Hi everyone, yesterday I installed my Starlink antenna, I wanted to ask you a couple of questions. Is the speed variable for you too? sometimes it does to me 50 MB in download 260 or 300. swing type. then I'll attach a photo of the obstacles, can these be annoying these red dots? Thanks to anyone who answers me
I live in rural Michigan. The only internet provider I can get out here is Frontier unless I wanted either Hugh’s net or Starlink. We have a plan through frontier where we are supposed to get 25mb down and 10mb up. I know it’s bad but trust me it gets worse. Currently the best download speed I have ever gotten was 3mb down and 1mb up. It was bearable for a few years seeing that interruptions were not super common but these last six months have been unbearable with pings being 300 - 500 on nearly everything. I had my provider take a look and the best answer I got was that they reset something down the road and it’s good to go now. (I have no knowledge on how any of that works) I’ve heard Starlink can be rough in places like where I currently live but would it ever be this bad? Would Starlink be an overall upgrade worth the money? Is there something I can do to maybe get better internet with my current provider? I’m a pc gamer but other than that the most that would be connected is a tv and a couple cell phones. Thanks in advance!
So I'm about to work abroad around the Enga province and have just been told that we are limited to 2gb for our swing. No streaming or video calls. Nothing So I'm looking into getting a starlink but I can't quite get a solid answer whether or not I can bring and use starlink into the country, I did hear they got a license for 5 years but then I also read that European expects had there starlinks confiscated at the airport...
Can I open it up I’m tired of them no answering . I have told them multiple times disk is damaged there is water inside , it had more but I got it out , no i did not open it or made a hole in it. Please help me I need it for my little brother therapy and school work
Which do you use to align your starlink dish?
I first used the app and got it basically perfect. Then I opened up the diagnostic page (192.168.100.1) and saw that the tilt was off by 8 degrees and the rotation off by about 2 degrees.
So I used that page to align and got both of those to less than 1 degree off.
But then looking at the phone app its telling me that now my dish is misaligned.
However, internet works fine in either case. I haven't tested speeds or anything between the two different alignments yet though.
Which do you use and why? Seems like using the diagnostic page would make more sense to me.
Freckles everywhere 😂 (& no this did NOT affect it at all, text says unobstructed and had stable ping everything as normal)
Purchased Starlink couple days ago, best decision ever made. Done soooo many speed tests and none have dipped below 200mb.
Anyone rural with bad service, I highly recommend.
I'm trying out T mobile since the speeds and price is decent, but the strict nat is a huge pain the ass where some games won't even play. So now i'm looking at starlink once again. From what I've read starlink also has a strict nat, is that true? Is there a way around it for gaming?
I haven’t been a fan of Elon for years but reluctantly switched to Starlink because it’s better than the other options in my area.
Without getting too “political” here, the salute thing really confirmed it for me and I think the conflict of interest is huge. I don’t think he should be anywhere near the gov.
Anyone else worried or is everyone here just a big fan and supporter?
Is there any alternatives that are not rooted in naziism, I saw on cnn he raised his hand in support of hitler...
I’m going to be in Nicaragua for a few months and i was wondering if i could take my dish or mini and use it there?
Hi I’ve got a version 2 Starlink it’s great. My parents are moving and will need Starlink can I get a mini on my account linked to my address and will they then be able to use it at their house. And take it away with them. They go away regularly in the uk. Thanks for any advice
I have a V2 Dishy that I will transfer to someone else. If I reset the hardware, will there be any changes in price?
I read that the device must have a clear, unobstructed part to the sky.
I initially thought that meant a window or balcony, i.e. anywhere where one could see the sky.
However, I see people say this in not the case.
If I'm traveling, and staying in apartments, with no access to the roof, I can not use Starlink effectively?
Thanks
Hey there. I am about to buy a house that is in a slightly more rural area. The only wired internet option is 10down 10up DSL.... Or I can pay spectrum 11k to run a line to my house... no thanks.
So this has got me looking at either the tmobile 5g internet, or Starlink.
Im guessing there were others in my same situation that ended up going to with SL. Why would you suggest me to? Why not?
My only real internet needs are working from home, so lots of zoom calls. And some basic streaming.
Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts all. I’ve done some research on the subject already but am curious for my specific situation. If I somehow missed a thread where this is identically answered feel free to yell at me with the link(s).
Looking to pickup a star link mini or standard for when I’m working from my truck camper. No need for star link at home.
I’m a project manager and usually have a number of tabs up from project tasks to management tools, but nothing too heavy duty as far as I assume. I do lead 3-1hr calls per week with about 30 people and must be on video sharing my screen, with all other attendees on video. For personal use I watch YouTube videos but don’t anticipate doing any heavier streaming or uploading.
Could mini support this speed wise? I’ll be getting the unlimited plan month to month with pausing when I’m not planning a trip anywhere.
The cost of the standard kit sounds more enticing, but the portability of mini sounds perfect assuming I can get enough speed to use it successfully. I’ll be powering this from a 500w Jackery power bank.
Thanks again for the shared expertise!
Speedy quick!
why is it just 25 Mbps while others get 100+ or smthn 🙃
I bought Starlink Mini in Panama. It is supposed to work in all LatAm except Brazil and Mexico. Is there any way I can use it in Brazil for a month?
On US page Roam got the same price but nothing is mentioned about Brazil / Mexico limits. Is it a hardware limitation?
So we have a gen 3 starlink system in the Caribbean. We just got this message today on our system.
We are traveling to our house down there on Monday. My thought is we buy a second system today at Best Buy. The local Best Buy has them in stock
Do we buy another gen 3 system? Do we buy the mini?
I have a small network setup at the house with 3 orbi satellites. Will they work with the mini?
If we don’t go with the mini and purchase a new gen 3, do we need to bring the antenna down? Is the antenna tied to the router in any way? Could we just transport the routers back and forth every time we travel to reset them?
Any cheap options from Amazon to extend my wifi signal 30ft? I only get 1 bar in my shed and want a better connection.
What is the current approach? In the past I saw Starlink Mesh Nodes for sale, but they seem to be legacy? So is the upgrade path to bypass and use a different router for mesh or Ethernet extension?
I have a Gen 2 router.
Ok, so I ordered a starlink mini roam device, it was 11 days late, so they sent me a 2nd one with 2 day shipping. On the 12th day the original device arrived, so I set it up and used it that day,I noticed that there were 2 devices on my account, I figured it was both devices they shipped to me. the next day the 2nd one showed up, so I mailed that one back. Later that day I tried using my starlink for the first time that day, and it wouldn't connect- I ended up looking on my account and realizing that my device serial number doesn't match the one on my account, and there is no longer 2 devices on my app. Support hasn't gotten back to me yet, but I think they deleted or locked up the one I'm using (the first one they sent) and left the 2nd one they sent on my account - causing me to no longer have internet. Is there a way to just switch the one I'm using back to my account? I'm going to try to get my 2nd one back from the drop-off spot for fedex once they opened, the tracking says it hasn't left yet because I turned it over after pick up time.
I bought the Starlink Mini, but the Wi-Fi signal range was so poor that I was only getting around 20 Mbps inside my house. As a result, I decided to purchase a Starlink Ethernet cable and an external router to use as my main Wi-Fi router instead of the Starlink one. Before making the switch, my speed was slow, but the ping was around 100 ms to European servers and about 200 ms locally. After connecting the external router, the speed improved, but the ping to european servers became much worse around 230ms . The router automatically applied whatever settings it had by default.
the router is a AX1500 Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router. anyone who can help?
