If you are directing insults or foul language to another member of the community you'll probably be banned without warning.
Advocating or suggesting or joking about inflicting physical harm on others will probably also result in banning.
No Commercial, Business or "Classified' Posts
Commercial posts or "classified ads" (buying, selling, trading, giving unwanted things away for free), help wanted, job wanted, housing wanted, housing for sale or rent, for-profit events) not permitted. No surveys.
It's great to ask for recommendations ("Who's a good plumber? What's a good garage for Toyotas?") and it's great to ask for job seeking advice.
It is okay to advertise a local benefit/charitable event where proceeds go to a cause in the Santa Cruz County community.
No Nudity/Exhibitionism or Nudity for Shock Value/Personals or Dating Ads
There are more appropriate places to display your body or your primary sexual attributes (or those of your SO or some random stranger you got a pic of), so do it in those places. Posting NSFW is not enough; this is largely a community discussion group. Posting nudes for shock value is also not what this sub is about.
No nudes ever? At the discretion of the mods. If you get a shot of a parade of naked protestors marching down Pacific Avenue, that's not shock value: that's Santa Cruz.
Personals or Dating posts are better suited in personals or dating subreddits, there are more than enough to meet your appetites in that regard elsewhere on Reddit.

I’m a 39yo lesbian and I am really struggling to meet single women my age for friendship and romantic partnership. I’ve tried going through the diversity center for clubs/events, but no success yet. No gay bars here (don’t drink anyway). Are there queer events happening?!
So is this permitted from a health code standpoint? I've seen more dogs inside grocery stores (well - New Leaf) in the last month or so than I've ever seen before. Did a law change, or was there ever a law...? Thanks!
What up. Moved here in June. I’ve lived in my hometown most of my life and I was pretty nervous about a change. Almost everyone I have interacted with here is not only super chill, but very kind as well. I am a student, 30, and everyone has been super supportive and helpful in finding info about stuff in the area.
I don’t really have any friends or anything. But it seems like most of the people here are very nice. Sure, some assholes in between, but every place has those. I see a lot of negativity on this sub directed at certain groups of people and it really sucks, because I don’t think Santa Cruz as a community is really like that at its core.
Thanks for listening ❤️
Passing through Santa Cruz today and have been craving crispy carnitas tacos. Thanks to this sub I found this spot. This place is a damn institution on solid tacos
Anyone know where to buy Santa Cruz Skate Company apparel at a discount around town? I’m trying to do some holiday shopping for some friends out of town.
Anyone know where to get a Belgian waffle around town? Sanderlings used to have one on their breakfast menu and it was so good. Anyone know of a good waffle around here ?
Anyone have old photos or have there been any write ups on its creation? Core memory climbing around on this (':
Just got a Catan expansion from Comicopolis (your daily reminder to go support them this holiday season!) and I’m tryna think up cool indoor places to post up with a board game and 4-5 friends. Currently I’ve got Lulu’s, 11th Hour, and Lupulo’s. Extra points if they’re open Sunday evenings. Any other ideas?
I was solely using Zillow for a while, and realized there was a world of houses I was missing out on. I’m only looking for entire place (no shared), and would prefer furnished but not a deal breaker
I’ve been seeking true tacos Al pastor. On the spit, trompo, style. I haven’t found, even in Watsonville.
Metro Balderas in San Jose is legit.
But it would be amazing if such a place existed here in Santa Cruz.
Looking for a therapist. I’m new to the area and am looking for a new therapist that can help with issues like PTSD, couples issues, and other stuff. Please let me know recommendations and rates? Thank you all :) .
You are perfection. That is the post.
16 + for a concert my son wants to go to. He's 14. If a parent attends w/ kid, does that work?
Hello all, gonna rent a skiff tomorrow at Santa Cruz. Anyone know a good location for Lingcod? 😭😭😭 always want to get one in my life.
Thank you!
I am looking for a structural engineer to inspect the foundation for a house and for recommendations (on how to reenforce of the foundation, for example).
Do you have any recommendations on who to contact?
If anyone finds my hat embroidered 'small axe tree care' I will gladly pay you to mail it to me. Much love SC, best town on the coast, thank you.
Happy Thanksgiving! Does anyone know if Seabright State Beach is open on Thanksgiving weekend; specifically on Black Friday?
hi! i am going to be spending my birthday in santa cruz tomorrow & wanted to eat at a local restaurant. i would love to hear your recommendations, preferably places that don’t cost an arm & a leg. thank you & happy thanksgiving!
Notice a smashed up Corolla parked in an odd place? Tan or Neutral color? Missing Toyota badge from the wrecked front? Happened last night. while the perp may have been trying to to head to the mountains on Graham Hill road, they panicked and fled to the West Side.
If you see anything that would be of interest, please dm or contact city police and reference incident number 59764

Trying to fill the caffe pergolesi shaped hole and feel the options are pretty dire. Seems like the current line up is:
UCSC has plenty of facilities for students, but the McHenry and Science & Engineering Library are open to the general public and on weekdays is generally open pretty late (11:30PM, 1:30AM during finals week, 8PM on Friday & Saturday)
Ferrell's Donuts on Mission is 24/7
Lulu Carpenters on Pacific seems to have reopened the interior seating but they shut at 9PM
11th Hour Coffee/Santa Cruz Food Lounge is open till 9PM
Starbucks on Mission is open till 9PM
Abbott Square Market is open till 10 on weekdays, 11PM on the weekends.
Unconventional picks:
McDonalds on Mission is open till midnight
Denny's on Ocean is open till 2
Doesn't seem to be the most conductive environment but bar's like the Red Room and Rush Inn are open late?
Anyone else know the hidden spots?
i’ve always wanted to be a hiking girlie but due to some medical conditions i can’t do a ton of overly complicated hikes. my partner also really loves nature so i figured a fun activity would be to do some easy hikes together, however since ive never experienced anything like that i wanted to get some professional advice from locals; where’s the best spot for an easy but still pretty hike in town? thanks in advance <3
