Had to completely disable ipv6 and force dns over tls and DoH to make it even work. There really needs to be a way to contact "support". I don't get how they can surround the planet with satellites and let a toddler do their networking and push it to production without testing basic connectivity.
Move fast ,break things, answer to no one by making support go to dev/null.
How has your gaming experience been?
Hey all,
I just wanna state that I am very thankful for starlink and understand its new technology to there is going to be hiccups and as the technology progresses it will get better and better. However, I've had star link for close to a year now and I've been having the same problem over and over and customer service doesn't seem to help. Here is the information followed by the problems.
- I live in a Tiny house on wheels. It is 232 SQ ft. No walls obstructing the view of the router (sits about 5-7 feet away)
- My dish has an unobstructed view of the sky.
- I live in Northern Idaho
- I've done hundreds of speed tests in the past couple months, checked connections, and ever starlink sent me a new router/dish that I am currently using.
- I bought the ethernet adapter and it does not seem to help ether
- I bought a third party router and that doesn't seem to help ether. The router I bought was a TP link that ran me about 125 bucks with wifi 6
- All my neighbors who live within 1-3 miles of me with starlink all get 125-150 MBPS on their set ups as I've been to their house and tested it multiple times. It just seems to be me and me alone.
- My laptop is a chromebook but my wife has a brand new laptop that I've run tests on and it does the same for her. Her laptop is super expensive (marketing, graphic design, etc)
problems;
- When I do the wi-fi range test to see how strong the signal is, it says its at 62%.
- When I do a speed test it will bounce from 6 MBPS ,30MBPS,150MBPS,and pretty much every MBPS in between (i've done probably 200 speed tests in the past 6 months)
So I guess Im wondering how to boost the signal to 100% or close to it and how to resolve this issue.
I was hoping it would be better than via sat but nope. Starlink sucks. Constant disconnects. Granted I live on a mountain but I thought it would be better than Viasatt! Viasat!? Glad I never took down my old dish
Yesterday I had my starlink on the garden outside my house with more than 40% obstructions and was getting 250mbps download, today I moved it to the roof with 0 obstructions (the map is all blue) and now im only getting like 30mbps download speed, can anyone help me with this?
Is it allowed, and is it necessary or is it how it's supposed to happen?
Why is it literally fucking impossible to upgrade my plan to business. I have the standard dish and $120 Mo plan. I also pay for another 5 g service but id cancel if my needs are met with an upgrade. Id like to upgrade to starlink business but whenever I follow the directions on how to manage my subscription the option they say to hange my plan is not available. I challenge you to go into the app, read the directions on the support page, and attempt to upgrade following them. You’d figure they would make it easy for customers to spend money. Im 23 i know my way around a website. Anybody upgraded to business before? I want to keep my dish just have some priority data.
We had a thunderstorm last night with 30 mph winds, rain and hail. I've done everything I can think of and still nothing. I've restarted the router a million times, I've unplugged the dish itself and left it unplugged for about an hour. I tried to put it in stow mode but even after leaving it flat for 15 minutes nothing happened. I finally factory reset it and it made it even worse, because I no longer have a network to connect to lol.
I've been getting the same message on the app saying it's either unplugged or rebooting. And that the router can't connect to the dish. Is there anything I can do or do I need to file a ticket and get a replacement, if they'd even send one.
Its a gen 2 model
I currently have gen 2 equipment and it meets my needs most of the time, but just curious if gen 3 provides better speeds?
A local organisation in Sudan says it received confirmation that Sudan will be an exception in the upcoming service termination for unauthorised countries.

Hello! I'm in Kenya, and Starlink is on sale in Kenya right now until May 15. It's temporarily dropped from around 89,000ksh down to 39,000ksh making it a 56% price reduction.
We don't have electricity at our main home, but I'd love to take advantage of this Starlink deal. For most of the year, we get very strong sunlight from 7am to 6:30pm.
Would either of these solar kits be able to power Starlink or have enough capacity to power it for 3-4 hours into the night (considering we usually get 11-12 hours of sunlight? I don't know anything about solar and batteries.
Option 1 - Link
300watts solar panel
200ah 12volts battery
20A controller
600 watts inverter
Option 2 - Link
400w solar panel
200Ah battery
40A controller
1000w power inverter
Does anyone have any experience with any 3rd party wall mount for the Gen 2? The starlink ones are a bit expensive so I'm looking for something cheaper. I get a lot of wind and snow in my area so it needs to be very sturdy.
Hi all!
I have had Starlink for a year now. Usually seeing 40-80 down consistently. We are running the gen 2 bypassed to a unify dream router (it made no difference for speeds, I just wanted to add some access points).
We have a small area of obstruction from the obstruction view and on the Starlink desktop UI, we have the “poor cable performance”. Starlink credited me one month of service and instantly shipped me a new cable.
The error has been there for 6 months or so, but I never noticed the service change when it showed up.
Do you think I should bank on the cable making a chance or try and rid myself of the obstruction as well?
Thanks!
I've tried using foreign bank cards to pay for my Starlink monthly plan in Nigeria, but every time I try, it is declined and I receive the following two messages “Payment was declined. Please contact your credit card company, or try a different payment method.” and “Payment method failed validation.” What is the issue and how can it be resolved?
You used to be able to view the Starlink router dashboard by going to the gateway IP, but not any longer. Did something change?
I really wish this was more well-known. I was scared to death to try to add in extra routers because I'm not tech savvy but it was a rather simple process and the results are outstanding.
Hear me out - Starlink releases a new router. Suddenly speeds are down, connectivity issues are happening, all the things? How else do you make more money than forcing your customers to purchase new equipment. That’s my tin foil hat for today.
That i want to know how it performs in that specific task. =)
Hey all,
My starlink has been acting weird. Two days ago it just turned off and then back on, a few hours later it then turned off but was stuck on booting. I then went through all of the motions of rebooting the router, power cycling and all that fun stuff. For some reason the app was telling me the eternet ports were broken even though they worked fine before and after. Anyway it started working after a router reboot.
It was working fine and then it's started again. The app says something is wrong with the ethernet ports and I have no internet because the app says starlink is booting, it'll say this for a few seconds then stop. The starlink itself is making it's noises and I don't smell any burnt electronics, do I just need to bite the bullet and get a new cable?
Emails from Starlink stopped showing up where they always have. This just happened to be the one time my account the auto pay pulls from, went empty. They sent many failure to pay notices, but I was not getting any of them. Now I cannot log into my account to pay the bill it’s telling me I have to finish user set up which I finished last year. Does anybody know what to do? I don’t have Internet now.
I haven't had any issues with starlink...ever! The past few days I've been lagging the last thing I was thinking was that it was my Starlink service. Checked my speed and I'm all the way down to 56 Mbps. It's changed from amazing service to the same service I can get locally for 66% of the price.... Disappointing, I showed up in for beta testing 4 years ago, first time I've been disappointed.
To Bypass or Not to Bypass the Starlink Router?... That is My question.
Will I benefit when bypassing the Starlink router? What are the pros and cons?
I want to place it on the garden I hace on the outside but later on I want to move it to the roof, is it posible to position it there today, and tomorrow move it to the roof? , I know it might be a dumb question I'm just to new on this
Is it possible to purchase more than one device from starlink or must it be from a reseller. I wanna buy 20pieces and I'm in Nigeria.
I think it would be really cool if starlink subscribers were allowed to use the cell service through starlink.. Maybe a extra charge per month? I would think that it really shouldn't matter what cell service you have - you would just give them your IMEI number (or whatever)
