New York Gives The Option to Enroll In 1 Of 4 Qualified Political Parties And The Option to Enroll In No Party And Be A Blank/Independent Voter
I'm furious at President Biden for enabling what I see as a genocide in Israel/Palestine, causing American-made bombs and shells to fall on huddled, starving civilians during Christmas Day, Ramadan, and Easter. If not for this issue, I would find Biden an acceptable, but far from ideal, candidate.
There is a movement among New York's Democrats to submit blank ballots to signify unhappiness with President Biden. See N.Y. Daily News, Mar. 30, 2024, Opinion | N.Y. Dems: Leave your ballot blank. However, I checked vote411.org, and I actually do have a choice of candidate, technically: both President Biden and Marianne Williamson will be on my ballot. I've noticed that Williamson has been decrying the violence in the Gaza strip and asking for a cease fire since before it became popular, which means a lot to me.
Looking for support for my petition. Looking to get NYS politicians to treat armed law enforcement positions as equals when it comes to serviceable credit towards our retirement. I know it's a long shot but I figured it's more beneficial than doing nothing! Thank you. https://www.change.org/p/serviceable-credit-for-police-and-fire-retirement-plans?recruiter=1151260773&recruited_by_id=5781c810-fde6-11ea-9456-012ba65f68bf&utm_source=share_petition&utm_campaign=petition_dashboard&utm_medium=copylink
Moderate, independent voter here. NYS Assembly is a lost cause for republicans. Nys senate is a bit more even.
Uphill battle for republicans, but I do think their time is coming, probably not this cycle, but I do believe they can chip away at their minority numbers. Thoughts?
If You Are Republican / Right leaning Independent What Gop Candidate Do You Support In The Gop Primary
There Are 3 Candidates
Voting is supposed to ensure the people control the government.
Elections consist of two parts. Selecting which candidates can win. And voting to elect them. Selection and Election.
From top to bottom, from qualifying for office, financing, team building, media coverage, partisan primaries, to the formatting of ballots, the selecting process provides a million inputs that don't involve voters at all. Yet at the end point, we still get a vote, what more could we have?
The the ballot and the casting of votes, can be expanded to take cover election and selection. Pulling much of that power out of all those external inputs and putting it in the hands of voters where it belongs.
So that is why I'm calling on people to reach out and do some letter writing and phone calls to transform their local government elections and build momentum for full on statewide reform. Trust me, local officials want to be involved in something big, and you are likely the first to ask them to.
The go to way to make voting powerful is STAR voting. Where voters score all the candidates they support to choose together who the two finalists are, and the finalist preferred on more ballots wins. Voters select and elect the candidates, no longer settling for someone else's picks.
George Santos was elected by the people of that district to serve out the full two-year term. This is a BS illegitimate election. That’s his seat until January next year. Absolutely outrageous and undemocratic.
Hey Jared - It's INNOCENT until proven guilty. Those are ACCUSATIONS. Kicking someone out over that which has not even been proven in a court of law is disgusting and unAmerican.
Can someone please confirm or deny the following scenario? Not asking to start something, I just had a discussion about voting laws in Europe and the US and this came up:
Is there a catch somewhere or is this possible?

The City of Kingston is pioneering a new model, which will see over 2/3 of all households receive guaranteed savings on their monthly electric bill. It will help move New York closer to its Climate Act Goal, which has mandated that 70% of the state’s electricity will be generated from renewable sources by 2030. Read more about it here.
