Extension cable question

I have an OG starlink and I'm looking to extend the cable that comes from the satellite to the power supply. The end looks like a cat6 cable? I have seen a bunch on Amazon but they all have weird ends that look like usb-c ends? Can't i just extend this one with a female to female adapter and an extra 30ft cable? Or do i need to go from the dish to the power supply with a longer cable. If you find one on amazing post the link please. THANKS!

Where to Place Router

Just got my Starlink standard kit, and I’m thrilled with the results—amazing speed.

I was planning on keeping the router outside on our covered porch, potentially in a box for protection. We’re in USDA zone 7a (Arkansas), so we don’t experience extreme temperatures, but we do get high humidity, rain, and occasional snow.

Is this advisable, keeping the router covered outdoors? I’m wanting to avoid having to drill a hole to run the router cable indoors, as we have cypress siding that I don’t want to drill into unless absolutely necessary.

The router is a Gen 3.

Emergency activation without secondary service like SMS, email or phone

I'd like to purchase a Starlink Kit for emergency use. So in case that local network providers are no longer available I'd like to then (re)activate the Starlink service. Key is, that for this activation no secondary service like email, SMS or phone is required.
Is this possible?

Best plan/Option

I've just acquired a house in the US that I will be using as a vacation home 3 or 4 times a year. Can the residental plan be paused when I'm not there or is Roam the better option? I'll most likely be there for a month at a time and will also be working from home as well.

Ethernet splitter fails

I have several devices I want to plug into the router but when I use a splitter only one device will boot up. I have tried different splitters and different devices in different slots, to no avail. Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated. I have 2 security cameras, one smart Tv and a AT&T cell phone booster I am trying to hook up.

Does the Starlink mini have an RJ45 input or do I have to buy a separate adapter?

Firewall issue with Fortnite?

Just added an Ethernet attachment to my Gen 2 system, now i need to power cycle my router to get voice chat to work on Fortnite. No other applications have this problem, just Fortnite, so I assume it’s some firewall issue? Not sure how to proceed.

Need clarification on what plan and hardware to get

I want to get the roam plan and thought I could purchase a standard kit model for it but it seems I’m only able to select the mini hardware. Does anyone know if this is a recent change?

Good experience with phone support (866-606-5103 USA)

After less than a month of decent (occasional downtime) & satisfactory download speeds (150-350), things started to deteriorate with no connectivity and router constantly rebooting, trying to download update and rebooting after multiple factory resets, opened 2 tickets with the call back coming after a day for the first ticket or 60 minutes after the call which was probably generated the call back - be prepared to deal with a VRU and leave a message. The rep was articulate and intelligent. Probably using a checklist but fluently.

The finding was a hardware problem with this brand new equipment so sending out a new kit. Hoping for a better outcome otherwise back to less expensive and, so far, more reliable Spectrum.

UPDATE - NOT SO GOOD EXPERIENCE- new kit shipping delivery date is 2-3 weeks out. Contemplating cancelling in unreliable platform.

No response from support ticket

Hi,

My Startlink router seems to have died, I think its an issue with the power supply. I've sent a support ticket two days ago, but have had no response.

How can I get in touch with someone to get this fixed?

Starlink Restricted "Account not active"

Not sure if this has been an issue for others. But today my internet which had been working fine since launch decided to crash out. Router had a solid red light. App said I do not have an active subscription even though I'm still getting billed and the status was restricted. It asks to activate my subscription but goes into thinking I'm a new customer wanting to charge me $31 to activate.

I power cycled and now the router just continously blinks the white light with the same messaging on the app. Sent in a ticket but who knows when they'll respond. Not sure how they don't have traditional phone support yet at all. It is the first gen router and dish as well.

If anyone can help that would be fantastic.

Starlink troubles

Neither my printer or WiFi extender can locate my Starlink? I can’t print or extend my WiFi because the devices simply won’t locate the WiFi signal? Any suggestions besides rebooting router & returning printer to default?

Account access

So my old employer was paying for my starlink, and I need to get into the account to change the payment method, but the email and phone number used for the account is no longer accessible. What do I do?

Powering Starlink Mini with Jackery Explorer 300

Hey everyone. I'm looking to get a Starlink Mini so that I can work my remote job out of my camper van. Power consumption calculations/wattage/etc makes my head spin, so I just want to double check here on whether people think that using the Jackery Explorer 300 to power the starlink for 8 hours at a time would be feasible. The Jackery battery that I have says it has a 288Wh capacity. I've read that the starlink mini consumes 20-30 watts. 30w x 8 hours of work= 240 watts, which is within the billed 288Wh capacity of the Jackery. Is the calculation really that simple, or are there other factors that could effect this? I'm just trying to be absolutely certain my battery can sustain one before I buy the starlink because money is quite tight and I won't have enough for a beefier battery for a while. If it's pertinent:

--I live in an area where it's between 40-60 F during the winter ( I had read something about "heating mode" and it consuming more power

--My job is exclusively talking to clients over VOIP (I don't know if the actual internet usage effects power consumption)

--I will have the Starlink just resting on the roof of my van, and connect it to the battery bank inside via 4 sih feet of cord.

Apologies if this is a dumb post, I just get really overwhelmed trying to parse out electricity related things lol not in my wheelhouse at all.

Consistently getting incorrect password on some devices but not others

I have a Starlink that I set up and works, it connects to my PlayStation 100% of the time, connects to my phone most of the time with it cutting out some, and it simply will not connect to my laptop or iPad at all, I’ve even gotten an offer from my phone to share the correct password to my iPad and it still shows me an incorrect password message anyway. it’s extremely upsetting and I’d appreciate any advice anyone can give

A little assistance would be appreciated

I have a client who is looking for a secondary/failover solution that is higher speed than cellular. Their primary right now is Comcast Business, but they will be upgrading to fiber mid 2025. The problem is that their business relies on the internet connection. They have existing infrastructure with a secondary WAN connection, but cellular is just too slow and has high latency.

Can someone tell me what equipment they would need to use Starlink? It appeared that the power supply has a LAN connection, so they wouldn’t need the router. They own the building with a flat roof and parapets…. And there are no obstructions at all surrounding the building.

Thanks in advance.

Starlink does not work upon initial set up

We have been without internet since before Helene. Trying to set up my uncles starlink yesterday, after having successfully connecting my own and my grandmothers, and his kept popping up an error saying unplugged or rebooting. I have checked all connections, rebooted several times, and ensured there is no stress on the cable. The dish itself looks fine but sounds like crackling bacon. It is important to point out that there was a hole in the box when I received it. I just need help figuring out what to do. I have turned in a ticket, but still haven’t had a response.

Unable to sign into account

As the title says, I am unable to sign into my account. The two-step verification sends an email with a code, I don't even receive the email. I can't contact support because I have to be logged in for that. Has anyone else had this issue? I also can't even get the code text to me because for some reason I put my landline number, not my cell. I'm located in Canada, not sure if that's relevant or not but I feel like I'm losing my mind trying to get access to my account. Any help would be appreciated.

Question about initial startup

If i buy a starlink mini, and leave it in the box, if we have a storm and lose internet, and phones, can I still get online? Or do I need to set it up and make an account before using? I'm looking to keep it at our place in Florida in case another hurricane takes out utilities for more than a few days.

Connection quality seems to tank between two locations 100 miles apart.

I'm currently in Texas and near Victoria, we seem to have no issues at all with connection. Streaming is smooth, downloading is fast, ping is great. But when we go 100 miles or so north to Gonzales, it seems we have so many more issues with connection quality. Lots of issues streaming. Any idea what the issue could be? The only difference is when we are in Victoria we are out in the middle of nowhere, but in Gonzales we are a bit more in the town. Interference maybe? The dish is in a wide open area with no obstructions.

Starlink connectivy issues! Help!

My family recently switched over to Starlink for WiFi, and everything initially was great. We installed the satellite on the roof and for the first day or so the signal worked wonderfully. After about 12/13 hours or so we began experiencing problems with the WiFi. The system will go online and offline randomly throughout the day for minutes at a time.

Whenever the app says we are connected, only certain apps will work? YouTube and Netflix for instance will work without a problem, but Fubo, twitter or instagram act is if I’m disconnected and will not update. Even accessing Reddit, I have to use my mobile data.

I have factory reset our system twice, and disconnected and reconnected all wires and still these problems persist. I don’t understand what would’ve happened that the service was great for the first half day or so, just for us to be plagued with these problems now. Any suggestions for solutions?

Cannot receive the validation code

Hello, I can't receive the validation code by email or text message even though I have access to both.

NB: I made an email error when creating my Starlink account but I was able to create the email address exactly as I entered it by mistake when creating the starlink account.

But I still can't receive the validation codes either by email or by text message.

Thank you for helping me.

Warmly

Help

My power went out last night and this morning I woke to my WiFi down. My network is no longer appearing on my device and my gen 3 router has a constant violet light. I’ve attempted to factory reset, power cycle, unplug the dish, everything I could think of to no avail. Is there something im missing or is the router toast?

Looking for Advice for Starlink Setup with Multiple Routers

Looking for Advice on TP-Link AX73 for Starlink Setup Hey everyone! I'm setting up Starlink for my property, which includes two Airbnbs. My plan is to use Starlink > TP-Link AX73 router > fibre > TP-Link AX50 routers for each Airbnb. I'm trying to ensure the best possible speed while staying budget-friendly. Has anyone used the TP-Link AX73 or something similar for Starlink? How does it handle speed, reliability, and range? I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone with experience running a setup like mine or using multiple routers with fibre to extend coverage across properties. Would you recommend the AX73, or should I consider another option in a similar price range? Really appreciate any insights or suggestions! Cheers!
