Hello everyone,
Me & my partner are going to Armenia in June for 6 days.
Here is the ietinary we planned:
Yerevan
Day tour to Garni & Gehard (and possibly Khor virap).
Lake Sevan and Dilijan (either with day trip or driving and spending the night)
Areni, and Noravank (either with day trip or driving and spending the night)
Tatev ((either with day trip or driving and spending the night)
Yerevan
My 2 questions are:
We feel the day tours can make life easier where we enjoy the trip without the hassle of driving and checking in & out of hotels every night. But we are also afraid that this makes us miss some experiences.
I appreciate any advice or suggestions!
Thank you!
I am Armenian born and raised in another country and the only Armenian I understand well is the Gyumri dialect. I’ve loved reading books since I was a child and now I’m trying to read some in Armenian for the first time but I don’t find any in my dialect.
I visited Armenia for three years in a row, 2022, 2023, and 2024, I can say this is one of the most wonderful countries I've every visited, and every time I come, I get a different experience, the last one I met Avaryar and Exileth Metal Bands and I was so happy for their attitude to me, they even invited me to the jamming sessions and a gig that happened at Stop Club, However, the Armenian Government issued a decree that makes the evisa for Egyptians more difficult, I really have no idea what Egyptians did there, but for me, I am well known to a lot of people in Yerevan, Dilijan, Gyumri, and Lori, even I started to use my telegram more often than any application.
Is there a way to know what Egyptian committed there and why we became unwanted although there are a lot of connections between Egypt and Armenia, Historically and Intellectually as well
I am planning a staycation to Armenia during last Week of February 2024 , is there a hotel or resort where i can stay and enjoy snow and winter activities from same place? Preferably hotels in ski resort or mountains?
I want to become a screenwriter/director. I was born in Armenia and have always lived here, so it seems that my goal is unachievable here. Modern Armenian films consists of cheap “comedies” that are not made to tell a good story, to show someone’s artistic abilities or their vision, but just to earn money. The only good modern Armenian movie in my opinion is “Կյանք ու կռիվ”, which inspired other “directors” to start making movies about war, that are mostly bad. It is funny that the sequel of “Կյանք ու կռիվ” was made into another cheap comedy, that overshadows the main theme of the movie. So I was just wondering, if there are at least some volunteering work in a film production, that I could participate in. Even if they are indie,(which I think is even better) I would be glad to join their team.
For example: այբ (Ա ա), բեն (Բ բ), գիմ (Գ գ)...
Thanks
Why do we Iranian armenians call vartevar vartivor like the hamshentsi?
Was this the dialectical norm for central and eastern armenian dialects prior to the 1600s or did most armenians in general call it vartevar except for the hamshens?
Hi everyone, my girlfriend is Armenian and we are discussing financials - hot topic.
She says that in Armenia the husband covers rent, bills, grocery and all family expenses. Even in case the wife has a job the husband will pay everything and the wife will keep her salary for her and will sometimes buy gifts for him.
I've been labeled as a miser because of my attempt to convince her to share family expenses, proportionally to our salaries.
Is this really the norm in Armenia? Even in Yerevan?

Hi guys from Portugal! I didnt care about armenia until a few months ago when I started to become more and more christian, I always liked history so I started searching more about armenia and how armenia was the first country to adopt christianity. I looked at the history and it was amazing, the glory armenia had is soo cool! Now I absolutely love armenia and how u survived the ottomans, turkey and azerbaijan.
I’m in Yerevan right now, but I lost my bank card (swallowed by ATM). So, I have no way to pay for bus rides by card, which is the easiest way. Is there any way to pay for bus (&metro) with cash? Are there ticket sales points that accept cash? I heard something about the driver accepting cash, but only 100 dram coins. And I can’t seem to get a hold of many 100 drams.
Thanks
Edit: Just got like 10 100 dram coins after writing this, so ignore that part.
This pic is taken at Saryan street near Tapastan(wine place). I heard that there are some other walls carrying the same painting. What's all that about? I heard it has some kind of meaning.
