I've seen a few other posts with the same issue, where Krita resets seemingly randomly so all my dockers are reset to default and it says I have no recent drawings to work on, but I didn't see any fixes for this. Is it something I'm doing wrong, or is it just something I have to learn to live with? If it is the latter, I saw the solution is to save a copy of the docker settings somehow, but I don't really understand how to do that, so any help would be appreciated!
I am learning to play around with shadows and brighter spots...also a bit of perspective.
Had fun doing this ;p It's my friend's persona🫣✨
Should I do more or should I go all out detailed?👀
Hi Community, I am an absolute beginner with Krita and I am having trouble finding a complete guide. I found a course on udemy which looks like something I would enjoy and it´s really thorough but it is for krita 4.4.3 - it´s not expensive but I don´t want to put my time into something that will teach me obsolete stuff. Do you think for getting an overview and the basics for using krita this still works? Thank you. (I want to use Krita for digital painting, mostly manga style.)
Ex Paint tool and Photoshop artist here 14 years) , trying to use Krita for the first time due to necessity and I feel intimidated. Some suggestions. I have no idea which brush to use to sketch and line art. I'm used to vectorized lines and a soft brush for blushing details. Help?
Hello! I am hoping someone might have the answer to this conundrum. I love Krita, I have used it with a lenovo yoga running Kubuntu and it was perfect. However, I am now using it with a MS Surface Book 2 running Windows 10, and I am getting the most frustrating lag.
Issue Details
Krita runs perfectly for about 10-15 minutes with buttery smooth strokes and zooming. After that, brushstrokes, undos/redos, and zooming starts to get laggier and laggier until I have to restart Krita. Keeping Krita open for a while without touching it makes it run smoother again as well.
Making more brushstrokes in a short period of time appears to accelerate the onset of the lag. Brushstrokes will have a delayed start and a delayed end, but in the process of scribbling with pen to screen it is still smooth.
This happens on any document, though I usually use A4 (300 ppi). Krita does not use a lot of memory or cpu in task manager. Lag is fixed when closing and reopening Krita, but this is annoying to do. This issue does not occur in other programs such as ms paint and firealpaca but Krita is my beloved.

Things I Have Tried With No Success
Having nothing else open
Restarting my computer
Changing every setting known to man
Turn pen smoothing on and off (I keep it off anyway)
Switching renderers
Turning off hardware acceleration
Changing output format
Giving it more ram and cpu
Turning on and off debug options
Different brushes and brush engines (pixel, sketch, etc)
Turning instant preview on and off
Using the discrete nvidia GPU instead of the integrated intel one
Changing windows ink settings and pen settings in ctrl panel
Giving it some time to think about its actions
Resetting all settings
Reinstalling Krita
Losing my mind
If anyone has any tips or ideas or things I have not tried, please do share before I force linux onto this thing :')
I can try to share a video or any logs if that helps.
It took me a while but this is prolly one of my best works so far ^ ^

I put up with it for a time but now I’m reaching my breaking point.
It's only the brush not working, only on these specific files. If I start a new image from blank, everything works.
I can't save anything and finish later because the brush stops working when I open the .kra file.
i use krita for pixel art but something that really annoys me is the background constantly moving, is there a way to lock it in place so i can accurately place and move pixels without zooming all the way in to see the pixel grid or nah?
This my character. What I'm going for is for a warm color to be coming into the dark room she's in. The characters anatomy is a little confusing, so I'm just focusing on feedback on the environment
Criticism is welcomed
i remember at some time posting in this subreddit but that was some times ago
although yes: i'm not a good digital artist, and i don't draw every day for atleast practicing my art skills
but
i just came around my old posts and some of them were on r/krita so i wanted to finally take a break from drawing my tanks (i draw art mostly dedicated to arras.io)
so i wish you a nice december, full of memories that you'll make with your family or friends, while these christmas balls seem to reflect these emotions that you experience while you eat your traditional christmas dishes from your countries, or just kindly and happily celebrate new year
