I'm a big reader here and although I've only visited one of them (Bookends in Florence section of Nhampton), I counted like three other bookstores, most of which are somewhere around downtown or somewhat closer. I hear Ravens Used Books is cool to browse.
In addition, there's a bookstore in nearby Easthampton called Book Moon which is located somewhere downtown.
And then there's another bookstore in Southampton called Hertiage Books.
I've only seen one bookstore thereafter for miles south of the Hamptons in the Springfield metropolitan area. Unfortunately, There's only one independent bookstore left in Springfield or anywhere in the greater Springfield area. It's located right off I-291 & Route 20. It's called Red Brick Bookstore. There's no bookstore for many miles thereafter. The closest one east of Springfield is either in Palmer or Monson.
It seems for y'all avid readers that Northampton is lucky to have so many bookstores in that city especially since there used to be a lot of independent bookstores all over Springfield and everywhere many years ago and then Amazon took over and shut down most of them overtime.
I think we're hungry for more books!
I’m trying to find a way to get to a show (starts at 8pm, ends at 11pm) in NYC without having to spend the night in the city. Is there a way to make this work to leave the city after my show ends? I’m good with traveling late night (eg 12am-3am), I just don’t want to pay for a hotel room.
Hi all,
I'm looking to start playing my alto sax again after a long hiatus, and was curious if there were (preferably free) areas I could go to practice?
Music studios for recording and podcasting seem too professional for a hobbyist like myself, any ideas?
Hey everybody move from florida, not used to the cold yet but trying to make new friends here and don't know where to start m27 love learning new things, art, music, dancing and the outdoors and travel. If you have any suggestions would please let me know thanks in advance
Hey now that Faces is long gone, anyone know where I could get some of that kitchy stuff? Cedar chest, Newbury comics and urban outfitters are a negative.
I got some new window a/c's earlier this year and I think I'd like to get them cleaned before they go into storage to prevent mold growth. If you can recommend me any businesses that provide window a/c unit cleaning services, please share! Doing it myself might not be an option unfortunately. (Also, any tips to prevent mold growth are appreciated!)
Hi everyone.
I’m potentially moving to the area in the early summer. I was wondering what the best way to find roommates is in the area?
Thanks!
Hi all, Wondering if there’s anywhere local that shows Premier League games that’s also kid friendly?
Thanks for any suggestions!
i can’t help but wonder what is up with that. it’s heartbreaking.
Wondering what happened at sub Rosa over the weekend, their Instagram mentioned something related to them being pro-Palestine and curious if anyone had any other details
Does anyone know anywhere nearby where you can recycle things like plastic bottles and cardboard for free? I live in Hadley and apparently they don’t have a program set up.
Would have been around 8pm? Saw him walking down Pleasant St headed towards downtown. He was in a really elaborate cosplay, more intense than a Halloween costume. Was perplexed as he walked by and wondering if anyone knew what event he was headed to (if any)?
Likely moving to your area folks. Apologies in advance! Looking for a brief summary of comparison between home life, social life, elementary schools in Nhampton and Ehampton. Hell, throw a few more hamptons in there if you want. Assume former city folk middle aged parents w elementary age kids, not going out much, just working and tending to young kids. Hiking, nature stuff, bike riding and breweries are of interest too. Ps I know that’s not a lot to go on, do your best please!
Hi! New to the area and would like to find some people who would like to get a local band going for fun. I'm 28 and influenced by punk, indie, industrial and other goodies. Some current inspirations are Idles, Parquet courts, Dead Kennedys death grips and plenty others. I've played guitar for well over 15 years with some vocal ability. I have some synthesizer and daw experience as well. Happy to play bass, happy to jam with any brass players or anything out of the ordinary. Shoot me a dm with your inspirations and maybe we can pick some covers to get the ball rolling!
Are there any goat farms that have opportunities to pet and interact with goats? Willing to pay for the privilege. Goat cheese for sale a bonus.
I’m looking for someone who might be willing to talk with me about the average schedule for faculty and staff. I’m coming from a school with notoriously rigid duty schedules, and I’m curious whether working here would be any better?
New to the area soon! Looking to understand what health care spots are preferred by folks, even just for normal adult stuff (colds, flu etc)and the usual kid ailments (ear infections etc) for kids. Any place to avoid? Cheers.
Anyone have or have access to a surface grinder? I have two small parts I’m looking to take about 4mm off of each. I can compensate about $20 for the job if anyone is interested.
hi all, i just started seeing this girl who i want to take on a date out in noho and was hoping to get some input about restaurants with good vegetarian options for her in town! i’m not a vegetarian and have been doing my own research but it’s kind of hard to tell what’s good or not, any input is appreciated!
My gf and I (both 26F) are moving to Northampton in the spring. We’ve been in San Francisco for a few years.
What are people’s experience with making friends? Any tips or ways people found community? We both don’t drink. I have really no interest in partying or bars which I feel is how most people my age make friends.
I’m a major bookworm. Any good book clubs? I esp love fantasy and mod fiction. I love to camp and hike. I enjoy yoga, movies, vegan food. Honestly generic chill things lol.
Im a nurse and am a trained herbalist. I love some witchy shit. I grew up on Long Island and honestly miss my rough&tough northeasteners soo much lol!
Any suggestions are much appreciated <3
Is there anywhere in the valley for any sort of weekly action or just a place to get together to process the election and everything difficult in our world? Feel like everyone’s saying how important it is to find each other right now so just trying to find like minded people who genuinely care about community
Anyone have nearby recommendations for oat milk soft serve?

Looking for a climbing buddy (preferably belay certified) to climb once or twice a week!
Lmk :)
Hey! I am looking to move to Northampton on December 1st.
I have no pets and am self employeed as a small business consultant. (Paying rent will not be an issue)
I like snowboarding, hiking, going out on Fridays to have some fun, and listening to my record collection.
I'm very flexible, 420 friendly, although I don't smoke...more of an IPA guy.
I like dogs and cats, am very easy to get along with, and am also a bit of an artist (at times).
I'm a 34 year old he/him and am cool with living with anyone who is friendly and clean. I'm not a neat freak, but I do keep things clean. (You won't be washing my dishes)
If you're interested please reply to this post!
I'm looking for a one bedroom situation in a 2- 3bdrm house or apartment, or something like that. Rent is just too much to live alone!
Peace!

"Understand the root causes of America's interrelated housing crisis and the intentional responses your city can make to address it.
Housing is an investment. Investment prices must go up. Housing is shelter. When the price of shelter goes up, people experience distress.
This is the housing trap. It’s time to escape.
This presentation introduces a first-of-its-kind discussion of the tension between housing as a financial product and housing as shelter.
