Uranus is a relative older puzzle (2005) by Juno, the master puzzle designer whom designed SDBB, Slammed Car, Mittan etc. There is a secret hiding within this simple looking 6-piece burr, can you work it out?
Hello,
I am relatively new to puzzling (6 months). So far I'm astounded that I didn't get bitten by this bug years ago. I've had some very gratifying successes (Fastmaze 2, Cast Chain, Cast Trinity, Cast Equa, Cast Inifinty, Cast Spiral, Cast Quartet, Cast Vortex (disassembly only so far) and some very frustrating brick walls (Cast Hourglass, Cast Radix, Cast Cyclone). I am extremely interested in exploring the Revomaze puzzles but it appears as though they are no longer produced, and are somewhat difficult to find. If anyone knows any info about their availablity or actually has one they would like to sell, I am very interested. Happy puzzling!!
I'm planning to follow these instructions to make a book safe, but I'd like something a little more positive for a locking mechanism than just magnets.
I'm good at building stuff, but not so much at coming up with mechanisms. I was thinking some kind of sliding pin that's manipulated with a magnet from outside, but the tricky bit is that it can't just move freely or it could be unlocked with gravity.
Any ideas?
Rattlesnake is from the 2023 Karakuri Christmas Puzzle collection by Shou Sugimoto. This is the 7th puzzle of this puzzle series, and it is a great looker with a crazy clever mechanism.
Box of Branch and Loophole is from the 2023 Karakuri Christmas Puzzle collection by Hiroshi Iwahara. This is the fifth puzzle of this puzzle series, and it is a great looker with an unexpected twist in the mechanism.
Hi folks, silly jon here. And BOY have I done a doozy. I only went and bought a Hungarian/Budapest style lock box... That didn't have a bloody lock in it? So I have googled and can't seem to find the right type of lock. The only thing I've come up with so far, is someone in Budapest who makes these boxes, but wants 45USD to cover shipping the the UK (which is a touch out of my price range if I'm honest) So I wondered if any of you lovely lot might be able to help out at all in sourcing a new lock, and the flat key that wedges in the wood of the last picture? https://imgur.com/a/xJMOx1g
Thanks for reading (maybe one day I'll learn to read and won't buy a box that said "no lock")
Silly J.
Does anyone know how many moves it takes? It doesn't say on the puzzle master website, and to be honest it's quite expensive, I want tk buy a puzzle that is difficult and will take me a while. I would love to know the move count. Thanks!
Most suggestions online or on YouTube tend to be Puzzlemaster.ca, but the prices on a lot of stuff is high and no free shipping under $99.
Is there a US based alternative with cheaper prices and shipping or is it the standard?
One minute puzzle, as the name suggests, is a puzzle to be done within a minute suggested by the designer. Sounds like a fun challenge and so I have accepted it, watch the video to see how long it took me in the end!
Hello all,
So I've been messing around with a few Hanayama puzzles for the past month and have managed to solve a few.
I'm curious what other brands are out there that offer a similar collection of puzzles as I'm new to the space. Is there another company that has varying levels of difficulty that you enjoy? I'm not looking to spend more than $20 on each so all suggestions welcome!
I recently bought my first Hayanama puzzle " Cyclone " and I think I somehow forced a piece to get switched around
Initially tried placing the puzzle pieces in a suggested starting position to complete the first crucial move( cyclone piece into the other cyclone piece). That didn't work, but then it somehow did when I randomly frustratingly fiddled around with the puzzle.
I couldn't figure it out after that first move, so then I forced two pieces a certain way and eventually it returned the puzzle to the packaged state. I then tried to he first major move again, numerous times, but there is zero room to get the cyclone pieces facing each other again, and one of the rings seems...off...or turned around.
Has this ever happened to you in a puzzle? Is this possible with Hayanama Cyclone or other Hayanama puzzles?
I'm trying to make a puzzle box, but not the regular one, there is a lot of elements would be implemented, a story and ciphers.
a box with a lot of challenges, players have to buy the box and start deciphering the codes and finding solutions to puzzles, what i struggled with finding inspiration, something that is close to my idea.
can you guys help me?
Spinning Die is from the 2023 Karakuri Christmas Puzzle collection by the leader Akio Kamei. This is the third puzzle of this puzzle series, and it is a great looker! Super pretty with one of the most popular mechanisms.
Hey puzzle lovers! 🧩 I'm thrilled to share with you all the latest additions to our collection from the brilliant mind of Yuu Asaka. If you're not familiar, Asaka is a master of "outside the box" thinking puzzles, hailed for his innovative designs that challenge conventional puzzle-solving approaches. We've just got our hands on two of his newest creations: Echo 4 and Traffic 15.
Echo 4 offers a delightful mid-level challenge, where your task is to fit all 4 pieces perfectly into a frame. Sounds simple, right? But, as always with Asaka's puzzles, there's a twist that elevates the challenge. Rated at a difficulty of 2.5/5, it's designed to push your boundaries just enough to make the solving experience rewarding.
On the other hand, Traffic 15 cranks up the difficulty to a solid 4/5. This puzzle will have you navigating 15 pieces into a designated space, a task that will test your patience, spatial reasoning, and strategic planning. With a target time of 1.5 hours, it's a marathon of a puzzle that promises satisfaction upon completion.
Both puzzles are meticulously crafted from high-quality acrylic, making them as much a tactile joy as a visual one. They come in compact packaging, making them easy to store or display as a testament to your puzzle-solving prowess.
Whether you're a seasoned puzzle veteran or looking for a new type of challenge, Yuu Asaka's latest offerings are sure to provide hours of brain-teasing fun. Plus, they're a great way to train your brain to approach problems from different angles.
Keen to give them a try or add them to your collection? You can check them out here.
What do you think? Are you up for the challenge? Have any of you tackled a Yuu Asaka puzzle before? Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
