I am sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find it.
Every time I try to cut something out (removing the background of an image for example) the border of whatever I cut becomes an awful pixilated mess. What is the proper method for this / how do I cut cleanly?
Rookie here, I need to provide this image to an embroidery shop for a patch. The patch needs to be in the shape of the outline, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. Any help?
I'm new to GIMP and at a loss so hoping for some advise please.
I just want to print an image (print size set to 7x5in) onto the top half of A4 photo paper so I can use the bottom half for another 7x5 print. Just to save the cost and waste really.
I can't seem to make any setting work. Prints in the centre every time.
Is it possible? Any help gratefully accepted.
Recently my girlfriend has been working on editing an MMD model. She wanted to give a model a full body so she could put it into cute outfits.
However something that is bothering her is that, she can't get the texture file of the body to match with the face's texture.
She has used the palette map function, but every result she gets is washed out and more gray than actually matching the face's texture colors.
She uses base GiMP 2.10, I know it's old but that is the one that works on her computer reliably, is there any function that she could use to get the skin of the body texture to match with the face texture's skin tone.
I would post examples, but since she is using a full body model, it has an unwrapped fully nude female body, and I don't know this subs rules on NSFW material.
Has anyone used G'MIC-QT to curve an image onto a mug?
So I want to make this circle border thinner in terms of the elements being not so thick. I’m thinking maybe 50 percent thinner. If it could be made into a wreath-like border that would be great so I could manipulate it better. How would I do this? I want the white space in the middle to be bigger while the outer circle stays the same. Thanks!
When using the gradient tool, the closest option is cone asymmetric. I need the gradient to go between two angles, shown here:
The shaded in section of the outer ring is the part that needs this, though so do all the others. I am trying to get the color of the top, and the color of the top left (the colors stated are the same as the corresponding ones in the middle). I am using the cone asymmetrical gradient, and as you can see, it is insufficient. The predominant color through the section is the top color, and the top left color is barely detectable, if at all. Is there a way to do this with the base tools in gimp? Or do I need some kind of add-on. If so, what add-on would be best for this?
I use HDR Scape feature from Snapseed daily. I would rather do it GIMP but so far I haven't found any plugin for GIMP to it. I tried several 3rd party including G'IMC but nothing similar. To note that although Snapseed calls it HDR Scape it's not related to HDR images.
Hey there, so I want to do batch editing with BIMP. I want to use a G'MIC QT Plugin. That part I have figured out. Unfortunately the plugin replaces the background alpha with black, which completely ruins my project. When manually editing I found I can avoid this by selecting the Lock Alpha Channel Button on top of my layers.
Now my Qestion: How the fuck do I lock the ALpha channel using BIMP batch editing? I can't fin any options for it....
Hello. I’ve been using Gimp for years on my MacBook. I recently got a new MacBook and reinstalled the latest version of Gimp. Now whenever I try to use the color clicker for my paintbrush, my paintbrush ends up doing a different color than what I clicked. I never had this issue before. I have my images set to RGB and Dynamics are off, so I’m not sure what it could be. Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated
i have an ssd and this still happens. It took like a 10 seconds maybe
Hi guys! :)
I want to make the face on top right look like the faces on the original picture on the left, I tried the gaussian filter like in the face in the bottom right but it just looks bad. I tried also to add a layer cloning the texture of the original faces and lower the opacity but it also looks bad.
Do you have any suggestion?

New to XP Pen Pro 19 and Gimp from windows, mouse, and an old Photoshop version... so I have a probably dumb question... How can I get my Gimp brush to align with the tip of my XP pen? It lags by about 3" I've tried adjusting brush angle
Grateful for advice.
Example
Ctrl + D = duplicate
CTRL + i = invert
Very annoying i have no idea why.
I imported a collage from Canva to do a simple edit. It's in PNG format. It looks corrupted in the layers panel in GIMP, and even if I add another image, it too looks the same.
Greetings,
I use GIMP on at least three different machines, and 2 OS'. (Linuz and Windows)
Is it possible to syncronize settings (automagiacally) amongst the three machines.
I'm an old fart, and muscle memory is my friend. Having all three the same would go a long way to helping to preserve what little sanity I still possess.
Thanks in advance for any wisdom you can share
chris
Hello,
When I use a map on a cylinder object, the image stretches or expands (even though I didn't scale it). How can I avoid this?
Additionally, I adjusted the layer to match the image size so the entire image would be visible.(Layer-> layer to image size)
I had opened GIMP to make some corrections on some film I scanned today and I wound up getting distacted and this happened. I only stopped after 3 hours when I got hungry and snapped out of the trance.
It's been years since I've just had some fun like this in GIMP, I gotta do this more often (and get around to finishing this, I forgot to feather the edges of the eyes and gave up on trying to make a fractal pattern out of them).
Does adobe fund GIMP so that it is sh*t?
I really am trying to move away from Adobe but GIMP is ridiculous. I spent like 25 minuted trying to figure out how to make a clipping mask, something that is instantaneous in photoshop. Apparently, and according to video tutorials, it takes 3 minutes of several steps to create a clipping mask, "add alpha channel" and what not, but my installation doesn't behave the same way as in tutorials, but even after such point, from what I see in the videos and explanations, the layer won't behave in any intuitive way, you have to keep doing several steps for a single move that in PS would take a single step. I tried to follow the steps, but then I can't use the brush anywhere on the file, using the bucket makes the layer transparent??? I still haven't figured it out, sometimes using the brush works but it draws the layer behind the current layer in a random different position?????? it is incredibly frustrating, it makes painting painful, I can't even estimate how much longer everything is taking because things don't get done at all, this is not a learning curve it's just dogsh*t.
All you have to do was add the same features as PS, and people will transition, but you made something clunkier than Windows that seems to be quite deliberately bad, I really don't see why it would suck so much at all.
I get it's a hobby for the developers to work on this thing every few weeks, I still just donated 15 USD hoping one day it gets better. I'll actually do what I can to help make it good software, but some things just seem too ridiculous, I don't think those are lack of funds they are just lazy.
I'm going to be using GIMP a lot more now that I've been doing more and more videos.
Is there a way to setup certain things so I can make my thumbnail creation more simple? I'm planning on sticking with a theme text wise with title boxes and whatnot. But is there a way I can have it auto-start things like creating a new image in 1280x720 on startup in Transparency mode?
The images I'll actually be using are going to be from my own personal DSLR so I know I'll have to manually resize and crop those myself but I just want a blank slate open and ready for editing.
Is there a way to add anything to the shortcut that will at least start a new file when I open GIMP?
This is probably a very simple task but I'm fairly new to GIMP. I have a background which varies in color and pattern as shown on the left of the image and I'd like to make it fade or blend into a solid color something like on the right. Hope this makes sense.
Just downloaded GIMP so I can make some simple 10x10 px images for some programming stuff. I'm very confused as to why, for example, when I draw with a blue pencil, it appears as magenta. Similarly, if I select black, it draws as red. If I select green, it draws as yellow
What super obvious dumb thing am I missing here??
Things I've checked so far:
Layer's mode is set to Normal
Color mode of the image is RGB
Tool's mode is set to Normal
Alpha lock is not enabled
Color management is set to No color management
So I have this logo in black and my business partner wants it in #d4af37 color instead.
How do I change it to that colour. If I just select the black logo colour and try to fill it with the new one I lose all the anti-aliasing and less solid parts of the logo.
I assume there is a tool that I can use for this but what is it?
Image of Megaman Zero, Related, but just as a guide.
I want to recreate this grid and color scheme (green gradient) with an X-Ray image of a phone so i can place screws and parts on the grid or if its confusing, i could use the image of the X-Ray to guide where each screw goes.
So far, i've managed to create the gradient from black to #39ff14
The grid, in a different layer
but when i put everything together, the gradient and the grid colors gets nullified together, so i don't really like the results... How can i get it to work?. The screw mat is A5 sized. TIA
