CPU and GPU temp monitor on panel

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600G GPU: Radeon RX 6600

Used rivatuner on Windows to display CPU, GPU, and all fan speeds on the taskbar and im looking for a similar thing I can use on LM 22.

I know there is an applet for the CPU but can't seem to find one for GPU (or atleast one that supports mine). I also know monitoring fan speeds on LM is a bit tricky and have tried other methods to view mine but had no luck (suspected my COU fan was failing a few weeks back and needed to boot into windows to make sure. Yes, it failed and i ended up replacing that fan)

I can be flexible. I was looking at conky the other day and it is nice but i feel i need to do more research on how to actually use it and as mentioned above i prefer to have it in my panel for easy viewing specially when gaming.

Any inputs will be appreciated!

Very strange problem with QRedShift (Mint 22 "Wilma")

For some reason QRedShift completely obliterated the Cinnamon environment on my machine, restarting didn't solve the problem as it no longer booted and a very strange Ubuntu screen appeared out of nowhere.

I know the problem is QRedShift because several error messages started to appear saying "it was not possible to access QRedShift's child files", something like that

In the first clean install I did all the necessary updates and finally I installed QRedShift again just to be sure and the problem occurred again

so now (after the second clean install) I'm using the system normally without QRedShift, the only problem is that all the other blue light filter options are either very outdated or don't perform acceptably on Cinnamon environment.

I've always used this applet without any problems, I can't guess what I did differently... maybe it was a kernel update or something like that that caused some conflict, I really don't know.

Strange buzzing

I recently upgraded my motherboard to B550-XE (Asus), and installed Linux Mint 22. I am now getting a weird buzzing thru my speakers, whenever I start a game via Steam or Heroic. Audio is mostly fine normally (noticing the buzz cutting in and out today), and was no problem when I was streaming.

System is:
B550-XE
RX580 8gb vid
AMD 2600x Ryzen
32gb ram

Driver manager doesn't show the drivers, just that no update is needed.

I am returning to Linux after years with the other OS due to a conflict or something that caused severe instability.

EDIT: I have completed the "audio_disable_powersave.conf" fix, but the problem hasn't been fixed.

I've got a new 8Tb SSD drive and I'm transferring data before removing the older drives. When I reboot, although it's set to "User Session Defaults" ( mount at system startup), the drive doesn't mount until I actually click on it in file manager. What am I missing?

Linux Mint on Asus Tuf A16 Gaming Laptop

Has anyone tried installing it on an Asus Tuf A16 Gaming Laptop? If so, how is it? Does it work? Are there any additional things I need to install for it to work properly? I'm thinking about laptops like these in the future, especially those with Radeon RX graphics for gaming on Steam.

Almost works on iMac A1225 EMC 2211 (Wilma-Cinnamon)

The one critical hangup I am experiencing comes from coming out of the screensaver. No password needed for re-entry. I get a lot of graphics artifacts and can only move the mouse pointer. I have to force shutdown and cold boot. This will happen eventually after boot up. The longest duration was for about 24 hours.

I experienced something similar to Ubuntu Budgie. The dialog screen to enter the password did not appear, but typing in that password brought me out of the screensaver. The mouse pointer disappeared when hovering over the dialog box that did not appear.

When booting up, I did not see the GRUB screen. It was blank, and I have to wait for more than three minutes for this to appear:

Problems with the integrity check

Hi guys

Today I decided to switch my old laptop to Linux Mint, because with Windows 10 it constantly freezes and doesn't let me work properly, but I just came across a problem

When I did the integrity text on my powershell console I've found that the hash it brings me back is not identical to the hash on the sha256sum.text.

https://preview.redd.it/1zi85m6hq54e1.png?width=1204&format=png&auto=webp&s=f136def465e07e59a0b7a8f27f40751c973d5fb0

I've already downloaded two mirrors of the linux mint 22 vilma edition cinnamon, one from my country Colombia and another one from the World "Cicku" but none of them passed the integrity check.

Does someone knows why this happen? How could I fix this problem with these mirrors?

Do I need to download another mirror?

Is there another way to pass the integrity check on windows?

English isn’t my first language, so I hope I’ve explained my issue clearly.

If you are using an OLED screen, what font settings and subpixel rendering do you use?

I have a 42" LG C2 as my monitor, and prefer to set my text scaling to 1.4 with font sizes set to 11. I don't really see any noticeable difference when adjusting the anti-aliasing or hinting settings. I know these screens have a non-standard pixel layout, so I was curious if anyone else has a similar panel and what settings look best to you.

Also, what are some good, clear fonts to use? Right now I'm using the Inter font package.

External hard drives no longer being recognized

A couple weeks ago, I was editing a video on my laptop (Linux Mint 22) in kdenlive with project files and content stored on an external SSD (NTFS) of mine like I usually do before my system suddenly slowed down and froze completely. I performed a hard reboot and logged back in only to find that my drive was no longer being recognized in any of my USB ports. I brought the drive over to a computer of mine running Windows 10 to see if my drive got corrupted, but I plugged it in and it worked just fine. Since then, I haven't been able to mount not just that SSD but another HDD (NTFS) of mine that used to work just fine on this machine. My HDD whirs and lights up when plugged in, so it's definitely receiving power, and another NTFS thumb drive is mounting just fine, so I feel like it must be some weird relationship between these particular drives and my machine ever since that crash, although I don't know how the HDD got dragged into this.

I've scoured the Linux Mint forums for folks with similar issues, but the solutions I found were either not my issue or simply went nowhere for me. Has anyone out there had this same issue before or perhaps know a fix for it? Thanks a bunch in advance! :+}

How to installing VM properly?

Hey, I am trying to install windows vm on Linux mint cinnamon since dual boot is too annoying and unhandy for my purpose. I made it to install qemu, kvm and also a bridge connection if needed but I don't get it to set it properly in the virtual manager. I am also looking forward to get looking glass. I am using a laptop if this information matters.

Do you Fresh Install in every major Release?

when mint 22 released, did you just upgraded or fresh installed the system?

a fresh install is better for most people imo, it takes around 5 minutes to download the iso, more 5 minutes to transfer it into ventoy, 10 minutes for the installation, and lastly around 30 minutes max for backups.

better than fixing errors that have a small chance to happen, and even if there is no error, it is still usually faster.

No longer able to start steam.

Linux Mint 22 with KDE Plasma.

Have a gaming laptop and suddenly not able to launch steam anymore. Launching it does the usual “logging in” thing, then opens a window, closes it, and repeats until I force stop Steam. I tried uninstalling it and then installed it from the terminal, does the same thing. I am able to launch it through using the terminal or file explorer, but I notice this takes much more memory than just launching steam as normal.

Have no idea why this happened. The last thing that happened was I launched HOI4 to test it out, it broke my computer bad, then restarting it and im not longer able to launch steam normally.

Nemo quirk when selecting words in a filename.

Renaming a file in Nemo has some odd behavior when selecting text.

When double-clicking a word, I expect the entire word to be highlighted.
But after the double-click, if the cursor moves even slightly, only beginning of the word to the cursor's location is selected.

This only happens in "icon" view mode.
Example pic, double-clicked "Werewolf" but only "Were" is highlighted.

This doesn't happen in Pluma or Firefox.
Is this expect behavior for Nemo?
Can it be disabled?

Using Nemo 6.4.0 on Xfce 4.18, Arch Linux.

GNU Screen showing up unexpectedly

I was browsing Firefox normally when all of a sudden it crashes without anything to prompt such. When I try to click Firefox again, the cursor indicated a little clock (or stopwatch?) and didnt respond. I forced a shutdown manually, which was probably a mistake, and now I load up to this GNU screen.

I am extremely unfamiliar with Linux and Mint, this is my computer. Help troubleshooting what’s going on would be greatly appreciated.

My session suddenly turned to a black text screen and repeated attempts to restore snapshots keep saying "Restore Completed With Errors".

My working and open session was dumped into a text screen and when I try to log in, I'm put on the lock screen repeatedly. My snapshots keep saying "Restore Completed With Errors". Could the display manager (I normally use X11) be related to the initial problem?

Tip for old people: Font size!

I recently discovered that you can put the word font into the application search and pull up a font manager which allows you to change the default font size for almost everything in mint.

I'm getting older and blinder every year so this feature is amazing! I wish it was this simple in Windows because I needed this for a long time.

Everyday I find a new reason to be happy that I switched to Linux Mint.
