Recently moved to the area - we love our 100+ year old house, but are less happy about the squirrels that are getting into the attic. We've had Orkin out, and I think it helped some, but we really probably need someone that is more familiar with this architecture and has the carpentry-type skills to repair the eaves properly to eliminate all their points of entry. Has anyone else had this experience or any recommendations for a contractor/handyman/carpenter/squirrel-killer that can help us?

My wife and I have been thinking about doing the Redbeard events they host and try to meet some new people and make some new friends A lot of our friends moved away.

How are these events? Are they good for meeting new people in the area?

My family is driving this weekend to get to family for Thanksgiving - we'll be passing through Staunton for lunch but we have a 2 year old and a dog. Is there anywhere with heated outdoor seating that allows dogs? Otherwise we'll do pick up and head to the park for everyone to eat and stretch their legs.

Are there any grocery store recommendations that have a good selection of fresh veggies? I typically go to Aldi and have grown up around Wegmans but am wondering what local grocery stores might have the best vegetable options outside of Aldi? Hello Staunton! We spent a lovely weekend in your town visiting from Asheville. But a large abandoned building up on a hill on the right side of the road as we drove south on highway 250, before the interstate ramp, piqued our curiosity.

Cursory research did not help, but we did discover the VA Lunatics Asylum across the road.

Can anyone tell us what the building is?

I just moved here a month ago and noticed they have no curbside recycling bins in for regular trash? Coming from a state where recycling is the standard norm I’m super confused and wondering how on earth this is feasible? I have more recycling on a weekly basis than trash. I thought this area was more progressive 😅🥲

I'll be in the area right before Thanksgiving and am hoping to take advantage of the lower smount of light pollution to take photos of the night sky (I live outside a major city and its too bright here for good night sky photos.) Any suggestions for a very dark place near Stauton that I can be legally after dark and take some photos? Natural Bridge State Park was a suggestion I found online but their website says it closes at dusk.

We live in southern Alabama and are considering moving to Virginia in about two years. We pay $4,500 a year for our 2,600sqft with garage and 250sqft sunroom (will be adding a/c soon so it will be added to our square footage). When the general district court building downtown was a jail, there was a rooftop "yard" where prisoners could breathe fresh air and recreate. It's still there, and you can see it from the street. What is its current use today? There a basketball net up there that employees can use? Anything at all?

Hi there! My realtor and I have been looking for months for a decent space for a small gym startup. I really only need 400-700 square feet but it is proving very tricky to find that around here. I am wondering if anyone on here knows of spaces that are available privately or are just not listed? It has to be a space where at least a little noise is ok (we do drop some barbells at times) and ceilings need to be over 9 in height. At this point I’m about ready to lease a detached garage if someone has one that has electricity and water!

My kids and I currently live at Farrier Court but the management at Willow View seems much more invested in the community as a whole, not just in maintaining the property.
