How did a co-worker pass his random?

I work at a place that is subject to random drug tests. A guy we will call Bob, has been seen sneaking out to his truck during breaks and coming back to work smelling like weed, laughing and having a deep lung cough. This happens 3-4 times everyday. If you walk past his truck when the door is open, it also smells like weed. Several employees brought this up to management. Btw I don't have a problem with people using whatever off the clock. Anyways Bob got sent out for a random test with less than a hour between being notified and his ua appointment time. He apparently passed as he is still employed weeks later. How is this possible? I understand there are tricks like drinking a solution etc but could this really work in this situation?

How long can edible effects last?

I made another post on this sub earlier but I think I asked the wrong question. Basically my sister and I shared a Delta-9 150mg slushy from a dispensary Saturday night. We both had about 50mg. It started kicking in while we were out to eat about halfway through our meal. My sister had to go out to the car because she was feeling panicky and nauseous and just not right. I was also starting to feel off, yes high but in a different way. We were both very anxious and felt like we weren't in control of our bodies. When I would talk it felt like they were not my words. We were also very dizzy, my sister even threw up a good bit. She's still been throwing up and not feeling right after 48 hours. Is that normal or even possible for it to last that long? How long can the effects last? She said it comes in waves. She'll be fine one minute and then the next it's like the blood drains from her body and she usually has to throw up. She's been drinking plenty of water and eating what she can it just doesn't stay down. She's too afraid to try cbd in case it makes her worse. I had a cbd (thc free) chocolate and smoked a little cbd yesterday and have also been eating more than her. Idk if if that's why I feel better or if it's because I have a higher tolerance. I've had too many edibles (homemade) at once before and felt terrible but not like this. Can delta-9 cause a different/ more intense high than thc? Is it common to feel the effects for this long or should we be concerned that there was something else in it? We called and all they will tell us is it has 150mg delta-9 and it's made in-house, said they can't tell us the ingredients. We're thinking they may have mixed it too strong or something.

Saliva doesnt stick!

What can I say? I, like most of you, enjoy a good joint. I enjoy everything about it: from examining each bud, grinding it down, rolling the joint and of course the smoke. Its almost therapuetic rolling the perfect cone.

BUT!!! There is something seriously wrong with my saliva. Every lick of the glue, regardless of brand; the papers just dont stay glued! Every single paper!!! Every one!! Ik maybe not everyone, but dang near. I'll roll my joint or two and think dang, thats gonna be a nice doobie, pick it up and shhhhhhwwop... the dang paper is unrolling.

Does anyone here have any clues why this is? Does this happen to anyone else? I enjoy rolling, but my fiance laughs with me (it truly is annoying!) and says the saliva situation is terrible, a disaster, and I should be on an AITA thread for continueing to roll doobies that are 99% likely to unravel. LOL

I'm definitely curious if there are any others out there like me and whats wrong with my saliva!!

The past 6 years

I’ve been smoking weed for about six years now and I’ve gleaned the following and hopefully it’ll help some newcomers. I see a lot of questions and concerns on here. This is just IMHO nothing more.

  1. Start your dosage low. There’s no nobility in trying to keep up with a stoner who has the tolerance of a race horse. For edibles I never go over 25 mg. It takes a while to kick in, and if it’s too much, it won’t be that pleasant of a ride.
  2. Smoke with other people. There’s no reason you can’t get high alone, but it makes for a very isolating and almost psychotic experience if you’re new
  3. Set up a YouTube channel with all kinds of great happy videos that make you calm. If you’re feeling any negative effects of the weed turn on the channel.
  4. Be in the right mind set. If you’re Super anxious about something weed actually may not help.
  5. Keep a weed journal. Keep track of when you buy and what works.

Stay medicated. ❤️❤️❤️

Can you overdose on Delta-9 edibles?

So my sister and I had shared a delta-9 infused slushy Saturday night from a dispensary. We both had about a third of the drink (there was about a third left that we didn't drink, thankfully). I have taken edibles before with THC and have even had way too much at once before but I have never felt the way I felt after having this slushy, except for maybe when I took some acid that turned out to be old. I also smoke regularly, I've slowed down in the past few months but I still smoke a little pretty much every day. Anyways, we drank it right before going to eat. We got half way done eating and my sister had to go to the car because she was starting to panic and didn't feel good. At that point I was also starting to feel very off. She threw up a few times and we ended up having to get our parents to come get us. We were 45min-1 hour away from home and there was no chance of either of us driving. We both felt very out of it and like we weren't in control of our bodies. When I would talk it felt like it wasn't my words. My sister could barely even talk or move at all. Today is Monday and I still don't feel great but definitely better. My sister is still feeling panicky and still throwing up. She could barely go to wark today and wouldn't have if her work situation/work friends weren't so caring and understanding. We called the dispensary and they said it had about 150mg in the whole slushy. Is this normal to have effects for this long? We asked if maybe they were mixed too strong as my friend has drank a whole one before and was fine but they said they can't tell us anything besides it being 150mg of D9. Should my sister see a doctor if she's not better tomorrow? Would they even be able to do anything? Is there anything she can do to lessen the effects? I have some cbd chocolates but she's too scared to try anything else. Any advice is very appreciated.

ETA: I know you can't overdose and pass away from weed but I mean overdose as in getting very sick and may need medical attention. My sister is still throwing up after almost 48 hours. Is this normal? Has anyone else ever had this happen? I've "overdosed" on homemade edibles before but it was a different feeling and I was fine the next day. I just don't have much experience/ knowledge on delta-9.

Tales from the Industry Pt. 9 - DUI

I got arrested for possession. I was actually driving. I know how stupid of me.

I was lucky too. It was a statey. This officer happened to also be the trained drug enforcer. With two decades of experience.

The officer was pretty cool about it. We did the sobriety test and I passed with flying colors. He ended up searching my vehicle and found a pipe and weed.

I was handcuffed. They gave the keys to my car to my passenger. And I was loaded into the back of the police car.

As I was loaded in the back, the officer did forget to watch my head, and I banged it against the car frame, be careful if you ever get arrested it does hurt. It was an accident. He felt ashamed.

I noticed that they pulled more than just pipe and weed out of the car.

I was on my way back to college, and I had a final paper, graded, stuffed in between the center consul and the driver seat. That paper?

“Sociological Economic advantages and disadvantages of legal marijuana” or was it my other class final “The effects of marijuana on persons with autism and the varying positive outcomes.”

The officer chuckled when I asked him about it. He said “you don’t miss much do you”

I got loaded back into the cop car to go for the blood test. The officer and his partner were great. Both were Middle East veterans.

They even explained how the blood test was going to work. And what information they found. Which I found very educational. The senior officer, the drug enforcer? Regales me with the blood test they do shows active and inactive THC. And that even when it’s inactive in the bloodstream, there forced to arrest if you’re above the line. Usually active means you’re high.

I was unable to get more information from them prior to the blood test being over. But this has always been an intriguing option on how to figure out a roadside test for intoxication. Kind of like a diabetes blood strip, that’s compostable, that they can toss on the side of the highway so they’re not cataloging our DNA but can tell if we’re high while driving.

I was the taken to the police station down the road

The cops were hilarious! I got chained to a bench after I had a beaming portrait was taken 😁 I watched them go through everything that had been confiscated from my car. Two of them shared of school work and read through it. The other worked on paperwork and the fourth…well…

It just so happened, I had a lot of fireworks in my trunk. Having family in the Midwest, it’s not hard to get. But where I was? I wasn’t supposed to have them despite simply driving through the area.

The one officer goes “wow! My kids will love this stuff!” From across the room, I chuckled and told him have fun or something like that.

In the end, I got charged with a DUI. I had still tested positive from prior use.

I also was charged with possession of a controlled substance

Possession of drug paraphernalia, remember the pipe?

And best of all! I got charged with terrorism. Because fireworks are explosives.

The county was great. The judge was very understanding. I got the middle class boy treatment. It was my first offense after all. Pay us. Take the class. And it’s over.

I ended up paying them $4000 I think. In fines and fees.

My attorney was able to come to a plea deal obviously. And included an expungement since I was not hostile during the counter, paid the fines in full, and completed the class. The arresting officer noted that he read my homework, and I was a “good kid.”

Flash forward. My background check gets pulled as part of getting an apartment. I don’t pass. Come to find out the expungement only covered the DUI, paraphernalia, and terrorism. So my background check came back with a possession charge.

I got a letter from my attorney, saying that he filed for expungement. So we weren’t sure if it was just a clerical error or the county forgot to do that one charge, or the company that did the background check used wrong information.

Interestingly, when the alphabet boys did my MED background check, this was not an issue of concern for them. I even brought my paperwork to the meeting! And those background checks are government level, worse than you have to go through for a bank.

As of today, the state where it happened has expunged those simple possession charges as part of their legalization efforts.

This wouldn’t be the last chance encounter with law-enforcement. But it does show the juxtaposition of an officer trying to do their job, but their hands being tied. They even waited as long as they could driving me all around to the hospital to get the blood test and hopes that it would be long enough. It was not. The arresting officer would still praise me in his report. He listened, I listened. His years of experience showed. And the younger cops got some fireworks out the deal.

Tales from the Industry Pt. 8 - Mortgage

I loved my house. It was a cool craftsman. Solid concrete, Electrical conduit, you can hit the house with a Mac truck and it would survive

It took me a while to get it. I’ve been working from a very young age. Got my workers permit at 14 as soon as I could, and I was always a saver.

I had made some money in the marijuana industry unfortunately had to spend it all on life. Rent and food and everything else.

All I had was my savings of over a decade.

The people who owned my house were planning to sell it. As the renter, I wanted to buy it.

I approached my financial institution about this. I have over 800 credit and am very financially savvy. All they told me at the time was “I didn’t have the income.”

I left the marijuana dispensary and joined a hemp company.

Now the bank would talk to me. I didn’t need a cosigner as long as I had the income for it. But I still wasn’t allowed to use any first time homebuyer programs.

They ultimately decided I still needed a cosigner. They also decided they needed more information.

We had to do a full investigation with my new boss for proof of legitimate income. We also did a thorough check through my previous banking history. I had to prove to them my down payment did not come from marijuana or hemp and instead was savings from the past 10 years. I wasn’t getting help from Mom and Dad, and having a saving since being a teenager was “abnormal.”

Because I was still getting money from hemp, they would only give me a conventional mortgage. I was not allowed to take advantage of any first time homebuyer opportunities. It is “against the law” to do so even with hemp money which supposedly had restrictions lifted in the 2018 farm bill….little did the government know.

One of the people I was living with cosigned and we bought the house. Their income was more “traditional” but have very limited credit history. But the mortgage folks liked it for some reason…

We ended up refinancing the house when rates were very low. We realized at that point what our MLO had done. We found out from our realtor that our MLO and closing company sold us as “partners.” Two men living together are obviously gay, right? And we need to “look progressive”…..

They told us they had relied on regulations post-Great Recession. And blamed it on Fannie Mae. Who held the mortgage for my financial institution.

In my first attempt, I had originally been denied not because my income, but because my money came from a marijuana dispensary. They didn’t believe that my down payment was not illicit money. Thus the investigation prior to the second attempt at getting a mortgage.

They told me Fannie Mae wasn’t gonna allow me to take first time homebuyer right. Because of that I needed a cosigner, not because of my income to debt ratio, despite my impeccable credit.

In the end, this is where it all broke down.

You see, the MLO use my original application, not the second one when I was no longer working at the marijuana dispensary. And the underwriters had an issue. She will say it’s due to transparency, but the reality of it was? They needed a second income that was more “legit”

It was a shit show.

Most people in the marijuana industry can barely get bank accounts. I remember an assistant bank manager coming to me when I would show up with wad of cash as a paycheck. I would show them the stub and tell them my story.

JP Morgan Chase actually came in to set up a trust of sorts so that the marijuana businesses could have bank accounts. But that “trust” didn’t mean the employees would have bank accounts. And that didn’t mean that the businesses that got the accounts were operating correctly.

They ultimately were sued by the government. And rightfully so, the industry supports an illicit market. Quite large one that’s resulting in illegal dispensaries in states where it’s still outlawed and in multiple international countries with varying laws.

Mortgages, insurance, retirement accounts, these are things that employees of the industry don’t have because they are “drug dealers“

Now? Folks are getting through it just like the example above. Regulatory framework doesn’t exist and financial institutions are trying their best to help us out.

The story of my mortgage ends with a lawsuit. Forcing the sale of my home after I was unable to afford it for other reasons. The court sided with me and I was able to sell my house. But it was at great cost to my relationship with the co-signer and my personal finances. I’ll because my income wasn’t “legit.“

What was the worst thing to happen to you while high?

We all have that story of something bad happening to you when you’re high. The worst time for something to happen in my opinion.

If cannabis was banned worldwide, do you believe people would still continue to use it?

The government realizes that cannabis is too great of a medicine and cost them billions because people use cannabis to heal themselves and do not need their modern medicine.(pills, chemo, etc) That’s when they decide to ban cannabis and make it punishable by death. Are you still using cannabis then?

Edible effects won’t stop for day

Feeling edibles effects for days

Hi everyone, I am having a very unusual and uncomfortable situation:

I’ve been using 10mg of THC edibles every night to be able to sleep through my night time depression, for about 6 years now.

I’m not sure if this is related, but a couple months ago, I started using a tincture as well. Meaning, on some nights I take 10mg THC worth of tincture instead of the usual 10mg of edibles. I don’t use this sublingually, I swallow the drops.

-Anyway, last weekend, on the 24th, I took my usual dose of my tincture, but suddenly, the high was way more intense than usual, to the point of discomfort where I couldn’t even fall asleep the whole night.

-Night 2: I thought this was just a fluke, and so that next night, once again, I took another 10mg, but of edibles this time. The same thing happened, but this lasted all the way into the morning, and I only started coming down in the afternoon. (Usually when I wake up in the morning the effects are already gone). I was at least able to sleep during the day when the effects started wearing off a bit.

-Night 3: I started getting suspicious and lowered my edible dose by half. Despite this, I still had the same problems again!

-Night 4: I lowered my edible dose by half again (taking 2.5mg at this point), and still had the same thing!

-Night 5: I had enough and thought I should get off the THC completely and see what happens. I did not take anything, yet still felt that uncomfortable high at around 3 am.

———————————————————————

It is now going to be my 5th day sober, and I’m still feeling this uncomfortable effect in waves. It comes and goes every few hours and lasts for maybe 2-3 hours, even randomly during the day. It is almost impossible to fall asleep anymore, I was catching barely a couple hours of sleep every 2 days, last night however, I was able to fall asleep somehow and actually slept for like 5-7 hours by my guess (based on when I think I fell asleep cause I’m not exactly sure). This is good but it’s still very inconsistent as I am currently up at 4 am feeling another big wave.

I don’t know what to do, I’m thinking about going to the doctor but I have no idea how they would even help me…. Does anyone know what is going on with me? Should I just keep waiting it out? It doesn’t feel like derealization cause I don’t feel like I’m in a dream. Has my body just randomly started rejecting THC and is in the process of flushing it out, and I am feeling really strong residual effects?

Note that recently (last 2-3 weeks or so), I’ve noticed that my usual dose would occasionally wake me up in the middle of the night with this same effect, but at least I was able to fall back asleep. I thought these were also flukes and didn’t think much of it, until it started spilling into the daytime.

The Science Behind Cannabis Watering Techniques: What you need to know

I just wrote an in-depth blog breaking down the science behind dialed-in watering practices. But so that you don’t have to read the whole blog (which you can find here) here are the key points:

  • Quality Over Quantity: Maintain the right volumetric water content (VWC) levels to ensure cannabis plants receive adequate hydration without drowning or experiencing water stress. The optimal VWC varies based on growth stage, environmental conditions, and strain.
  • Back it With Science: Monitor VWC and water to dryback percentages based on scientific principles like allowing the growing medium to partially dry out between waterings to encourage root exploration and prevent issues like root rot.
  • Unique Plant Insights: Follow watering practices tailored to each cannabis growth stage - seedling (gentle misting/bottom watering), vegetative (increased water for rapid growth), and flowering (careful monitoring to prevent mold/bud rot).

The full blog covers critical topics like optimizing volumetric water content, benefits of watering to dryback percentages, and much more. Feel free to give it a read [here.]

Thanks for reading!

Going Cold Turkey - Advice?

Apology ahead of time: I sound like a bitch.

Hi, so, I've been using regularly (every other day/every day) for a few months now, not anything super bad but it's gotten to the point that I have no motivation to do anything and I've been feeling aggressive and weird without it. I decided two days ago that I needed to be more responsible with myself and my habits and I stopped. Yesterday was okayish but towards the evening I started feeling sick and can't really stand up without my head pounding and my sight going a little blurry. Could totally just be dehydrated or something (I've been slacking on my self care) but I'm also wildly paranoid and need some genuine advice.

Should I keep going completely sober or am I somehow going to fuck myself up? Is there anything I can do to make this less hangovery?

Using a mixer to curb psychosis

Hello everyone.

Tl;dr: I had a marijuana induced psychotic episode a few months ago. I’m wondering if budlove or another CBG mixer would help prevent the psychosis, especially if I use only a small amount of weed in the mixture.

The full context: I had a very extreme cannabis-induced psychotic episode back in October. This has been confirmed after weaning off of weed and still getting more minor episodes while tapering but not having any episodes since stopping completely. I’ve been weed-free since December, switched to herbal only vapes and rolls and in general just avoid most substances altogether. I have a strong family history of mental illness despite not currently having a diagnosis myself besides ADHD. I don’t want to risk triggering a more extreme mental health situation by going back to using, but I miss it a lot. I was a chronic user before this and have other issues with substance use in the past, so I’ve taken the attitude that complete abstinence is probably the best approach. I know if I ask my therapist they will say the same. But I just saw an ad for budlove on instagram and now I’m super curious to try it to see if it helps at all mitigate the previous effects I experienced. The psychosis itself felt like a very extreme paranoia reaction with heavy depersonalization, which makes me think if I use enough of the budlove in the ratio it might do the trick.

I mostly just want to be able to indulge occasionally on special occasions, without having to worry. I would not want to go back to being a daily or even weekly user. I guess the only way to know for sure would be to try it, but the idea of that makes me very nervous. I guess I’m mostly wanting to know how much of an anti-anxiety effect the mixer has had for people and what your thoughts in general are on the situation. This is my first time talking about this issue to someone other than my fiancée or my healthcare team, and I’m curious to know the thoughts of other weed-positive folks on the situation.

Thanks in advance for any thoughtful feedback.

ETA: Thank you to those who responded for your thoughts. I figured that was the answer but it gave me a bit of hope and curiosity, so I’m glad I asked. I appreciate you all being considerate and thoughtful in your responses. Be well everyone ❤️

Using with purpose

After being a heavy user during my graduation period, I quitted years ago as it did no longer seem suitable to the development of behaviors that were required for my progress on my career (mainly related to social skills).

This weekend I was going to spend three days alone in a cabin in the woods with the purpose of relaxing and studying for my MBA exam. I decided to give it a try as studying was my favorite thing to do while high. It was a good success, it enhanced my enthusiasm with knowledge and enabled me on seeing from dif povs. It brought fresh ideas to old problems. It was really helpful.

The bad thing is that it gives me pretty bad hangover later. Not that I get nauseous but I feel intellectually drained/empted on the next morning. I worry that these mental imbalances might affect my cognitive performance throughout the week.

I’m trying to figure out a solution that allows me to benefit from its bright sides avoiding the negative sides. Does anyone use it with this same goal in mind? You’d recommend to pick the day wisely or pick the dose wisely? Any other advices? Just say something about the discussed positive and negative effects.

Thank you

Trying to quit Mary Jane

I’ve been trying to quit the MJ for a long time now. Since I’ve gotten with my partner, he’s shown me that he does not like that I smoke at all. Mind you, he supports 4/20 but not right now at our ages. I completely respect that and understand but I’m also feeling so forced to stop at his pace even if it’s been a year of me being on and off. It’s been so hard cold turkey and find myself contacting my dealer all over again even for a small bag. It messes with my energy, my eating habits, etc but I find it so hard to step away. And it’s ruining my relationship. How DF do i quit? I feel ridiculous and weak and find myself in this shameful cycle every week. I fear I might lose my relationship.

Withdrawal solutions?

Left my recreational state for a weekend to a state that isn’t recreational. What’s the best way to handle the withdrawals? I already went through the worse of it last night, but I know I’ll be dealing with this a few more times this year.

Making oil/butter

With normal buds, I will break them up by hand and decarb in a mason jar at 240 for 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool then add jar with oil to a pot of water, getting the water temp to around 180 for a few hours. I recently used shake with the same method and basically see no effects when ingesting. I think I should try a lower temp for shake?

I quit after 17 years, and now my dreams are insane.

I have been a chronic weed smoker for 17 years of my life (36M). I would smoke about 3-4 bowls in a bong, around 4-6 times a day. I quit just over 3 weeks ago, which has been a great decision for me, that I'm holding true to.

Everything has been going great in terms of pushing through the withdrawal, and gaining control of my impulsivity. Everything but my sleep... like many people I didn't really dream that much while I was a pot user. The odd dream would sneak through, but they didn't interrupt my sleep. Now though... it's like I might as well be awake my dreams are so vivid. It's to the point that I feel like I'm not getting any real rest through the night. If I didn't know any better I'd swear my brain is trying to make up for lost time and has put the dream factory into overtime.

I'm curious if anyone that has gone through this has some advice, or an idea of how long I should expect this to continue. I've read that there's a good chance I may be dealing with the after effects of my brain chemistry settling into this for roughly 2 months or so. Which is fine, and I'll continue to push through. I just feel so run down as of late because of it. I just got over being sick, which I partially contribute to how run down I am. Normally I would just have a bunch of naps to make up for any lack of rest I might be facing, but without the use of weed I am having issues napping even. And if I do nap, I still slip into some crazy dreams that kill some of the restful gains I would hope for.

I'll be honest in that I do miss the flower, and hope to enjoy it in a recreational sense at some point in the future. But my goal is to approach it like I do alcohol, and only use it when I'm with friends, or as a once in a while treat. I do not plan to go back to it and use it as a "medicine" like I used to. My goal is to wait several months before indulging recreationally even; just to put some space between my old life, and new life.

Any advice, or thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated!

(EDIT) Thank you to everyone that has contributed to my post. It's been great reading everyone's experiences, advice, and thought out responses. It helps knowing that what I'm dealing with isn't going to last, and gives me some good encouragement to sticking to my plan. I appreciate all of you. Thanks again.

What is delta 9?

Is delta 9 basically regular weed like Reggie that was most commonly used in the early 2000s?
