r/FFVIIRemake is designated specifically for news, content, and discussion surrounding the Final Fantasy VII Remake or an extension of that project where it is aesthetically and functionally similar in terms of gameplay. While enthusiasm for the original game and spin-off titles is appreciated and encouraged in discussion, please avoid posting content from the original game or any spin-off titles that would not apply to the remake.
Trolling and flaming is not welcome here.
Inappropriate content will be removed.
A spoiler is ANYTHING from the Remake that hasn’t been revealed in trailers/the demo, OR, any plot point from the original FF7 game inc boss fights.
If your post itself does not contain any spoilers but you expect and/or encourage all spoiler discussion in the comments, please use the "Spoilers OK" flair. If you have very specific spoiler restrictions (e.g., Chapter 8 only), please say so in your post title or body.
Do not post any spoilers in the title itself!
When commenting, be sure to tag all spoilers that fall outside the parent post's spoiler level. To tag spoilers, this:
>!Spoilers go here!<
Becomes: Spoilers go here
Includes but not limited to:
All promotion (links to sources like Youtube, Twitter, etc.), unless whitelisted, must follow Reddit’s 10:1 promotional guidelines, contributing ~9+ pieces of non-promotional content for each piece of promotional content, so be part of the community to share with the community. Please do not post WIP fanart, or advertise your Discord/chat group/forum here. Very occasionally, exceptions to the 10:1 rule may be made at moderator discretion; please do not ask to be whitelisted.
All art posts must contain either the artist's name in the post title, or their @. If neither of these are included, the post will be removed. The only exception is when an artist posts the art directly themselves, in which case the art should be marked as theirs/OC.
Please use modmail instead.

I'm sure this has been discussed to death already in the past several months, and if there's a good thread on the topic, I would welcome a link to it. I've mostly stayed away from this subreddit until I was done the game just to be on the safe side with respect to spoilers.
My initial thought is that as of the end of the game, Cloud kind of has his feet in two different dimensions simultaneously. One in which he successfully parried Sephiroth's attack and saved Aerith, and one in which he did not. The reunion of worlds which Sephiroth involved him with has left him experiencing both simultaneously whereas everyone else is in one or another.
Also, because he is socially inept and blind to the emotional responses of everyone he deals with, he either doesn't know or doesn't care why nobody else is talking to her and nobody bids her farewell when the Tiny Bronco flies off without her, or why they all seem to be so sad about her. He gives no outward sign that he alone continues to be in touch with her and has no obvious reason to keep it a secret.
"What, you guys seriously all didn't see her back there? I thought you were all just being rude."
so ofc i have a ton of expectations for the 3rd game and a bunch of scenes i can’t wait to see remade, as do we all. however i was thinking abt something specifically. we know we will get the highwind in the 3rd game and i assume the traveling with work sort of how the bronco did in rebirth, but i dont want just a cutscene everytime we travel in it. i mean it wouldnt be the end of the world if they didnt do this, but i would love if they made the highwind more like the cruise ship chapter from rebirth, where you can freely roam around on it and maybe interact with stuff and have some character dialogue. i think the atmosphere inside the highwind would be really cool with however they remake it. i remember in the og there were scene inside the highwind, and you got to walk around it a little bit.
I think it makes the most sense that Cid will join the party immediately after the Junon escape right alongside the introduction of the Highwind.
I see Vincent probably joining with the catalyst being revenge against Shinra so probably somewhere in Wutai. It would also be fitting because both Vincent and Yuffie were the two optional characters in the original so it would be kind of fitting that he is introduced as a playable character while visiting the other optional character’s homeland.
Has anyone else played online pvp queens blood online? I saw one of the ff7 streamers (blitz?) playing it the other week. I tried it out and it's a blast to finally play against people instead of the less challenging cpu.
There's not a ton of people playing it but figured this community would really like to know about it.
Mods, idk if this violates some rule or not so sorry if it does
I've already completed the game on release and did damn near everything besides perfect loveless and finish hard mode but I know a lot of people complain about optional content despite it being optional...So I wanted to know just how much of that stuff is undeniably mandatory to complete in order to progress the story cause I remember someone talking about the QB tournament but the game lets you flat out skip that.
Mine’s Solemn Gus’ battle theme.
I am just staring with the ffvii remake, and I am having a hard time picking a language to play the game through. The English cast seems decent, but I feel like cloud is a really weak link to me. The Japanese acting seems a lot better to me, but the audio doesn’t seem to line up with the characters mouths that well.
What do you guys prefer?
Hi. I'm looking for a walkthrough guide that I can follow where the materia for each chapter are clearly labeled (so I don't miss picking up any materia) and where there is a clear photo location of the materia.
The best guide I found was the one at game8.co: https://game8.co/games/Final-Fantasy-VII-Rebirth/archives/Walkthrough-Chapter-1. It clearly lists the materia for each chapter in a color coded format which ensures I won't miss picking up a materia for that chapter.
However, that walkthrough guide doesn't show the photo location of where to find the materia, it just has a text description. The text description is better than nothing, but of course, a photo is easier to follow. Is there a better guide like the game8.co one where it clearly lists the materia for each chapter but also shows a photo with the location of the materia?
I was just thinking about how many new regions part 3 will have compared to how many Rebirth had and I realised the regions will be almost doubled.
Rebirth had 6 regions and part 3 could add another 5
Now Midgar might be a stretch since I could see them expanding the Grasslands region to include it but I dont know honestly. If it's going to stay true to the original then Midgar will be freely open to us after the raid, which means the city could be opened up more than it was in Remake. Including the city and Midgars outskirts it could definitely be big enough to be it's own region with its own stuff to do.
Along with Highwind travel and underwater travel.. part 3 is gonna be massive man.
this sequence with cloud and tifa is a dream world, precisely Cloud's unconscious, could those we see behind be other dream worlds? Maybe other people?
So considering how long Rebirth ended up being how long do we all think the final part will be? Longer? Shorter? Around the same as Rebirth?
Since we're more than likely getting the entire world in this game, and they'd want to add missions to the places we've been to in Rebirth, I'd be surprised if it wasn't longer/bigger than Rebirth was.
So I made a mistake I accidentally got rid of a really good materia but idk the name of it. When you cast a spell and it hits the enemy but then it hits another enemy. I was using fire alot and now that I switched slots and forgot the name the magic doesn’t do it anymore and I’m struggling with the vr combat again lol if anyone knows the name lmk! If I’m explaining poorly I do apologize
But 424 hours (and counting) have gone to rebirth.
Metaphor ReFantazio (About 7 hours) Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance (still wrapped) Super Mario RPG (still wrapped) Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door (still wrapped) Tales of Arise (not installed yet) Xenoblade Chronicles (I’m on chapter 4) Persona 3 Reload (Not installed yet) Scarlet Nexus (Not Installed Yet) Dragon Quest 11 ( the demo was fire but still not wrapped) Visions of Mana (I love that game) Sea of Stars (still wrapped)
I hope everyone on planet earth plays this tbh.
Hi!!
Here is the possibility for us to vote for Rebirth on the contest of ChiriGOTY, the GOTY awards made by Chiclana and Friends, one of the biggest video podcast of videogames in Spanish.
Of course you can vote what you want, but probably many of us think that Rebirth is the best game of the year. In case you want to vote anything that is not on the list, there is an empty box to fill with whatever you want
Is just a google doc, so it’s easy to vote.
I’m on New Game Plus, and oh my God….Gongaga is terribly designed. Specific routes to get where you want to go, but the visuals make it seem like it’s so open.
I need them to further work on traversal in part 3 lol
Anyone shop at the North American Square Enix store? What did you get? I'm eyeing a bunch of merch because it's free shipping today but it's still so expensive. 😭
I'm planning on buying a PS5 for Christmas and I'm a bit confused about how to best buy the game physically. And it seems that the PS4 copy seems out of print as well.
My understanding is that Physical PS5 Intergrade had a very small print and so it's mainly out of stock, so my choices for physical are likely as follows:
I'm down to do either, just want to see if the PS4 upgrade would get me the Intermission DLC as well. If not then I guess buying either used likely makes zero difference.
And before anyone suggests it, yes I know I can buy it digitally, likely on sale, I just want to explore my physical options as that's my preference.
I don't have a PS5 and I kind of just want to watch the story as a movie. Would a video like this be sufficient to understand the whole story properly?
Or are there key things that I might miss that are not in this kind of video
At the Forgotten Capital, when Sephiroth drops down with his sword and Cloud kind of “catches him,” there’s a series of quick cuts between their faces and particularly in their eyes. It very well could just be a coincidence but the way it’s done is almost identical to the back and forth cuts when Cloud faces off with Sephiroth in the Jenova chamber at the beginning of the game. Nothing profound but it seemed like a cool little callback to that moment that properly bookends the first and last chapters.
I just downloaded FF7 remake ps4 jap/eng ver and upgraded it to ps5. I cant find the japanese language option in ps5. Is there a way to install it because i prefer japanese language with english subtitle. Thank you!!
