Sledding is the environmentally friendly alternative to skiing and snowboarding. Walk up the hill and sled down. Its such a universal concept that people sled on all sorts of devices from lunch trays and ice blocks to molded plastic and shaped metal crafts.
This is the home for a community of freesledding, tobogganing, rocketing, luge sledding, bob sledding, ice-blocking, and more. Share your adventures here!
Our favorite sled is the Mad River Rocket

Hello, every time I tried looking up "best women's snowpants", and by that I mean full-on overall bibs, all that comes up is ski pants. (All the reviews I've found seem to think that adults only ever ski or snowmobile in the snow, which is annoying - I still like to play in the snow!) I want legit snowpants, like really warm, waterproof, durable snowpants you can spend a day sled-riding in, that stay warm even if you end up sitting in the snow for awhile. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'd be using them for sledding, playing with kids in the snow like building snowmen, (which would involve a lot of sitting in the snow), etc. Also occasionally for archery hunting (sitting in a tree stand for long periods of time), and sometimes for cc skiing - but I'm not worried about getting overheated for that because I just take my coat off when cc skiing and let my legs be the warmest part.
My budget is $50-$200
My wife and I are going to some sand dunes next month and want to try out sand-sledding but I’m not sure what to get. I know that sand sleds need to be much more slick than snow sleds but thats about it. Any suggestions?
I have been sledding quite a bit and while I like what I call my boogie board, I want to get an inner tube. I know sledding tubes are prone to popping and where I sled has exposed roots and rocks and I have a few questions:
Thank you and happy sledding!
How did you find your best spots?
This ain’t no sledding
Taking my wife for the first time this year. What's a good sit/lay sled for a newbie?
