A place for all discussions and sharing of things about the Australian Psychedelic band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
The Values of this sub should line up with the values of the lads, so we won't accept any form of Racism, Homophobia, Transphobia or Sexism. Zero tolerance for any of this, including trying to bait people into arguments, we see this all the time. If you come into this space with this sort of bigotry, it will result in a ban.
Everyone has opinions, and friendly debates are great, but don't be a dickhead. Be kind to your fellow weirdo.
This one is a no brainer, but for clarification, Gizzard related things are fine such as posts about the Murlocs, Leah Senior or Tropical FS. Posts about music recommendations are fine as well at the moment.
Many times when the band makes a post, we get 20 posts made screen-shotting the instagram/twitter post. Please search to see if an update has been posted before you post yours!
Do not post links to leaked/pirated material or posts related to where to find nug streams and/or downloads. This includes “Dm me for the link” comments.
Sharing early access codes for getting tickets is how bots/scalpers get tickets and sell out shows. We know we all want to get those tickets, but please do not post them here.
Phrases like "there is no Planet B" weren't initially coined by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - most printed references aren't related to the band. (user-made content that references a KGATLW lyric is generally acceptable - but something like a cross-posted picture of literal Vegemite is probably not)
**Something like a consolidated tier-posting thread is okay - but if there are dozens of copycat threads it tends to stifle everything else.
(this includes template-based memes, if there's a viral trend resulting in large quantities of similar images)**
**After some discussion, we are banning posts that are AI generated, including art, music and or text.
Some Clarification though, posts about or featuring Gizzard's use of AI are allowed, as Jason has used it before in his art. Posts that happen to have AI art in them, but aren't the main focus of the post are fine.
(So no “I put in this gizzard lyric into an AI art generator, but-).
Discussions about AI art in regards to the band are fine as well.**

Hey all! I'm starting a small indie label and as a test for manufacturing I'm currently giving away some CD copies of the Omaha show from this past tour (enter here!)
Gathering interest - Apart from the giveaway above, how many people be interested in seeing CD bootlegs similar to this for other shows, both this tour and past? Was thinking of doing occasional little online pop-up shops with the label if the interest is high enough, 3 or 4 releases/shows at a time.
Say around $10 total even after shipping once everything's said and done. Want to make them super affordable - I'm not in this for the money, I'm in it for the music.
I feel like CDs are kinda overlooked a lot in the bootleg space. They're easily accessible and IMO would make a great way to get physical copies of some of the best shows. Share your thoughts! Would love to put stuff together.
Did the boys playing melting off FMB at all this tour it’s such a bop
There’s one performance im thinking of and I can’t remember Stu has a perfectly timed burp right at the height of the song before it drops
What’s your favorite vinyl the band has released? Not most obscure or hardest to find, just favorite.
I just got my record player back up and running. Hit the record store this week to get my first Gizz vinyl, I went with “Fishing for Fishies,” the oil spill edition. One of my fav albums by them!
Hello! I work in a little cafe and I’m always looking for cafe-friendly giz to play to keep myself sane while working. The ‘24 acoustic sets and Brisbane ‘21 are my go-tos, but are there other acoustic sets that I could download and put on my Spotify to mix it up?
Thanks!
is anyone aware of just how good some basslines are on a whole lot of gizzard songs.
and no im not talking about obvious choices like nuclear fusion or mars for the rich or the mind fuzz suite,
were talking songs like pop in my step, satan speeds up, anoxia, people vultures. and theres a bunch more
the most simplistic of lines but fark they groove hard
but Flightless and Flight b741 have a connection? you go from not being able to fly.. to eventually fly too much it makes you sick. anyways happy holidays ✌🏼✈️ 😎
I haven't heard anyone else talk about it but I was so freaking happy when he switched to using the digital snare on Garden goblin for the second leg of the tour
I liked TSC enough but I wouldn’t say it’s even in my top 10 favorite Gizz records. Something about the live SF full album run through has had me absolutely mesmerized for the last week to point where, it’s the first LP set I’ve been really tempted to order from this tour (I’ll probably cave if Cleveland gets pressed too TBH)
But yeah, I just can’t believe how incredibly well these songs translate live and how they’re executing them in real time. I’m wondering how much are tracks and how much is actually performed in real time. Either way, a lot of MIDI sync and linked sequencers and arps just flying all over the place. It’s still an impressive feat any way you slice it.
PDA is my favorite Gizz album. I mean I am just disgustingly obsessed with it. With TSC as a companion to PDA, I’ve wanted it to click more for me and I’m glad it finally has. Theia is still not my favorite tune and a beast of a song to get through but from the title track on, it’s such an incredible record. Gilgamesh is the crown jewel for me. An absolutely hypnotic, menacing, irresistible banger.
But yeah. That’s the post. The Silver Cord fucking bangs and it’s such a gift when these albums climb the ranks. I truly feel like the SF show was the dark horse performance of this monumental tour and will only be talked about and celebrated more with age.
What a gift it is to love this band.
Got this beast delivered yesterday finally! Much larger than I thought it was going to be. Love it.
I’m sure this has already been discussed a lot but I wanted to bring it up because I’ve been rewatching a lot of the live streams from both legs of the tour and I can’t get over how good of a singer Joey has become.
He obviously shines on newer tracks like Sad Pilot and Raw Feel, but even looking backwards at songs like Work this Time, Dirt, and Ataraxia, it seems like that new confidence has translated. He’s taking bigger chances, he has WAYYY more attitude, and the music is all the better for it. He might rival amby as a vocalist.
Whatcha think?
I just realized that Cavs switched the drum parts on these songs 😎
Bssb
Here’s why:
-The songs. Lengthy, intricate compositions with great soloing that can extend for up to thirty minutes, as we’ve seen. They have multiple singers, several guitarists, and wide range of musical styles (see the “What’s in my bag?” episode starting KG) that they use in their improvisation and solos. (Dripping tap, head on/pill, etc)
-The fans. The weirdo swarm behaves a lot like deadheads, as it were. Filming whole shows, bootlegged merch, a “lot” scene, dan meetups, etc. There’s websites dedicated to documenting their setlists, as well as on other platforms (see the “How the west was O.N.E” graphic made by a loyal gizzhead not long ago.) As members of the gator gang, we treat each other like close friends and family because of our shared love for the band.
If you read this far, thanks for listening. I’d love to hear what others think.
