What are, in your opinion, the most beautiful Armenian words?

I am looking for Armenian names that are rare, interesting, or different. For example, names like Lendrush or Marzpet.
If you know any funny or uncommon names, drop them in the comments. Let’s build the ultimate list of Armenian name gems!
I was reading the 2009 Eastern Armenian grammar, and in the personal pronouns section it didn't mention anything about animateness in pronouns, but Wiktionary specifically translates նա as he/she, while Google Translate seems to avoid using personal pronouns for inanimates, instead preferring demonstratives such as այն․
So is there some kind of animateness distinction in pronouns in Armenian or not?
Also shouldn't demonstrative determiners such as այն not be used independently, but only before some other nominal? Is "Այն այստեղ է:" grammatical?
Finally does any of this work differently in Western Armenian?
Hello! I am currently studying Eastern Armenian by myself and I intend to enroll in an AVC class next term too, but, although for the moment I’m focusing on Eastern Armenian, I would like to learn sometime both modern Western Armenian and Classical Armenian as well.
Given my main interests and studies, even while I am studying Eastern Armenian, I would also like to start studying Classical Armenian more seriously soon to have direct experience with its sources, but I don’t know very much about what books and resources are available and are recommended to start learning the language.
For now, for Classical Armenian, I have been using an online course I found from UTexas, but, if you know of any good books and resources, I would like to ask for other recommendations as well. Recommendations for Western Armenian are also very welcome, since I plan to learn it sometime, as well as recs for Eastern Armenian, which I have been more focused on studying.
Hello everyone
the question is in the title, i managed to learn english and a bit of russian by myself from internet, now i'd like to learn armenian, can you recommend me some of the best sources that are free or inexpensive to study/practice it properly? do you think it's actually a reachable goal or it's way too hard and i'll struggle?
Any advice could help me!
Hello! I’m (20M) looking for a Western Armenian speaker in the sub to chat with! I’m good at listening and comprehending what is being said, but I need to practice SPEAKING more. Message me if you’re interested!
Me and my girlfriend are both diaspora Armenians and lately we’ve been trying to step up our Armenian speaking skills. Today she suggested that we should start using Armenian dirty talk during s** but I am not exactly sure how that’s supposed to sound like, so we need a bit of help. Preferably Western Armenian please!
Barev dzez! My name is Jake, and I've written some things down in Armenian from the very little I know. If you'd like to please give some feedback on my handwriting and Grammar, I've been trying to improve. Mersi

How do you sing it? I realized l've heard/used the 3 versions below (all to the same melody as "happy birthday to you" in English) which do you use? Curious to see if there are even other versions or a most commonly used one.

How, if at all, would you say and/or write “Dodgers”(LA Baseball team) in Armenian? A friend and I were chatting and couldn’t figure out any way to make it make sense haha խուսափողներ / khusap’voghner is the literal translation
For context, the LA Dodgers were named from their Brooklyn days when fans going to baseball games would “dodge” trolley cars while crossing the tracks. So it kinda makes sense in Armenian right?? 😂
We figured teams like “Angels” works as հրեշտակներ or hreshdakner and “Kings” makes sense as tagavorner since these are actual words lol
Բարև բոլորին! I’ve been working on this app for the last few months and would love to get people’s thoughts on it. It’s called issen, which is a personal, conversational AI language tutor for intermediate / advanced learners. It remembers who you are and naturally adapts the chats and lessons to your particular learning style and goals.
The idea came from my experience trying to learn French. I’ve spent years at it going through many online tutors. I like the experience of a dedicated teacher a lot, but on top of being expensive and often a bit awkward, I move around a lot, so an in-person teacher is extremely hard for me to manage. I tried a bunch of language learning apps (Babbel, Duolingo, Rosetta Stone, etc.), but none of them really compared to having an actual teacher.
The idea for issen is for it to be that actual conversational teacher, accessible directly from your phone at any time.
You can check out the app at issen.com. Please do let me know what you think, if you have any questions or feedback, or want to talk about language learning in general!
Hey everyone. I've created a new Discord channel for anyone interested in learning Armenian. It's empty for now, but I'll populate it with channels as more people come. It can be used for practicing with each other or with native speakers, asking language related questions, etc. I'll try to be active there for now. Don't know what will happen later though. Will see how it goes.
Feel free to join!
Ձոր and Վանք in Armenian Language meaning
Բարև everyone!
Does anyone know if there's a new edition of Dora Sahakyan's Eastern Armenian that doesn't use that outdated and overly ornate font (I believe its name is Hianali)?
It really hinders my reading, especially as some specific letters really look other letters to me, for example շ really looks like չ:
Also, sometimes ր looks like an ը (especially when it appears as last letter, where it could be an article) and ռ looks like a somewhat badly printed ու:
Even my wife (Երևանից) claims some letters are confusing to her, especially if she's reading from a phone...
I was listening to the PBD Podcast (Patrick Bet-David). (He's half Armenian and half Assyrian) and he mentioned about a "Garshoak" to one of the podcast members. What does he mean?
Born in the US but have been speaking Western Armenian with my family since birth. I'm sure it's a bit broken up with words from other languages mixed in. I've been trying to confirm that there is no explicit her or him in Armenian.
To my understanding the closest words / terms are:
Aniga = that person
Marta = the man
Geena = the woman
Is this right?
Anyone know the Armenian words for Halloween related terms such as:
Plus any others you’d like to mention!
ETA: I’m in the diaspora where Halloween is celebrated and therefore want to have the terminology to speak about related concepts in Armenian too, thanks!
Please could someone explain the meaning of this phrase. It seems to be a լոռվա բառբար thing but I just don’t really get any of the explanations I’ve read.
Բարեվ բոլորին,
I need help with a grammar point. I would like to understand the difference between քանի and ինչքան. I read that քանի means 'how many' and ինչքան means 'how much', but I don't know if that's all there is to it, or if that's good explanation.
I'd appreciate it if you could share with me some example sentences too.
Շնորհակալ եմ։
I've looked for this song's lyrics a lot, however didn't find the lyrics anywhere " toghèk yes gnam " Thanks in asvace
We're living in the diaspora (not Glendale) and recently added +1 Armenians to the world and this kid, along with any others we may have, are going to be raised Armenian.
We're looking for specifics of how kids are raised Armenian. Any recommendations, whether they be books, apps, educational toys, or cultural traditions like specific songs or games that we can in America?
We're not the best at speaking Armenian to each other at home because we were born here and speak English all day to everyone else in our lives. Plus, one of us is Eastern Armenian speaking and one is Western so that's just another hurdle that makes speaking English easier. We're working on this but we have no family nearby either to lean onto the grandparents.
We only speak Armenian with the baby but all the toys we buy that sing and dance and teach kids language is all in English. We've looked for an Armenian nanny but there are none nearby so we're going to put the kid into an English speaking daycare. We don't know any Armenian lullabies to rock the kid to sleep with>!so we sing Mer Hayrenik to him every night to put him to sleep.!<We play Armenian music every day but with all of this we need more tools especially to teach the kid the alphabet. Neither of us are any kind of educators so we're a little unsure of how to mold this kid around being Armenian.
Main question I guess after writing all that^ is how do you teach your kids Armenian in a household of 1 Eastern Armenian speaker and 1 Western Armenian speaker with no other real support around?
Hello to the wonderful Armenian people! 🇦🇲
Here I have attempted to write the Armenian names of a few countries in Armenian to practice writing the Armenian Alphabet.
Please provide your feedback on my writing and how I could better it.
Thanks 😊
