the lsusb command wont show the usb-c for the nvidia because it doesn't exist. I get the command errors when shutting down or rebooting that show the error of no usb-c found error -113 it posts it three lines and restarts.
I can't turn it off through making the power to the usb port to suspend because there is no way to do it if it doesn't exist.
Does anyone know what config file somewhere I have to edit to comment out the usb-c port on my 2070 super.
Any help is appreciated.
I have done this before but can't find where i found how to do it. AI is useless and so is nVidia.
fuck windows.
so I use this mouse and I want to know if anyone here knows if there's software that's it can use on my distro so basically Ubuntu here's the mouse
Hi, apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I tried to check everywhere (googles search, solved issues here etc.) and couldn't find it.
I'm having an issue with the installer where when it gets to the partition screen and I hit the + button, I'm getting the error below (I typed this out from another screen so apologies for any typos). Nothing comes up in the partition table on boot. Not sure if I'm supposed to see any partitions from the existing windows install but if I am I don't.
We're sorry, the installer crashed. After you close this window, we'll allow you to file a bug report using the integrated bug reporting tool. This will gather information about your system and your installation process. The details will be sent to our bug tracker and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible.

The process I followed was essentially exactly what they recommend on the website for the install:
Download Mint.iso
Do the GPG checks
Etch onto USB with Balena Etcher (have since tried again with Rufus but same result)
Plugged into laptop
Booted into Mint from USB
Open installer and hit next not installing codecs or connecting to the internet
What I've tried so far this and other issues I've found:
Secure Boot = Off
Renamed grubx64.efi to mmx64.efi to be able to get into Mint at all.
Shrunk the underlying Windows 11 installation partition (although I'm happy to install over the top)
I'm seeing some places recommend a SATA setting in BIOS that needs changing but I don't have that option in my BIOS. If it helps at all I'm running a HP Spectre from around 2020.
This is my second time using mint, but the first time was for a computer that is not used often and is highly specialized.
I installed mint on my daily driver pc, and I am having a couple issues. The first issue is that I only have one display, despite having two monitors. xrandr also only recognizes one display device.
The second issue is that my screen is very dim, but the brightness setting is missing. I am using a laptop, but I have removed the battery for safety reasons as the laptop is never undocked.
Since this is my first time *really* using Mint I am totally lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello, i just installed LM 22.1, the issue is: Bluetooth manager is detecting other devices but its not detecting my earbuds. Can anyone help me with that?
Hi,
I recently setup my network printer (Brother) on Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon. Everything went absolutely flawlessly. I'm just wondering: Is it possible to show the icon only when the printer is actually online? I can see a setting where I can select between showing the icon "always", "only when printer is available" or "only while printing" (my own translation). I currently selected "only when available".
Apparently I doesn't matter if the printer is actually online or not. Please help if possible.
Despite being set up as an app that opens at launch it doesn't, how do i fix this ? Is there something i didn't get ? It worked for plank why not for tilda.
Hello. I am using Mint 22 Cinnamon. I am using Cinnamenu and when I open it via click on icon or with super L, I can't click on other app in panel, it's just closes the menu. E.g. I am in some fullscreen app, I press super L, it shows Cinnamenu with panel with apps. And when I click on e.g. Firefox, it closes Cinnamenu and it push me back to fullscreen app. While open, Cinnamenu blocks interaction with panel. Can please someone help me with this?
I want to keep the data on my drives.

Hi all, I use my LM computer for YouTube and Kodi. Last week I updated everything and Kodi has now stopped working. When I delete and reinstall Kodi the settings and add ons persist. How do I totally remove Kodi?
My undestanding of Bottles is that it improves compatibility and reduces conflicts by isolating each Windows app into its own environment. This sounds good, but... doesn't this hugely increase disk usage? Are you really making an extra copy of all the Windows-ish files for every app you "bottle"?
Just trying to figure out the pros/cons here. I've never seen people mention this, so hopefully I'm wrong here.
I couldn't possibly consider what may be the cause due to it working just fine right before I turned my PC off for the night, and the next day it no longer works and only shows this message.
You guys know how to fix this glitch?
A little background about me. I am currently a Web developer and Thinkpad Enthusiast I casually visit the Thinkpad subreddit and I have a few thinkpads in my arsenal (Thinkpad T480, Thinkpad P53, and Thinkpad T14 Gen 1 AMD).
So I decided to install Linux Mint 22.1 on my Thinkpad T480 which is my current backup device and used it for 5 days as a work device. Here are some of the results:
Hello everyone,
I’m facing an overheating issue on my Dell laptop after installing Linux Mint. The laptop runs much hotter compared to Windows, and the fan is running at full speed.
System Specs:
Laptop Model: dell latitude 5580
Processor: Intel i5 7th Gen
RAM: 8GB
Storage: [SSD]
Linux Mint Version: [ 22.1 Cinnamon]
Kernel Version: [6.8.0-52-generic]
What I’ve Tried So Far:
✅ Installed tlp and thermald to optimize power management.
✅ Checked CPU temperature using sensors (via lm-sensors).
Issues I'm Facing:
⚠️ CPU temperatures remain high
⚠️ Fans are running at full speed.
⚠️ Laptop heats up quickly when watching videos or browsing.
Has anyone faced this issue with Dell laptops on Linux Mint? Any suggestions for fixing fan control, reducing CPU temps, or improving power management?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Any tax software that runs on Linux?
I just installed Linux mint 22.1 Cinnamon and it all worked perfekt until the reboot after installation I just saw this. What can I do now? Thanks in advance
how to add a finger print to the mint btw I have the T480
So I have two SSD's where one holds windows OS and one Linux. Before installing Linux mint, I formatted the E drive (Second SSD where Linux is) and installed Linux. Afterwards, I went to windows and tried using the second drive, but it keeps saying directory is corrupted. It shows that the disk is completely free, and I checked the disk manager, and I see that it has created no partition (maybe because it was a clean install). How can I proceed to partition my E drive so that I can use like maybe half of the storage on windows, and still continue to use linux? Do I partition in windows itself or using gparted?
Is there anyway of enabling inertia scrolling on Mint Cinnamon? I've combed through all the libinput drivers with xinput and even switched to synaptics which almost bricked my laptop.
Inertia scrolling causes the window to continue scrolling but slow down as you take your fingers of the touchpad, something that is really nice in Windows and macOS.
