I have an issue with billing, somehow Starlink is saying I got the hardware for free they can't find my payment. Even after providing all the information haven't heard back from them and my subscription is overdue now 😰
Starlink on inside of tour bus? This is a bit off a odd question but I am soon buying the starlink mini for camping trips and plan to pause/resume it as we go on trips and as it's needed. We'll I am in marching band and next year will be on a tour bus for about a 12-15 hour ride and was wondering if it would be feasible to bring this starlink with me and power it off a powerbank since cellular data will likely be spotty for a large portion of the trip going through mountains. I know you could generally just put it on the roof but I would be on this bus somewhere between the middle to back likely and they generally have metal roofs. Would there be any potential of getting good signal with this setup? Maybe sitting on something on a seat facing towards the window since it angles? Could the signal penetrate the metal roofing? I am acceptable with anything above like 20mbps down and 5 up tbh. Would mostly use cellular data but for the times we don't have cellular data it would be nice to just be able to connect to its network and call it a day. (We will have the unlimited roam plan if it makes a difference)
Here is an example image for an idea of what I mean
I’ll say this about the Gen 3 Starlink—it really needs a clear view of the sky to work effectively. I tried using it from my condo for a month to cut ties with Cox, whose rates were always going up.
Starlink’s performance on my condo balcony wasn’t great, but once we set it up on the roof of a house, it was a game-changer.
Now, we have four people online with smart devices, two kids online gaming, all for just $120 a month. I’ve recommended Starlink to my whole family.
♥️ I also have a referral link for a free month! You get a month free, and I get one too. PM me if you’re interested!”
Hi, for almost a week now, the router (gen2) has been unreachable from the app, and therefore it is impossible to enter its configuration. The router just came out of the box, before writing here I wrote to them, they said that the router was gone, and they sent me another one. The router is reachable only the first 5 seconds after the reboot or reset, I tried everything. Even reinstalling the app and different device. The strange thing is that the router's wi fi network is visible, and it works perfectly. Having multiple access points connected via the ethernet adapter, I also tried to disconnect the lan, thinking it was a dhcp problem. But nothing.
So about two days ago my internet went offline and it hasn’t been on since. When I go to try and connect to it won’t even show up and the app says disconnected. I’ve tried unplugging and plugging back in all the cords I tried to do a manual reset but apparently the button doesn’t work on it and I’ve sent a ticket to customer support but haven’t heard anything back yet. Has anyone else had this problem, what should I do?
I'm trying to order Starlink to be used on my bare land, but the land doesn't have an address yet. It seems like you MUST input a service address to order residential Starlink....but again, there is no address.
How do I get around this issue?
The county is in the process of giving me an address, but it's still a couple weeks away. However I need to make sure I have internet service before I move onto the land, which means ordering Starlink now and not waiting.
Please help!
In Asia for example, is it considered 1 region?
My browsers give Chicago news and weather, my Hulu tv gives me Chicago local channels. On the Starlink app it knows my location is Ohio. Hulu knows I’m in Ohio. But I can’t get it to not give Chicago local news/channels. The website has been not helpful at all.
Can anyone here help me?
Why is Elon over charging / lobbying the government for Starshield?
Hi, I’m in Papua New Guinea and there are redirections does anyone have a way as of recent to navigate and reset the 2 months restriction without needing to take the unit back?
Worth the discussion? Idk.
I cannot decide which is more reliable as I have no experience with either (currently Xfinity user in Longmont CO w/ zero issues)
My partner and I are moving to Jamestown, CO. We use the internet basically 4 days a week from 8am-7pm non-stop. Worried about steady connection as my whole setup is on a cloud server & desktop and connection issues could mess up my data and my work saving appropriately. Any thoughts or advice?
EDIT: CenturyLink max speed at our new place is only 30mbps. No fiber options.
I haven't had it for a full 24 hours yet but around noon today I recieved just over 300 mbps download speed. Huge step up from hughesnet.
I was being throttled by hughesnet to .23 mbps and I could not even load my amazon app to check my orders or my emails.
Hello everyone, i am French and i am going to travel to Australia in January. I wanted to buy the mini package in france and use it in Australia. Should i do it like this or buy it directly in australia ? If i buy the antenna in france would it be pre programmed to be used in france or can i use it directly in australia without waiting for the 120 days for exchanging current location service ? Dont know how to proceed to use it the fastest when i arrive over there.
Hi! I am planning to buy Starlink and can't decide which one to purchase.
I have 2 houses in the Philippines, and I typically travel between them every two weeks.
It looks like i should be using Residential and is a cheaper per month option, but is it possible to add addresses?
Mini provides portability, which means i can really use it on those 2 locations and more, but the plan is a little bit higher, and there is the 50gb
Ill be using it as remote work setup, and possibly there will be a lot of video streaming and gaming too.
Is there someone here on the same setup? What did you use and why?
These have been my speeds here in East TX lately. Totally unacceptable. How am I supposed to work with 2 Mbps up? Zoom sessions are just about pointless. This is Gen 2. I bought a Gen 3 today, so I curious to see how much of a difference it makes over the course of the week. These speed tests are direct connections to the SL router through my Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway, which provides a more accurate way of running speed tests than doing it wirelessly.
I am looking to buy a Roam starlink for campervan travel in Aus, for around 3 months. I’m planning on getting the Mobile regional subscription.
I’m planning on purchasing it in the Uk, and then take it over with me to Aus. However, I have read that due to licensing agreements the starlink will only work for 2 months outside of the UK
I'm noticing that there are Reddit accounts here belonging to SpaceX workers in Starlink, and since no one has reached out before, I'm asking for help in my country.
We are currently experiencing the deadliest natural disaster in our history—floods in the Valencia region. After four days, these floods have caused around 200 deaths, and there are currently 1,900 people reported missing. There are towns that are currently cut off, making it impossible to begin rescue missions or recover bodies or locate survivors.
I'm pleading with SpaceX to help connect the region, as it has done in other parts of the world during similar disasters.
Is someone try to personalise it's starlink router DNS? What are the experiences ? How to do it? What are inconvenients and advantages ? Thanks 🙏
The same ethernet cables that went into the Telus router and extender don't work when plugged directly into the Starlink router (there are 2 ethernet ports from the wall and i'm not sure which is the main link so tried both and one at a time). The ethernet directly from my computer into the SL router works and shows it's hard wired.
We have everything in the house hard wired in all the rooms (tvs etc) and it worked before. I tried a new Cat6 cable, but a laptop in another office doesn't see it. Wifi works on everything. The electrician that brought the satellite cable through the house to the router AND an I.T. guy are coming Monday but would be nice if it were a simple solution. pls help! (and please dumb the answers down, i'm not very techy lol)
I paused the service 3 months ago. Wanted to start up today. NOPE. the resume button doesnt work, there is no place on my Starlink account to resume or start service. There is no button to cancel service so I can sign up again, there has been no response from the help desk since 10am this morning. Frustrated to say the lease. How do these people put a tech system together and the buttons done work? Not ready for prime time. Customer support is worse
I’m trying to activate my new dish and it’s unobstructed, but I cannot even get to that part because my phone won’t connect to the WiFi. It did connect a few times, but dropped after less than a minute. I’m not using a VPN. What can I do?
Im looking to mount a starlink on property in the sticks. When I use the 'check for obstructions' in the app, there is an arrow indicating the starlink should be pointed in that direction. There is open sky, but not in the direction of the arrow. What is the arrow?
Was using Starlink in my rural area on roaming from a neighboring country. Am in Zimbabwe. Account was in Malawi. Now that Starlink is available in Zimbabwe, all roaming has been cut off. The trouble is that I have been trying to transfer my account to Zimbabwe with no success. As far as I know, I have been using the service since July 25. That would seem to fulfil the 90 day requirement. But when I try to transfer the equipment, I get an error saying the time threshold has not been met. I know it's not an issue of oversubscription. I use my starlink in a very rural area where I am most likely the only user within 50 miles. Anyway, the wait period does appear to be rather unreasonable. Maybe there is a reason for it but for it's hard for me to grasp. So now I have to wait another month or so before using my equipment. Never mind that I was switched off 2 days after paying $100 as subscriptions
I've had my Starlink for about a week. As I add devices I rename them so I know what is what. I added about 15 devices and renamed them no problem. But now every time I try to rename a device it says "Failed to Save. Try again later." I've rebooted the router but no joy. Any suggestions?
Not a big deal, system is working fine but I can't check anything. I can log in with both a phone and the website via PC but I can't load any data, view my account or make any changes. I just want to check on dish heating and it won't let me see it. I can't get to support to write a ticket.
Found this POE mini adapter on The internet, but no one seems to sell it. The injector I don’t need but the splitter got my attention. Any ideas ? I would power the mini with a Poe capable switch and than you’ll need only one cable for the mini.
Hey folks, as the title says above I am a new long haul OTR company driver (not an owner operator). I’m a big gamer, so I’ve been looking into getting Starlink once my first paycheck hits. The issue I have currently is that since I am not an owner operator, I cannot permanently mount or attach anything to the outside of my truck. Which Starlink device do I need to get that will provide me with the best connection possible in games such as Call of Duty? I will obviously not be in motion while playing so that isn’t an issue 😂 I’d like to be able to hardwire to my PC if at all possible. I can put it on the outside or roof of my truck while stopped and run any cables through the side window. Thank you!
