If you are directing insults or foul language to another member of the community you'll probably be banned without warning.
Advocating or suggesting or joking about inflicting physical harm on others will probably also result in banning.
No Commercial, Business or "Classified' Posts
Commercial posts or "classified ads" (buying, selling, trading, giving unwanted things away for free), help wanted, job wanted, housing wanted, housing for sale or rent, for-profit events) not permitted. No surveys.
It's great to ask for recommendations ("Who's a good plumber? What's a good garage for Toyotas?") and it's great to ask for job seeking advice.
It is okay to advertise a local benefit/charitable event where proceeds go to a cause in the Santa Cruz County community.
No Nudity/Exhibitionism or Nudity for Shock Value/Personals or Dating Ads
There are more appropriate places to display your body or your primary sexual attributes (or those of your SO or some random stranger you got a pic of), so do it in those places. Posting NSFW is not enough; this is largely a community discussion group. Posting nudes for shock value is also not what this sub is about.
No nudes ever? At the discretion of the mods. If you get a shot of a parade of naked protestors marching down Pacific Avenue, that's not shock value: that's Santa Cruz.
Personals or Dating posts are better suited in personals or dating subreddits, there are more than enough to meet your appetites in that regard elsewhere on Reddit.

This is a shot in the dark but I have a 1988 camaro that has PNO tags right now. I really need to store it somewhere. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the car but I dont drive it at the moment and I don't want to sale it just yet. But it's taking up a parking space and I really need that space back. Does anyone know where I could store it locally that isn't going to be super expensive? I'm looking for long term storage, about two years. Any advice would help!
Anyone know what's going on with Equinox? Heard that the winemaker passed away a few months ago and that his daughter would be taking over, but my mom told me she's hearing from friends that next weekend will be their last and they'll be closing up for good. Don't see any info one way or another on their socials.
Hi, we have recently moved to Santa Cruz. My step son’s Minecraft suitcase was taken last night from our car with his laptop, his stuffed animal monkey from when he was an infant and all his winter clothes for break. Any idea of what pawn shop to call about where this items could be. I know this probably long gone, but we really want to find monkey again.
Has anyone done a beach wedding in the area or nearby? Did you do just ceremony or also reception? How hard was it? Thanks!
Building downtown. Whose face is this 😂 it’s all over the building
Did anyone else just get an amber alert? But there’s no information? Anyone know what’s up?
Hey all! Like the title says. I'm looking for somewhere with Dark Chocolate Peanut M&M's.
Last year most stores had them. They are still in stock on the M&M website so they aren't discontinued.
Does someone know of a place that has them in stock?
Hi, did anyone witness a hit and run at the intersection of Capitola road and Clares St at today around 2pm? I know it was a black SUV that hit me in the left turn lane. Then they reversed, and sped off down Capitola road towards 41st. Please let me know if you're willing to share what you witnessed for a police report. Thank you
Anyone know of regular pickup soccer happening anywhere in SC county this winter? I'll be in town for a few weeks and would love to get some field time in. Turf/grass are good, and I could even do some futsal if there are courts around.
Hello folks!
I recently moved to Santa Cruz, CA and I am Italian. My little cousin (16yo) has a great command of English and I think it could be a super cool experience for him to come and visit me in CA for an extended period over the summer, say about one to two months.
Since I am going to be working (approximately full time) during his stay, I am searching for programs that could give his stay a goal. For example, some sort of volunteering program or summer camp for people of his age. Even a job could be great, but unfortunately it'd be illegal as he'd come on a tourist visa. The general objective would be for him to see a different country, practice his spoken English, meet people and just explore the world. I am confident that the experience would be enriching for him. I just need to find a nice environment that he could experience / explore during the week.
Any ideas? Where should I look for something like that? What do y'all think of this general plan?
Thanks for reading :)

Where are some good places to find nice Santa Cruz ornaments? I just looked at the boardwalk shops and they’re all kinda ugly… thanks in advance!!

hi, my name is corey, im 20 years old, and i have little to zero friends. i would really love to find some people to connect with platonically and be able to vibe with, so here’s a lil about me! :,)
i’m a transgender female to male non binary person, (they/he) and while i’m always up to be friends with anyone, it would be awesome to find fellow trans / queer ppl to befriend to have some sort of connection and understanding of one another!
i love animals, as i have two dogs one being a pitbull, and one being her daughter, a pit/doberman mix. their names are evie (mama) and rue (baby). they are my absolute world, and i love sharing them with people.
i play music! i love playing guitar and piano, and would love to find some potential band buddies to jam w :) i have a lovely boyfriend named ryan who also plays guitar, and can pretty much play anything he sets his mind to bec he is so talented <3
i love going to downtown santa cruz and chill at the melo melo kava bar. i haven’t been in a while, but it’s always a safe place i can go to.
i love going to the beach, going out for hikes, and pretty much anything that involves outdoors! :)
lately, i’ve just been not feeling so good, and i really need some sense of platonic relationships to engage in. i have a lovely boyfriend, and as much as i love him, i feel as though it’d be good for me to branch out and find other connections as well.
thanks for reading all of this if you did, and if you’re interested in being my friend, i’d love to give you my instagram and we could chat / plan a hang out :))
hope everyone is doing well, and is having a good holiday season! 🫶🏼
Hi y'all, make sure you get your comments in by tomorrow! Without community comments stops on the Westside of Santa Cruz, at State Park Drive in Aptos, and at Ohlone Parkway in Watsonville might not be included. That means no easy access to UCSC and Seacliff Beach. https://www.railandtrail.org/bignews/comment-now-milestone-3-rail-design
Want to take the kids out for some lights action tonight, any recs?
My nephews are in town through the weekend, any reccos on where teens hangout during the day and evening (other than Boardwalk)? They are smart & artistic 14-yo lovers of skating, basketball, gaming, & music (and girls). I wanna drop them off for a few hours so they can meet other kids (and be idiots).
My mom is devastated because that box had around $400 of gifts she’d ordered. As you can see in the video this dude rolls up and soon as he sees the packages, he doesn’t even HESITATE. Not to mention the cars driving by in the background on a busy street directly adjacent to downtown.
She did tell Amazon to leave all our gifts at the front door but the driver didn’t follow instructions. Still sucks this is something that could happen as a result.
I fucking despise “people” like this and truly wish them the worst. We are going to send this video to the police, but that’s no guarantee he’ll be identified, let alone caught and charged.
Anyone have ideas on how to deal with these people? Ideally one that won’t get me in too much trouble…
Does anyone have recommendations for guitar lessons in Santa Cruz? My six-year-old received a guitar for one of his Christmas presents and I’d would love to start him with a good teacher
Hi! my partner and I are gonna be spending some time in santa cruz on a roadtrip next week, and were wondering about safe spots to car camp. Our usual strategy is to do small highway pull offs, but i can’t find a single one in the area that doesn’t have a no parking sign. Are those really not safe to park at? any other good locations where we won’t bother anyone? thank you for the help!
Anyone have any idea what’s going on the westside on king street? Police, Fire and ambulance, hope everyone’s ok.
My friend is looking to buy some freshly caught Dungeness crab. Does anyone know where we could go to get that?
