Be kind to each other

If you are directing insults or foul language to another member of the community you'll probably be banned without warning.

Advocating or suggesting or joking about inflicting physical harm on others will probably also result in banning.

No Commercial, Business or "Classified' Posts

Commercial posts or "classified ads" (buying, selling, trading, giving unwanted things away for free), help wanted, job wanted, housing wanted, housing for sale or rent, for-profit events) not permitted. No surveys.

It's great to ask for recommendations ("Who's a good plumber? What's a good garage for Toyotas?") and it's great to ask for job seeking advice.

It is okay to advertise a local benefit/charitable event where proceeds go to a cause in the Santa Cruz County community.

No Nudity/Exhibitionism or Nudity for Shock Value/Personals or Dating Ads

There are more appropriate places to display your body or your primary sexual attributes (or those of your SO or some random stranger you got a pic of), so do it in those places. Posting NSFW is not enough; this is largely a community discussion group. Posting nudes for shock value is also not what this sub is about.

No nudes ever? At the discretion of the mods. If you get a shot of a parade of naked protestors marching down Pacific Avenue, that's not shock value: that's Santa Cruz.

Personals or Dating posts are better suited in personals or dating subreddits, there are more than enough to meet your appetites in that regard elsewhere on Reddit.

Hail Mary for anyone spotting my stolen electric motorcycle

My electric motorcycle, a Monday Motorbikes Gen7, was stolen on Friday night downtown Santa Cruz. I've never once seen anybody else riding this particular make, let alone model, so if anyone sees a bike like this I guarantee it's mine (99.9% confidence).

I realize this is a long shot and it's probably long gone by now, but here's to hoping ;(

Affordable Barber Shops

Hi All! I recently moved to Santa Cruz, and it seems getting a hair cut is expensive for me. I'm a male and it usually takes about 15 minutes to get my hair cut. Most barber shops around here that I am aware of charge more than 40$. Any recommendation for a more affordable/cheaper options around?

Pottery

Is there any pottery place that will let me fire my clay in their kiln? I have all my own materials, I just need to use the kiln itself.

What were all the shops behind the old Bookshop Santa Cruz before the '89 quake?

what were all the businesses in the patio behind bookshop Santa Cruz? I think there was Oswald's(I think), and I recall a coffeeshop across it. but can't remember the names.

Recommendations for Alterations?

I used to go to Porter Tailor & Cleaner but unfortunately it looks like they closed. Does anyone have recommendations for a tailor for day to day clothes, and is able to alter denim?

How much on average do you guys spend on groceries?

Just got a new place with brother, and sister. We are fully independent now. But I’m trying to budget on groceries and not over spend. I just would like to know how much is you guys budget or spending on groceries on average per month? I would take any example one person, 2, 3, or 6 people etc. Btw any tips or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Like shop at certain stores or new habits to build, what meals to cook?

Band in front of Books and Music Store on Halloween Night

Last night on Pacific avenue, under the Books and Music store canopy, there was this great band playing. The drummer was dressed as a jester and the guitarist had a spinny top hat and a onesie on. The lead singer also on guitar was wearing multicolored Leis and camouflage-type pants. They did a reggae sounding song that was just sooo awesome.

Does anyone know their name or where I can listen online? I didn’t get video because I was too lost in the moment!!

Thanks!

Parking overnight in downtown garage

I have a monthly parking pass to one of the downtown garages. I’m going to need to stay downtown overnight one night coming up (not a weekend.) Any idea if I can leave my car there with the pass?

Anyone else get eggs thrown at them last night? (Upper West near West Lake Elementary)

About 1030 pm last night (10/31) while driving home up High Street past Moore Street my SUV was the unfortunate target of two raw eggs. Fortunately both eggs hit my windows and not paint. I stopped but kept driving home as I had full car full of teens. I was able to wash off the egg right away and this morning everything looks ok. I was pretty upset/disappointed that this happened. Anyone else get hit? Should I file a police report?
