So Winters around the corner and I'm trying to see if I can get a few more rides in before the first snow fall. We've been blessed in Toronto with an Indian summer these past months, so temps were above average. When do you guys call it quits?
I've seen people swap 650 engines into 500s, but is there any reason to not just build a CX650 from the ground up?
Picked up these 2 beautiful ladies off of a kid who couldn't get them running right. Red Yamaha is up and running beautifully and will slowly turn that into a Cafe Racer.. Suzuki has been sitting for 5 months got it to run and turn over.. cleaning the carbs on it now and slowly turn that into a Scrambler
Update on this build. The Jialing NP50-GL is an oddball Honda SS50K1 clone, but it has been hit-or-miss regarding parts commonality. If anyone knows where I can find brake shoes that fit, I'd appreciate it.
Everything fit up fine, but the Ebay center stand needed a little "convincing" with a skunk wheel to go over center. I need to tweak the fairing angle. Trail Buddy 125cc Lifan with electric start shoehorned in nicely.
Hey all, I coated my gas tank in red kote, followed all directions and let it cure for longer than it said it needed. Left some non ethanol in it for a few weeks and it made the bike run like crap and smoked like crazy. If I just drain it and refill with fresh fuel will it be okay and it should definitely be even more cured now or what? Thanks!
Hey everyone! Just picked up a 93 BMW K1100 and am starting in on the cafe conversion. I’m stuck at the moment due to not having facilities available to cut and weld in a frame loop and seat bracket. Anyone out there that would be willing to help me out or know of a shop that can? Happy to pay for services and materials, of course. Worth noting I’m a very very amateur welder due to the lack of facilities, so I’ll need some help on that front too. TIA!!
Can any of the smart folks on here ID where the front end on this bike is from? Thanks in advance!
My old BMW that I've had for 6 years. Has had a few engine mods as well. Not the most comfortable bike though.
My bike (2023 Honda SCL500) is a modern take of “scrambler” with some retro styling. While I know this bike will never be a “true” cafe racer, I do want to apply a more aggressive riding position to it as this bike will never see off-road use.
I purchased a set of woodcraft clip on bars with 2” rise and a relocation kit for the gauge/speedo. This will significantly drop the profile of the front control area. My next hurdle is rearsets, or “more rearward” foot controls.
If you were in my shoes, how would you go about moving the foot controls rearward? No company makes a bracket. The brake side is a complete unit with the master cylinder enclosed. The gear shift is also a single pivot unit and like all other bikes would be moved easily with an extended threaded rod to shift lever. Without the use (or knowledge) of 3D modeling or CNC experience/tooling, what would be my best option going forward?
I'm new to bikes have built vehicles before but not bikes but would love a cafe racer style I'm looking at an early 80s honda cb750, I want to do a monoshock conversation to get that more modern sporty look with the rear lifted up a little more, what would be the easiest way to achieve this?
Best way to start the day. Out of coffee at home but this'll do
Honda cb350
I want to get a cafe racer one day but don’t know where to start. I keep hearing about finding a Honda cb750 would be a good starter bike but idk. What are some tips for someone wanting to ride for the first time?
