams (life, pes, soc sci + humanities or pysch) like the courses are all over the place and they just don't like sometimes fit well with we're doing yk? I am genuinely curious what the supposed "advantage" is of keeping this certificate. Like do i get special entry into programs in the SAMIH? Like do I get more than just networking opportunities ?(Because there are already a shit ton from all the various clubs across campuses) and just other questions in terms of med. Like what really is the competitive advantage of this program?

Should I make my second Major Health Studies - Health Policy or just Public Policy?

hey utsc reddit just trying to figure out which major I wanna do. If anyone is in either one of these programs and like could share a little about how it is content-wise and how the heavy the course load is that would be great! ik public policy has specific courses you can take that are health related it but i'm a life sci student taking co-op and i'm wondering which one would be more ideal fit for me. Like in terms of interest but also GPA boosting in a sense if that makes any sense? Both programs have been on my mind for awhile now but if anyone could share some more insight + any possible job opportunities they've gotten that would be great!
