If you took any of these courses, can you please give me advice on how it is overall, how is the marking? is it bird and a gpa booster? I would really appreciate it i'm just confused on which one to take, I just want something easy and straightforward.
For those in PSY290, can you ask questions in the “discussions” section about concepts your confused? I’m not sure if I even need the participation credit but it’s helpful for those that do especially because today’s the last day, so most people are going to answer if they’re scrambling plus it would help anybody that wants to study off of the discussion board.
Idk I feel cooked😂 Anyone wanna study.
I could just stay and not add any courses but I don't plan on coming back, how do I drop out so I don't have to pay any more money in fees or whatever?
does anyone have the December 2023 PHY136 exam with Wagih Ghobriel? It's not on exam repository but it would be great if I could get that haha. If anyone reproduced it, please let me know, thanks
If you think that the makeup test was way harder than the original test is there anything you can do about it?
does utm / uoft have any type of financial support when it comes to psychiatric / therapies? i think im neurodivergent and need some kind of medically prescribed stimulant (my dad has adhd, it’s genetic) because it’s genuinely affecting my studies.
hi! anyone got tips on how to study or score well on the exam, like what to expect ! thanks!
I have it with Tracy Spurrier.
With finals coming up and the semester winding down, I wanted to get some opinions on something that's been on my mind: coding on paper. Personally, I really dislike it because I don't feel it actually helps in a meaningful way. It seems strange to spend all semester working on devices, getting comfortable with coding tools, and then have to do it on paper for something as important as a midterm or final.
I totally understand why it's important to know how code works and to test theoretical knowledge, which is where I think multiple choice questions are really effective. They definitely test understanding. But when it comes to applying critical thinking and solving actual coding problems, writing on paper doesn’t seem to add much value. You can’t test your code or know if your thought process is correct, and sometimes it just feels like you're making a lot of guesses. Even if you get it right, it often feels like pure luck.
In my opinion, it would make more sense to have the multiple choice questions on paper and then move the actual coding problems online, where students can use proper coding environments (with safeguards to prevent cheating, of course). This way, we can really show our skills in a way that mirrors how we work in real life.
Overall, though, the course has been pretty good, no complaints there! Just curious to hear what you all think about the coding on paper situation.
I want to change my program for the winter term. Does anyone know when is the deadline to make that change, has it already passed or I still got time?
I finally decided I might do a double major in psychology and biology (if possible). I already completed the requirements for first year psych but will do the first year requirements for Biology in second year (and second year requirements for psych) which means, in second year I will be taking first year biology courses and second year psychology courses. Is this even allowed? If it is allowed, that would mean in fourth year I will be finished my psychology major but i wouldn’t be finished my biology major, so like will i be able to take only biology courses in my 5th year without needed to take any extra courses?
How can u guys review and remember 16 chapters for the final exam??? I LITERALLY CAN NOT 😭😭 do u guys have any tips?? Plsss
am i able to apply to the cs utmcip program if i dont get into any cs program (minor, major, specialist)? I have all the prerequisites for the cs utmcip program just not any other cs program
Hey so i’m in second year and i’m retaking 102 and i’m planning on lwd , cause 102 went horrible for me lol , if i reapply for cs post would they look at my 102 grade from last year? (I got 75 last year) or would I need a 102 grade from this year to apply for post? (hoping they make the cutoff 73 again :))
Helpppp Does anyone have past exam for psy346 Taryn. I found the 2022 online but does anyone have the 2023🥺?
Hey, I just need 3 more 300-level criminology courses to complete my program, and was wondering which 3 people found to be the easiest/least heavy?
Does anyone have lectures notes they can share?
I’ve got Divya as my prof and she’s mostly great, but I am a little confused on what she wants from our stories. Her editing sessions are really helpful but some of her edits are so…. silly(?) that I don’t really know what to do with them.
For example, she always tells us to “show don’t tell” the reader our emotions. So in one of my stories, to show that I’m frustrated I said that my “hands were fisted in my hair.” She highlighted that and said it was cliche.
In another one of my stories, I mentioned that an Aunt of mine is a doctor a little later in the story. She told me to introduce her as a doctor earlier in the story so I don’t have to mention it later. Then in my midterm submission, she cut marks because I mentioned it earlier and not later (???).
I’ve mostly finished editing all 6 of my stories but I’m just worried about these small edits cuz the assignments worth 60%. I submitted all the homework and reading responses as well but I’m not too sure how she’ll mark them. We only received completion marks but she said that she’ll input our marks according to how much effort she thinks we put in. I’ll admit that some of my homework was very rushed because I was too busy with other courses.
Any advice on how to edit my stories would be appreciated :)
Im currently enrolled in eco102 with Aaron but Im debating getting on the waitlist for Baileys session, can anyone that took eco101 and 102 with Bailey confirm if the courses are both structured the same?
I don't get why in every library quiet space, there must be one or two people making noise and destroying the whole place.
Can anyone who’s taking RLG101 or taken rlg101 with Prof Derry please share their final exam notes.
Hi, I submitted an LWD request two days ago, for a course having its Final Exam on the 9th (in a week)
Will my request be approved by then, or do I need to appear for my Final? The UTM Calendar says that today (I.e the 12th) was the deadline, so will my request hopefully be processed before the exam?
I heard that if you submit an LWD request, you usually get an approved email in 24 hours, but I still hasn't received any email. The only email I got was that my request has been received, and on the Office of the Registrar LWD Application, my status is pending.
I am currently on a waitlist for ISP100 for this winter with one person. How likely am I gonna get in? Do people usually switch out of it?
Are eco202 test 1 results still not announced? Prof Masoud
Is it okay if I have a conflict with my csc148 lecture and the designated test time for MAT136? I'm assuming 136 is gonna have 2-3 term tests meaning I would only miss those lectures?
Is it possible to get a verification of illness from the HCC for exhaustion. This sounds rediculus but I've genuinely reached a breaking point and I'm not sure I'll complete this assignment due tomorrow. So I'm wondering if exhaustion warrants a voi and if the HCC can issue one?
will they be able to it if i send it through their school email? i dont have their regular email 😭
Looking for something to help boost my GPA, narrowed it down to 2 courses… FRE181 or SOC100?
For context, I already have SOC100 in my winter timetable and it’s supposed to be a “bird” course (ik every course here isn’t a bird but SOC100 is a little relaxed) although I’ve heard mixed things such as SOC100 is NOT a “bird”, it’s content heavy and pretty difficult.
I am debating switching to FRE181 bc I was in French Immersion from grades 1-12, I’ll have experience and I don’t want to lose my French so it’ll be nice to pursue French in university as well, but I have no idea how difficult it is, how the prof is or how heavy the content is.
But end of the day, I want a course that’ll help out my GPA, any suggestions or experiences w these classes?
In the summer, I had a meeting with an academic advisor about the confusion that I was having with Degree explorer and it not recognizing my courses.
I kept asking her over and over about if I had to overload for both semesters, to which she said Yes. I talked about my hardships, working an overnight job. Moving out due to family issues, on top of that taking 6 courses for each semester.
One of the courses, to which my knowledge I needed to fulfill the 20.0/20.0 requirement is actually showing it as 20.5/20 on my Degree explorer, hence I took the course for no reason.
It's past the deadline to drop the course without a refund, the exam is tomorrow for me. I won't write it and declare it as a LWD. But, what about the money?
Do I have to fight my case? I'm clueless, that money could have helped me in so many ways.
