About /r/redditoncatholicism

This is a place for discussions on reddit about Catholicism or things of Catholic interest, but only those that are not from reddit's Cathol-o-sphere and are at least one week old.

FAQ

  • Where can I find some good discussions to submit?

Great question! Having such a long history and large population there have always been conversations about Catholicism going on around reddit since its inception. Try going to /r/all or your favorite non-catholic subreddit and use the search bar to search for catholicism related terms like 'nun', 'sister', 'pope', 'catholic', 'catholic charities', 'catholic theology', 'catholicism', anything! I'm always noticing new terms I hadn't thought of before that lead me to find new stuff!

  • What is an archived discussion?

  • Do I need to use the ".np" domain?

  • Due to a recent rules change, yes, this is required.

  • Why are only one-week-old discussions allowed?

  • Have you never heard that "The Church thinks in centuries?" ;) Not only does the one-week rule allow us to protect against brigading of other threads, which is against reddit's site-wide rules, but it also allows conversations to be seen in the calm light of time and not in "the heat of the moment" when fresh tempers may lead to poor discussions.

    Rules (please report any violations):

    1. No posts that are less than a week old.
    2. No offensive comments
    3. No posts from Reddit's Cathol-o-sphere, such as /r/Catholicism, /r/Catholic (to the extent that catholics frequently post there), /r/CatholicMemes, /r/Catechism, etc. nor from /r/Catholodox nor /r/Christianity. (All other Christian subreddits OK.)
    4. No participation on linked threads.
    5. You must comment on why you linked this thread—what it got right, wrong, or both in talking about Catholicism.
