Who’s going to be the hero and post the password on here?
I’ve listened to his 4 albums (Innerspeaker, Lonerism, Currents, and The Slow Rush) and recently found out he’s featured in a lot of songs/albums. I listened to some of the Justice songs and I’ve heard a POND song or two, but what would you guys recommend I listen to? I’m interested in hearing more POND songs with TI vibes and maybe some other singles or features that I’ve never heard before.
Okay im gonna try to keep it as short and crisp as possible- I’ve been going back and forth with the idea of opening up a YouTube channel wherein I just talk about things, nothing too crazy or high in production value. I’m not expecting much off of it, but it simply comes from a place of wanting to talk about what I think/ feel, which is something that I struggle with despite trying hard enough when it comes to people I’m close to.
Now as for how it’s relevant to Tame Impala- I was thinking of my first video to perhaps just be me rambling about how Mind Mischief + some Lonerism songs are absolutely just describing what my life is like right now.
Ideally, I’d love for that to open some kind of discourse and have more people join in and perhaps share their thoughts and experiences as well? And I don’t see a better place to put such stuff out other than this subreddit, haha.
I just need some motivation (if y’all think this is a good enough idea) to get over my self doubt and go for it. Honest opinions/ suggestions are always welcome :)
I have gone back and forth with the 4 albums (and EPs) each one being my favorite one at one point depending on the season/year/mood. Same with songs. But after many years of being a diehard fan I can confidently say Patience is my absolute favorite song in Kevin’s catalog.
Gotta say I’m a little biased because I listened to Patience that night in March 2019 and it was my first experience listening to a TI release in real time. I remember not liking it much at first because I was so used to Currents’s soundscape and this was very different. But paying attention to Patience’s lyrics almost brought me to tears right now remembering how much I have changed this past 5-6 years and yet still feeling ‘back to square one’ like he mentions. Plus the production is out of this world. The drums are extremely euphoric, especially on the second half of the song, the bassline is really tight, bongos are sweet and synths as always are dreamy.
I’m still salty it didn’t make it in The Slow Rush! It would’ve fit PERFECTLY both sonically and lyrically. Damn! If it was on TSR it would have probably double the plays on Spotify at least!
Currents tracklist is really good on the begining when you hear 'Let it happen' - 'Nangs' - The Moment' but in the end it sounds confusing. And every time i hear 'taxi's here' it sounds like the end of the whole concept of Currents "there's so much left unclear, but it's time taxi is here'' sounds like the response to whatever he was insecure about in ''let it happen'', the time has come and he has to make a choice in life in the end. i dont know how you guys imagine the "currents journey" or "script" and if you pay attention you can hear a history. The other theory about the music placement is that he didn't know the 'Less I know the better' would become most popular song' when he made it and placed in the end.
I just saw this shirt for sale on Mercari and wasn’t sure if it’s official merchandise or not.
and borderline is top 1 impala
Thanks!
It happens for a noticeable duration, you're unable to move, it only happens once and only happens for you.
I stopped in SLC for a few days and every bar, hotel, and restaurant would play a song, not even just the hits. I went back a month later and the hospital cafe was playing it too. Haven’t had this experience in the East Coast. It was subtle but noticeable and really fun to hear throughout the day!
Anyone else have the same experience here or in a different city ?
I have for sale a copy of the Lips/Impala split vinyl from 2013. DM if interested, thx!!
I just came back from karaoke night and I decided to sing borderline. Im not the best singer my voice be decent but i went in for the vibe. He couldn’t find the song and when he found it, it was single version. I have heard single version before but I’m more used to album version and I was like wtf I’m so out of flow hahaha, but managed to improvise it.
Context: I make "lyric videos" on my free time and publish them under my personal Instagram account, @FanFanReel. Since my friends aren't into tame impala as much as i am, it's probably better i publish some here. I have a google drive folder filled with edits like these, I'll drop the link if u want to see sum more
what up everybody. Does anybody know any free or cheap downloadable drums packs to achieve a drum sound similar to the first two albums?
This song cures my depression.
I can listen to it on repeat for hours.
Love the whole song, but, specifically;
3:50-4:20, and when 4:21 hits, it's like I have no problems. I never want 4:21+ to end.
Edit: I've been listening to Tame for about 15 years and love all the music, but my current mini playlist consists of;
Past Life
Endors Toi
Apocalypse Dreams
Mind Mischief
Music To Walk Home By
She Just Won't Believe Me
Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control
Never heard it elsewhere but Tame Impala Songs, in Let It Happen starts at 4:45 and ends at 5:05, and also all over in Posthumous Forgiveness from beginning until the second part of the song. How does one achieve this effect, what is it called, it's like someone putting the earbuds all up inside my ears and out over and over again, despite how graphic i might have explained how it was, i would love to know the name of this effect and how you can do it, do you need analog devices at all or there is a plugin for this or is this just eq and pan play essentially that you might have to do manually? I'm in love with this effect, please let me know if you know anything big or small about this, thank you!
Personally I love the Midnight Juggernauts remix of Solitude is Bliss
.
me personally, the live version of "let it happen" recorded in thr studio would be super cool cuz the intro is just so good (you can see the intro at some concerts, some don't)
Mine are Runway Houses City Clouds, Nangs and NTHHSFHBAWCC. I mean, I didn't dislike them, just didn't see the beauty of them at first. Now I love them so much.
My girlfriend surprised me with an early Christmas present. Before that, I recently started listening to more new music via vinyls. Monthly I'll try out a new record from the local store, artists/bands I've never listened to. With that being said I still rotate my regs on Spotify, and tame Impala happens to be one of my faves of all time, and lonerism being my favorite album of all time. I still listen to it at least once a month. So anyways, with me listening to vinyls a whole lot more, there is a distinct sound and tone that a vinyl carries. A lot of the new music ive found on the record player, translates pretty well to streaming but I can't forget the first listen on the record player. Alright finally. My girlfriend surprised me with the lonerism vinyl last night. She says that it is one of the OG vinyls, which idk if that has to do anything. But holy f***. I've only ever streamed or CD'd lonerism and this vinyl version has a totally different feeling. I thought I've heard every little sound on that album, but I swear I'm hearing things I've never heard before which is so awesome. People love to compare old tame Impala to psychedelic bands of the 70's but I've never really got that. (Maybe with innerspeaker) But lonerism on vinyl def gives me (I hate to say it) a beatleesque vibe. Such an awesome surprise and just want to vent hahahaha.
it's been 5 years since slow rush where the hell is the next one bruh😭🙏
