As you can see below, there is problem with vowel accents in Hindi. The text is seen properly when in text editor. But not seen properly on the image or in layer names.
Any solutions?
I'm currently working on a deck of cards for a boardgame. My printer informs me that the cards must not contain 100% black in zones where there may be transparency – I'm not entirely certain at which stage of the toolchain such things may cause issues, but I'd rather avoid the risk, by removing 100% black from my raster images.
So... is there a good way to search for full black (i.e. any color that is (<5%, 0%, 0%, 100%) CMYK) and replace it with almost black ((5%, 0%, 0%, 100%) CMYK)? For bonus point, is there a good way to do this automatically for the ~200 images I'm using in this boardgame?
So, I'm trying to make my own LUT for a video game I'm playing. I've revamped the graphics with mods but the improved graphics come with a built-in LUT that is not favorable. So, I'm trying to match the before and after screenshots so I could apply that same processing to the LUT.bmp. Here is the target color scheme I'm trying to replicate. I like the overly blue look. Now, here is the target image that I'd like to adjust. It's too red/orange.
I tried using "CLUT from after/before layers" with the G'MIC Gimp plugin to apply the color scheme of image one to image two. Here is the result. As you can see, the white-ish highlights and details of the target image have been lost. Overall, it's pretty close, but those highlights and details are important.
Can anyone help me come up with a better method here? Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks.
Is there a way I can distort an image so that areas are magnified proportionally to how close they are to a given point? I have a map and I need to edit it so that Europe is the largest area, while showing the rest of the world distorted around it proportional to its distance from Europe.
Hello everyone,
So i have my image there and i want to make it smaller.
I used the Scale Image option as found on google, but after transformation, the result is as follows:
Smaller but pixelated image, which is problematic because i planned on putting it on another image with lots of details, and this is not gonna cut it.
Can somebody tell me if i'm doing something wrong? Do i have to use another tool to get what i want?
Thanks in advance.
So im super new to gimp! im trying to remove the background of a picture i made but it doesn't work like the videos say even after adding an alpha channel and its driving me nuts when i restart fully and copy the videos for the same problem to happen. im sure its prob something simple im missing but id love any help.
I'm working on a project where I want to get a specific shade of red. I'm not sure if it's possible, but it'd save me a lot of work if it's possible.
I was wondering how I could create an outline/bubble of a png, for a sticker.
Here's what I want it to look like. Basically a bubble around the whole phrase.
Here's the image I want to use.
I know how to put an outline on a PNG without whitespace in the middle, like this, but I'm not too sure about my image, which is a bunch of different parts.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

==========
Since yesterday, a problem has suddenly occurred where non-English input is not possible on the ibus input device.
I've searched through various documents and tried the solutions suggested, but I haven't been able to solve it yet,
so I'm asking this question to see if anyone has had a similar experience and to get some hints on how to solve the problem.
[My system environment]

OS: linux mint 21.3 cinnamon
kerner: 6.50-28
GPU driver: NVIDIA 550.67

[Problem phenomenon]
Since yesterday, non-English keyboard input on the ibus input device suddenly does not work only on flatkpak Gimp. [In my case, Korean]
There are no problems at all in all apps and environments (that I use) except Gimp.

Hello!
I have been tasked with preparing large groups of scanned correspondence from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries for upload to a transcription platform. Many are severely faded or cloudy due to outdated archival processing methods. (Examples 1 and 2) Because we are trying to encourage people to transcribe, I really want to increase legibility. Most of the scans are scanned at high quality (600/1200 dpi, TIFFs), although not all. I do have a lot of resolution to work with but eventually have to reduce them significantly before upload.
I have had moderate success with fiddling around with the levels/threshold, contrast, and sharpen filter. (Original 1 and Edited 1) Additionally, I have had success with duplicating the base layer, pulling as much text as possible, desaturating, and running Color to Alpha in order to create an "overlay" of text. However, as many of the letters have dark ink spots or bleed through, I often spend a significant amount of time masking these blemishes out. This is not sustainable in the long term due to the amount of images I'm expected to process. And I am worried it might have an opposite effect on legibility if the overlay layer is too busy (which is my fear for the Edited 1 image).
I am entirely self-taught, so I'm not sure if there are alternative methods I'm missing. Any suggestions? Thank you for any help!

after control + mousewheel zooming, the rectangle tool's mode gets stuck on the subtract from selection, and I have to again click on my preferred replace mode. I think this only happens if I zoom after a selection has been made. But I expect the mode to go back to replace after i finish zooming, yet it now stays on subtract. I have resaved tool options the way I want it but after selecting and zooming, the mode stays on subtract again. Is there an option I missed somewhere? or a keypress for replace selection?
I hope so... My old 2012 iMac is dying, high time I move on. But I like working with open source apps... Can I still work with GIMP, InkScape, Scribus and so on...? :(
I sell lots of color coded products.
If the items are not aligned with each other it looks stupid.
If the items are aligned perfectly as I flip through them it looks like the item didn’t move and it only changed it’s color. How do i align the layers?
Is there anyway of blending a colour with an image?
So for example I know how to use a gradient so it blends from 2 colours but is there anyway of choosing one colour and in the other box using an image?
Im designing a car on iRacing and want it to blend from bright pink at the front to a custom black image i found on the web
Thanks in advance
Well at the moment i think about the idea of creating a image that looks alike this attached one. i have a image (some people) and i love to create a second layer that "plays" with the colors - like the example. How to approach - how to get started here: Is this second layer created with some special GIMP Effects like a blurr-effect or something like that!?
Can you give me a starting point here - how to get started here!?
look forward to hear from you
regards
I'm having a weird issue with my alpha layers overwriting pixels on other layers. When I toggle the alpha channel, I can see the pixels not blending/overwriting correctly. I took screenshots of my problem, hopefully they explain it better.

For the community.
Hi, all. I have been playing around with sharpen filters for a while and am just not getting anywhere. Anyone have a quick workflow for making this text more readable? Either a filter or series of filters or some kind of OCR replacement type deal I don't know about? I've been using GIMP for simple stuff for over a decade but I'm more of a vector person... Thanks in advance.
When I create a shape with the free select tool, when I go to fill it with the bucket, no color shows up. Does anyone know how to do this?
Hello beautiful community,
Imagine you want to make a photomontage in order to show people how beautiful a bunch of solar-panels would look on their balconies (of a Corbusier-style biiiig apartment-block, Ghetto-Love 😍 so to say). How would you do that? Is Gimp the right tool for it? or is it a horrible idea, because inseting hundreds of solar panels (up to 1000) is better done in another way? (copy-and-paste jungle in Gimp, better another program?).
I know how to cut out. I know how the transformation tool works, at least a 10%. The solar panels are dark bi-facial split solar panels, which will not be applied vertically, but horizontally with a 30% degree to the sky, in order to get more sun.
Unfortunately, most of the software I found online is made for roofs, car ports, or other more or less uniform/unicolor areas. Whereas, in my case it's just a picture and I'm talking about a high number of balconies, all over the place, several sizes, etc., and a very curved building (70es arch). 😪
This is the building I am talking about and we want to apply all solar panels in wide format, so that a part of the balcony will stick out on the bottom, as well as on the top of the solar panel, so that the inhabitants can still look downwards.
What is best way to copy and paste/insert a huuuge nr. of solar panels without getting crazy with layer-copies? 😁
We are an NGO and we want to try to make it in DIY, as it's just a concept and not something official with all the yadda-yadda. I could not easily find tutorials for objects in GIMP, just as usual photography 🙄

Hey- new here, i basically joined this community just to ask one question: i am astonished by the fact that gimp doesnt have the option inbuilt to make the grid isometric. Like i have encountered sooo many situations by now that it would have helped more than a ton- is there any addon that i could install that recreates this? And if not, any techniques to get around that?
So I have this car template for Gimp. How would I be able to edit the “Bowman” part of the car and change it to “Bock”???
So THIS is how I see the pic as I work on it, the picture already has an alpha channel. I also tried to use Color to Alpha but simply doesn't work. This is the final exporting settings. I tried to Check / Uncheck "Save Background color" and "Save color values from transparent pixels" but any combination lead me to the same final Result. You may say "try a different photo viewer". Well, I did. This is also how I see the picture in the software I'm using which also supports transparency and is NOT the issue with this. Also I'm using RGB mode. I'm going insane, it's such a big waste of time to figure this out
