In regards to Disarmament: While this subs main goal is to look into clues and secrets left undiscovered in Phantom Pain, there is one infamous cutscene that we have yet to unlock. The "Nuclear Race" has been going on for a while now, and has led to the development of several subreddits that are dedicated to both disarmament and the creation and protection of nukes. It is possible that the disarmament ending could lead to unlocking a more satisfying ending (or even additional content) for MGS5, but we encourage finding a balance of FOB strategy posts and investigations into theories posted on this sub.
You can find a list of FOB based subs below.

I have a written treatment about halfway done for my take on what Chapter 3: Peace could’ve been. Along the way, I decided to also have the mission introduction/loading screen background change to reflect the narrative. Hope y’all like it lol.
TEW revolves around the study of human brain and a system called Stem, capable of creating simulated realities. There's lots of hints in the MGS games that imply that they ocurr in a simulation, the games even feature a device called the Koppelthorn engine that can create simulated environments. Kojima has a podcast called "Brain Structure" where he talks about creativeness.
The main antagonist of the games is Mobius, a group which goal is to take control of humanity via linking their minds to Stem. In Metal Gear, the Patriots want to control society.
Stem's main creator is Ruben Victoriano, aka Ruvik (the main antagonist of TEW 1), who experimented with people's brains in order to create the machine.
In Metal Gear Solid, Chico's real name is Ricardo Valenciano, sharing Ruvik's initials. It's been theorized that Venom is Chico. Venom will become the series' antagonist in Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2.
Ruvik's face is scarred due to a fire, there's a theory that says that Skull Face (TPP's antagonist) is Venom, who gets burned in Metal Gear 2. Ruvik's appearance and Chico's TPP concept art share similarities.
https://i.redd.it/slpto42w0ixd1.gif
Inside Stem, Ruvik seeks revenge and has superpowers, Venom wants revenge on Cypher and is able to slow down time and has unlimited stamina.
Stem's machine prototype, when looked from above, resembles an Odradek from DS.
In one of the The Evil Within's DLC, there's a diary entry, regarding those who connect to Stem, that reads: They all experience the same ocurrences, the same settings, the same ocurrences. The "world" they inhabit becomes larger with every new visitor. This suggests that shards of each user's consciousness are left behind inside the Stem, creating a community. It's as if, internally, a new world is being built.
That would explain why, in games of the ruse, you can see elements from other companies's videogames.
What do y'all think would of happened if Venom got killed during the Sahalenthropus fight? Would Skullface regain control of Psycho Mantis/ Sally since Eli's thirst for revenge would be accomplished. Maybe Skullface survivea instead of dying with the help of Mantis by lifting the debris off of him.
Basically, the retconned Operation Intrude N313 is Ishmael dispatching Solid Snake to assassinate Ahab, who went rogue and was acting out of line with his long-term plans for overthrowing Cipher. But how would we get to that point?
Sometime between 1984 and 1995, after Diamond Dogs relocated to South Africa and became Outer Heaven, Venom Snake would become acquainted with Dr. Drago Pettrovich Madnar, a bionics scientist and robotics engineer who invented the limbs used by both him and Zadornov. By this point, Ahab is no longer in the global spotlight as “Big Boss,” - that’s Ishmael’s job now, who’s reintegrating himself into FOXHOUND with help from Ocelot. Ahab is just lying low until he’s needed to take up the mantle again. Since Ishmael doesn’t have a giant shrapnel horn in his head, Dr. Madnar gets an idea: have Ahab undergo a surgery done by robotic instruments, with the help of prototype nanomachine injections, to finally remove the horn without causing a brain hemorrhage. Venom agrees to this, and the surgery succeeds. He is now truly the spitting image of Big Boss.
However, as mentioned, the nanomachines in Ahab would be prototypes, with side effects not really being well-known. As a result, they begin damaging his psyche, making him unstable.
Ishmael’s original plans were for Outer Heaven to never seem like a threat to the outside world until it was too late for them to do anything about it. He would weaken Cipher’s defenses from the inside, and once weak enough, Ahab would lead an Uprising to destroy Cipher. However, Ahab first breaks protocol by ordering Outer Heaven to rapidly expand out in the open, changing from a secret underground base into a full fortress for all to see. Morale also begins to plummet as Ahab becomes more and more of a tyrannical dictator. It causes Outer Heaven’s chief architect, Kyle Schneider, to go AWOL and found a resistance movement against them.
Things come to a head in the early 90’s. Up to this point, Outer Heaven was allowed to be on their lands in exchange for working a contract for South Africa as their anticommunist deterrent and apartheid enforcer. After Nelson Mandela came to power, the contract was basically made void, but what set everything off was him banning the creation and storage of nuclear weapons anywhere on the nation’s soil. After this announcement was made, Outer Heaven immediately declared independence, becoming the world’s first “mercenary republic.” The timing of it all was highly suspicious to the world. Mandela would demand action from the United Nations Security Council, fearing that OH did this because they had nukes. The UN decides to have the United States send FOXHOUND to investigate.
And the rest is history…
Do you still believe it? (As a little triva, let me remind you, that its star, Oscar Isaac will be the protagonist in 2025 adaptations of Frankenstein and The Divine Comedy). We are almost at the end of 2024, filming has not yet been announced.
It's obvious that something important happening n '25 (OD, DS2, DS movie starts filming), the 9 year coma is over and suddenly SH and MGS are back in the form of new games, but a movie...?
I truly believe Death Stranding is 3 things, which the ruse and our speculation here did help shape / influence.
These were the 3 main theories during the development and marketing. While MGS0 may have not have been true, it was a fun ride between players and developer which gained nearly a million views on youtube alone.
However, that doesn't mean it isn't MGS. Everyone knows about the Orange Box joke with the director's cut mission. But is that all there is?
But, there's also a lot of Silent Hill in the mix, especially with Masahiro Ito doing monster designs for Metal Gear Survive. The hospital concept artwork for TPP also has serious Silent Hill / Jacob's Ladder vibes, and Tretij basically serves as the games Silent Hill Machina, never mind the Rusted Mother Base skin and Zombies / Monsters and Parasite Fog / 204863 Radio.
I think Jamais Vu and Deja Vu are both ways we're supposed to look at all of this.
Raiden fighting SNATCHERS (multiverse scenario) and recreating scenes.
Have you noticed any parallels or references in Death Stranding that reminded you of either MGS or SH?
I've been looking on internet but can't find anything, how does he cross from one circle to another, is he aware of that transition?
V has many meanings. Everyone is free to interpret it in their own way. My takes: V as 5, V as split exclamation mark, V as split personality, V as Hot Coldmans/Winston Churchills sign "V for Victory", V as sign of Peace. V as a nickname for Venom - V Has Come To.
Things like Venom reflecting the Patriots control and manipulation of Raiden. The super soldiers like The Man On Fire, The Skulls etc. Everything from Venom to Quiet to Diamond Dogs and beyond feels like a test of what's to come with Big Boss and his sons and the Patriots AI to beyond. The true wrench in Zero and The Patriots plan is Ocelot who keeps changing allegiances and making everyone guess what his true motives are (I personally think he wasn't interested in fulfilling The Boss' will more that he was trying to prove he could do what everyone else including Snake and BB couldn't do and that was to put an end to The Patriots control). I'm not sure everyone agrees, but I feel like that was the whole point of everything that happened with Venom and Diamond Dogs. What does everyone else think?
I don’t think it was ever in development at all. It wasnt “cut”, moreso its just “missing”. A phantom limb.
There is zero evidence for its existence beyond the title card. And this is after years of schizoposting and datamining, nuclear disarmament, rearmament, and for what?
Nothing. Just like the Diamond Dogs. Venom Snake, Kaz, and the rest are relegated to a footnote of history, with another person entirely taking the blame and name.
Peace was never an option for Venom Snake. This is a man with literal brain parasites itching him to be a killer. This is a man who is infected with the urge to sneak, and play, and fight, and die, and kill. Over and over again as his favorite hero Big Boss, as his own little fiefdom of war profiteering only gets bigger, more mutated, and more out of control.
There is no evidence that anything further than Chapter 2, beyond Episode 51, was ever planned. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that “Peace” is just a phantom. Take what Paz says in her final postgame speech to the player. “Peace Day Never Came, you know what im talking about? You do, dont you. Peace day never came…”
Venom cant let go, and neither can we. Thats why war won’t ever stop. We cant be game over, because it just cant be over. Nobody wants to be the first to let go of their nukes. The only way to win is not to play.
Trauma is a funny thing. At some point, you think something might happen that makes it all make sense, that gives some ultimate meaning or fulfillment as to why you went through the things you did. But much of the time, that just isn’t there. There isnt anything that can undo, or make right, the things that have been done to you. Its a phantom that you can chase for the rest of your life. The only way to win that game, and actually find Peace, is not to play.
Trying to find information about why the website is gone and what hapenned with it. Also, would appreciate If someone could share any architect like websites. It was so good to have them in one screen looping
Reposting this now because folks are chatting about Frank and Ishmael. This lecture series takes a narrative analysis based on symbolic readings, and uses the game's structure to determine what the past scenarios TPP's events are based on, the 1975-1984 missing 8 years. I cover what really happened between MSF and the base on Barranquila, the New York scenario, Rhodesia, and finally the Iraq-Iran war from 80-84 that provided the setting for Jack's stand against Zero, and where Gray Fox and Chico (and George) fit into all that.
