I have been looking to pick up a bike for a while now and noticed that these models were on sale. I wasn't sure what model would be better as they're both the same price. I tried to look at the specifications of each but it doesn't seem that there is any difference besides the colors. I didn't know if anyone else could give me some insight into what the difference is between them, and if I'm missing something.
Additionally, are these a good model to pick up for a beginner biker? I used to ride as a kid however, was given a bike that was far too large (was told I'd grow into it... I didn't haha.) It looks like Specialized has bikes that would fit my height compared to some other brands. I wasn't looking to pick up a gravel/road bike as they are a bit out of my price range and I don't want to spend that much money on something if I don't like it, (I've also never used drop bars before.)
Is there another model that you'd recommend? Should I order the bike from a specialized dealer to get it assembled if I've never done so before?
Can anyone with a Toupe saddle measure the total length, and the distance from the nose to the widest part of the wings (along centerline of saddle)? I can't seem to find this online.
I'm overdue for a proper bike fit, but trying to set my trainer bike up for now. I had a Retul fit with a Toupe saddle a few years ago but have since swapped out for a shorter nose saddle. I think my seat position needs some work so trying to figure out where the Toupe would have been based on Retul numbers.
Thank you!!
Finally took my first spill on my crux comp on a mtb trail lol. Curious what your thoughts were on the damage, seems to me it's just the paint that came off but looking for another opinion. Thank you!
Anyone have experienced cancelling their order a day after placing?
So i placed an order for an sl7 sport not knowing its an 9r carbon. But i dont want 9r. I want the 10r which is comp and for a additional 700 its already using di2.
I keep contacting rider-ha but no response at all.
Any advise?
Hi everyone,
I recently ordered a Stumpjumper evo from a Specialized store, and I was planning to assemble the bike myself. However, the employee at the store told me that they are required to assemble all bikes to ensure that the warranty remains valid.
This sounds strange to me. How can a customer not be allowed to build their own bike, especially when they’ve already purchased it? It feels like my freedom to do what I want with my own property is being taken away. Personally, I don’t believe Specialized would have a policy like this, but I wanted to confirm before jumping to conclusions.
Is this really an official policy from Specialized, or is the store employee just misleading me? I’d appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on this.
Thanks in advance!
When it says contact surfaces, does that include the inside (1) or should I just grease where the rail would sit (2).
Sorry, this is probably a dumb question.
Hey ou,
After riding and upgrading and loving my 2019 base alloy stumpjumper for 4 years I started looking around for a possible upgrade. Switch to 2021 gen carbon stumpy seems very appealing as even my shock would fit that so I could switch out stuff and keep the best components and sell my old stumpy as a complete bike. That would be cost effective, however I feel good on my current bike and wonder if such change is worth it? The main change would be 27,5 wheels to 29, alloy to carbon and also I am interested in that new geometry with flex stays. Maybe some of you made similar upgrade and can tell me if it is really good upgrade or is it just a hype of get something newer is getting to me?
Any fork recommendations? I want to replace the stock fork (X-Fusion MIG 27.5).
I have a Globe Work 3 (owned by Specialized, no longer in production) with 700x38c Flak Jacket tires. I would like to buy winter tires with spikes (Schwalbe Marathon Winter Plus) but I can only find them in 700x40c. It's too bad there arent studded versions of thebones I already own. I understand there is some wiggle room in terms of tire width but I dont know how to gauge whether they'd fit in the wheel and forks or not - I have had this bike for 10 years but this is my first full winter of riding and I havent needed new tires until now. Hell, I've only needed to replace the tubes twice.
In the need of an endurance bike, I missed out on a sweet deal for the pinarello X5 so now my choices are basically the Roubaix SL8 Comp, or Trek domane SL5. I’ve gone into two trek bike shops and came out of both feeling like I just talked to people trying to to get me to spend on unnecessary price gaps. So that leaves me feeling un easy about trek as a whole. So wondering how the future shock feature for specialized is? As the COMP is on sale for $3,000 while the SL5 is 3,500.
I don't know which one to choose. On one hand, I like the fact that the chisel is made of aluminum due to its resistance in case of a fall, and in addition, the reviews I read all say that it behaves very similar to the epic 8 and is €1000 cheaper. In your opinion, is it worth paying the €1000 difference for the epic, and have a Carbon frame and slightly better handling and ?
Thanks
Sold my mountain bike and a new road bike, and my local Incycle had some deals going. Looked at specialized Aethos, Sl7, Sl8, and some Giant bikes. Liked the Aethos and the Comp edition was on sale from 5k to 4k. Talked with the rep and asked for others bike in my price range, as i was looking at 3.3/3.4k max. He said they could work 3,400 total.
Initially I didn't have the Aethos on my radar, so I said I'll go online and compare to the others I was looking at. He said no problem, and to look at what they had online too and see if any stores had different deals.
I went home and saw the 2023 Aethos, for $2,750. I made a post about this, and was told to "go snag it that's an insane deal". I walked into the Incycle store at 9am the next day.
Incycle called the other Incycle to confirm stock and price, got it confirmed and then ordered it.
Two days rolls around, and I got a call that the bike was ready for pick up, so I rushed in. They pulled the bike and I'm looking at it perplexed, I ordered a black bike with white logo, and a SRAM group set, NOT 105.
Eventually I got a hold of the sales rep who helped me, and he said this "as soon as you walked out the door, we got a call from corporate asking if we sold that bike. We confirmed, and told them that we called the shop and everything was right." He then proceeded to tell me, "Marketing was messing around over the weekend and put some bikes that aren't released yet with the pricing we buy them for at." So basically marketing put the 2025 Aethos on the website for 2,750, and that's why the specs / pictures were different from the 2023 I thought I ordered.
"When we placed the order, it was labeled as a 2023 Aethos Comp in black. We are going to honor the price, considering it was on the website and we confirmed it, if that's alright with you."
I said "I need a bunch of gear, let's go shopping!" I got new shoes, pedals, water bottle cages and bottles, the lizard pack and everything needed to replace a flat tube etc". Total price was 3,200 + 200 tax. I was super stoked, and my gf was super stoked too (it was in the budget lol).
So far, even stock I love this bike. Right now just doing laps around a little lake, but pushing 20-25 miles a day.
Love live live this bike, especially at 45% off!
Hey guys. I’m currently running 28mm GP5K’s on my Aethos but I was thinking about going to 32’s. I put a set of Gravelking 32’s on the C38’s that came with the bike, but the tyre is very close to the front derailleur and Di2 wire. Anyone running 32’s without issues or should I look at 30’s?
So just purchased this bike second hand and gave it a minor face lift. Looking at adding a child seat for my 3yo boy to come for rides. Any suggestions?
Just ordered a Roubaix SL8 Comp. Pretty excited to get it. I ride mixed pavement and hardpack gravel. I'll be swapping my carbon wheel set from my Candondale. I've been using Carbon Salsa Cowchippers for the past few years and really enjoy them. I'm switching to the Roubaix for a more comfortable ride. At a minimum I'll be switching to carbon bars. Wondering if I should go with carbon OEM riswe bars, try the Cowchippers on the bike or maybe try an aero bar. Any recommendations? Do the aero bars work with the exposed cables? Thanks in advance.
Hit a few PR’s on my new bike, a Specialized Diverge Comp E5.
Before this bike, I had a Walmart built Schwinn MTB.
The price difference for the Tarmac SL8 frame is ~$2k. I assume I save money if I buy a complete bike- compared to just the frame
That would lead me to conclude that the s-works logo on complete bikes cost less than $2k.
Is this analysis correct? Not gonna lie, on the one hand, that's absurd for a different set of letters and 100g- but that's also cheaper than I thought.
