A place to discover new folk.
A place to discover new folk. Post any kind of folk that is new or obscure enough that you don't think we've heard it yet.
Rules:
1 . Try not to repost please! But new or better quality versions or even covers of beloved songs are always welcome.
2 . Folk is a pretty loose term, while even I do not like all styles I don't think we should discriminate.
3 . 25k views is kinda a lot in terms of views or listens for most unknown folk songs. Find the version with the most hits to make the call (live or covers count as different songs unless it's pretty much the same). New songs or songs which have not yet been posted to reddit are also super welcome. Use your judgement.
4 . Please include the artist, song name, year, and short recording description in your title. Examples:
Goodnight Texas - Jesse Got Trapped in a Coal Mine (2012, Live session video)
P.M. Buys - Funeral Psalms (2014, Bandcamp album)
Kendl Winter - Rosie (2014, Live session recording)
Mandolin Orange - 45 min intimate concert (2010)
Feel free to add any other short description if you want.
5 . Include any other relevant links about the artist or song in the comments. (these don't necessarily have to be unknown or new)
6 . Please do not self post more than once and flair all OC as such. But please post other great music from friends or anyone you know about.
7 . Upvote any great songs that this place brings you, it encourages people to post again. And contribute if you hear of anything!
