My girlfriend will be staying at my house for a week pretty soon, but my girl Chisholm (about 4 years old now) is not very friendly with strangers in the house. She will always watch people just doing repairs or something very closely, and unfortunately one time about a year and a half ago she bit a family friend who came over. She is well trained and has never done anything like that since, but I'm still scared she may bite my girlfriend. How can I introduce them properly so that nobody gets hurt? I was thinking maybe introducing them at the park or some other place not at the house, because Chis only seems to be aggressive towards people she doesn't know being in our house, but I'm not sure. Any advice?
I have a (almost) 3 year old male rottie - Pogo and another 5 year old female rottie.
Recently 2 incidents happened which have me a bit shook. My partner and I were just relaxing on the couch with Pogo on the same couch. I got off the couch and idk if I accidentally hurt him without realising it. He yelped for a second before going after my partners arm although my partner didnāt have anything to cause him the pain. Weāre still not sure why he yelped. And he didnāt just snap, he held on for a bit. He managed to pierce skin in multiple places with 2 deep-ish wounds possibly because of his canines. Fortunately my partner is okay and didnāt need stitches apart from being in some pain and needing first aid for his wounds. 2 weeks after that incident, Pogo was following me around the house and I accidentally closed the bathroom door on his tail. I freaked out and I heard a growl and next thing I knew he tried to come at me. I held his collar and turned his face away from me very instinctively. He got away and came at me again to which I did the same thing. This happened like 3-4 times. I yelled at him to stop and he did seem to momentarily stop and my other dog heard the commotion and walked into this and he went at her. He held on to her for a couple seconds before letting go. He was okay with me after that. Nobody was injured but for the love of me I canāt figure out why he kept coming back. Itās like a switch flipped in his brain and he needed to come at something and wouldnāt stop till he did. In both the situations, he didnāt see - at least I donāt think he saw that we caused the pain. He was blindsided but he just came at whoever was around the pain. Have any of you experienced anything like this? If yes, did you go to the trainer or a behaviourist?
A bit more of his history with people and dogs. I traveled with him internationally when he was nearly 2. His demeanour seemed to have changed after that. He became more afraid of people and also very watchful and reserved. He still continued to be a sweetheart at home for the most bit. He developed this tendency to lunge and growl at people if approached by anyone. He however doesnāt do that if he has a ball on his mouth. We are working with a trainer for this. There have been instances where me or my partner have accidentally stepped on Pogosās paw or accidentally caused him some pain. Heās been nothing short of a sweetheart when he sees that weāve accidentally hurt him. Not so much as a growl or a snap. And accepts apologies like a champ.
My other rottie is spayed and while they donāt share a very close bond. However they are chill around each other and will exist in the same room. They have had altercations over food or other times because neither would back down. I talked to a trainer about this and they said itās because both of them have dominant personalities. Neither have ever been seriously injured by these altercations
We just got another new members!!! We know one is a German Rottie and the other American Rottie! Can you tell which 1 is which ??? š¤ anyways meet Kratos and Athena :D š¤
My baby was crate trained, it was one of the first things we worked on when we got him. He has a roomy comfortable crate, and for months he was fine we would sleep through the night, but suddenly heās barking after an hour of putting him in there, and doesnāt stop until he gets taken out. Itās not as if he needs the bathroom we take him out right before bed time, and stay consistent on what time he goes in there. I just need advice on how to get him to calm down in the crate now. We give him a bone to chew on and a treat every time he goes in. we tried to make it a positive thing, we donāt use it for punishment itās very much his safe space. So please any advice you can give me will be appreciated.
Please help me find a breeder, ideally one with limited issues with aggression and health. Looking forward to your recommendations
Name suggestions please and some good advise on how to train and raise him right? So happy to finally be a Dad!
Hey yall. I have a 6 month old puppy. He follows commands such as Here, Sit, Down, Stay, Go, and NO very well. But I CAN NOT get a bark out...ever! He spoke a few times back when he was 2-3 months out of excitement. but now he's just not interested in making a sound besides wining...quietly too. I've tried jumping around, using toys as an excitement trigger, food, shouting, but nothing. I know it's a quiet breed but he has had 0 barks for months... Any tips on getting a quiet dog to speak?
This just showed up on my TikTok as I live in the PNW area and I love dogs, having a Rottweiler mix of my own. The owner of these dogs is trying to raise awareness and funds for a lawyer after this horrible situation. Her 3 Rottweilers escaped from her house while she was at work. According to neighbors the dogs were playing in a local field, and ānot acting crazy aggressiveā. Animal control was called but failed to respond to the report and this is what the cops did later. They shot all 3 dogs from over 50yds away and laughed and congratulated each other for their āgood shotā. 2 out of the 3 dogs died on site and I donāt know the condition of the 3rd. Apparently local media and the police department is trying to keep this story quiet and the police involved have faced 0 consequences yet as a result. Beyond that, they have also served the owner a ādangerous dogā notice in addition to murdering her dogs. If you want to learn more Michelle Swanson2b on TikTok is the original owner of these poor dogs and is seeking help getting a lawyer to get justice for her fur-babies. She has posted other body cam footage as well as many other pictures of her dogs who she has described as āher babiesā.
Iām absolutely disgusted with the actions of the police in this video and I hope that by bringing more attention to it that these cops face the consequences they deserve. They made 0 attempts to secure the escaped dogs or even get them to the local pound to help them get home, instead shooting at them from far away killing 2 out of 3 of them on site. They killed these dogs for simply playing in a field with each other.
Again if youād like to learn more about this please look up Michelle Swanson2b on TikTok as she is the original owner and she needs help with getting justice for dogs. Iām just trying to help spread this story so those cops face the consequences they deserve as the local media is attempting to keep this story quiet.
Picked her up yesterday for free from some girls in a Target parking lot after they rescued her and her siblings from being dumped in the woods. She's supposedly 9 weeks old, and mixed with pit or lab (we think pit).
We have a vet appointment scheduled to get her all checked out and the whole family is getting acclimated!

So, as the title says we have mold in our home. Not the "leave everything and run kind" but the kind that causes allergies. Its going to be thousands, that we just don't have, to fix. My little dide(almost 9 months) has started scratching and scratching. The vet wants to prescribed steroids but that doesnt seem like a long term solution. I'm giving him oatmeal baths every week.. should i do that more often? I dont want to mess up.his skin biome. Is there anything else i could do to help? He's very itchy, poor thing. I don't have family he can go with.
Updateā turns out he has what is called āSleep Startle Reflexā There is no āreal fixā for this behaviour as it's not a conscious choice but an instinctual behaviour.
For peace of mind, heās getting the boot from the bed, help me be strong to resist his cute face when I tell him the news.
My guy is 6 years old. Heās not aggressive at all, but not submissive either. He sleeps in bed with us every night. Sometimes we will kick/nudge him in our sleep and he snaps - he gets so cranky and will do a high pitch bark that always makes me jump, then will lay back down and sleep. If it happens to many times in one night he will actually nip us, he got my foot last night. He always apologizes after he does it.
What does this mean? Are we startling him while heās sleeping and heās just dazed, confused, and reacting? He does it always while sleeping.
Balki (cat) whipping tail into Gunther's face. š He loves to bug him.
Our Rottie girl gets wound up after she poops, then leap into me if I am sitting on the couch. If I am not in the couch, she will race around until she finds me. Her daddy refers to me a "Charmin" š¤Ø
