A tale as old as time 😔
Check out my new songwriting podcast, Student of the Song. I’m so excited to have finally launched this show!
In this series, I uncover the secrets to creating great songs by leading captivating interviews and discussions with music experts. I love folk music, so this show mainly focuses on this genre.
My goal is to educate, inspire, and platform other independent musicians, while learning more about songwriting myself.
I’d really appreciate your support on this new project, and would welcome feedback on how I can improve future episodes of the podcast.
It’s available on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
Please like and subscribe for updates about new episodes, if you enjoy this one.

Introducing Stream Of Information
Three years ago, I started composing and performing what would make my collection of 5 EPs as they stand today (fifth one being ‘Stream of Information’). I like to call these a ‘sonic diary of my life’.
For Stream of Information, I introspected upon the origin story of all the pages of my sonic diary and came up with the overarching theme of streams. Recorded music begins as vibrations and analog data, gets captured and translated into digital data, and then again streamed in an analog form for us to listen to.
These thoughts culminated into 5 acoustic tunes named after natural phenomena, and also including natural sounds. In this EP, I have tried to go back to the roots (my fascination for the sonic process, and my love for nature), and simultaneously break notions by releasing acoustic music after a string of electronic EPs.
I visually imagine this track starting with a sunray making its way through deciduous trees next to a water stream. This translates into sound as a verse with fingerstyle arrangement and extended chords.
The chorus, however, transports you to a desert wasteland. Air with no salt and no moisture, parched land, and a feeling of despair all around.
The click of a tape recorder launches this track into sounds of ephemeral streams filling up during the rains. The smooth and innocent tune is driven by a bossa-nova rhythm with some swag and punctuated by tape-derived effects. The end of this nostalgic, rainy tune is also marked by a tape recorder click.
This track, dedicated to whales and whale conservation efforts around the world, is named after a dark and intriguing natural phenomenon, whale fall. When a whale dies and only its carcass remains, it falls to the ocean floor. This carcass can nourish several underwater creatures for months to years. Unfortunately, whale falls are also engineered by humans to study them.
The initial part of the track signifies a distant ocean about to witness another death on its surface, and transitions into the dark depths of salty water where death breeds life. I have used the sound of bubbles to indicate the harmony that exists before a whale is sunk to its death by nature or by us humans.
This airy track has melodies hanging, swinging and falling from branches; with the diffused light of strumming enveloping everything around. This serene picture soon transitions into a thunderstorm and concludes with the last round of the tune.
Who doesn’t like a happy ending? I, for one, love finding real and unreal silver linings. The silver lining at the end of the dramatic journey that is ‘Stream of Information’ is this final track.
The arpeggiated tones in this track came to me when I pictured a step-like terrain leading to the horizon. This terrain, almost like a dream today, has overflowing canals flowing into streams, creeks, tributaries that go around spreading life and harmony to all organisms who sing, dance, move, live, and thrive in its ecosystem.
Sit back, press play, close your eyes, and take a deep breath. You’re about to begin an artistic experience of which nature is the muse

Designing the cover for 'Stream of Information' involved transforming ideas into visuals.
It began by using binary code to symbolize digital data in streaming music. The arrangement of 1s and 0s in an organic flow portrayed the data's movement. Passing through the human ear, this data transitions into music.
This change was illustrated by the shift to structured lines resembling a sound wave, encapsulating the album's narrative.

Just released a video for a song off my new record, let me know what you think.
Hey y'all, I'm an aspiring musician (singer/songwriter) and I just uploaded two of my tracks to youtube, as well as previously having uploaded them to SoundCloud and I'm really hoping that I can gain some traction on them. I made them based on characters I've used in DnD campaigns to help me get out of a really long stretch of writer's block, and I would really appreciate any feedback you guys can give, or even if you just give them a listen! I hope you guys all have a wonderful day, and I look forward to hearing back hopefully!
