Synfig Studio is a free and open-source 2D animation software, designed as powerful industrial-strength solution for creating film-quality animation using a vector and bitmap artwork. It eliminates the need to create animation frame-by frame, allowing you to produce 2D animation of a higher quality with fewer people and resources. Synfig Studio is available for Windows, Linux and MacOS X.

Hello, I'm trying to animate a 2d knight. He has a sword, so every time he attacks, I want a slash effect to appear, then once he finishes the attack, the slash effect disappears. Problem is, Idk how - the slash effect (a separated png just like the other body parts) just appears all the time or it just isn't visible all the time. I'm a noob at this, so I just want it visible during part of the animation. How can I do that?
I'm trying to help my husband with his YouTube channel. I want to use synfig to animate parts of flora in a video. like having tree branches wave or grasses waving. stuff like that. I just started but I like synfig. I know everyone says synfig is just as hard as blender. But blender didn't work with my brain. I wasn't able to get through the first lesson. I'm doing the synfig lessons and I understand the lessons. I'm hoping to get to know everyone on here and to understand some of the problems and how you all work through them. I want to know how you show off your wonderful videos of animation. I want to know if there are other places besides YouTube. etc.
Exactly what the title says
In Adobe Animate, you can convert things you draw into symbols, so you can reuse them again and again. How do I do this in Synfig? I'm a beginner, by the way.
I've spent thousands of hours using Synfig, and continuously stumble upon new possibilities and features. I hope that it's popularity continues to grow. I've tried many other free/open vector animation products, as well as a few commercial options, but none of the products I've tried have the full set of features required to produce the cartoons that I make. I do occasionally use other products for things like backgrounds with more effects, e.g. Inkscape, but not many. In fact, many of my vector backgrounds are still best done in Synfig.
