Hi, as in the title, are there linkshells in Bahamut for people that would like to do story quests and non-endgame content without trusts?
Cheers
After spending time creating and testing various gear sets, I noticed a frustrating issue that may be familiar to other players: gear “collisions.” These occur when a set change requires a ring or earring to be equipped in one slot, but it’s already equipped in the opposite slot.
For instance, if Set A equips Ring X on the left ring slot and Ring Y on the right, and then you switch to Set B, which places Ring Y on the left and Ring X on the right, the game may struggle to process the change smoothly. Often, only one ring or earring will switch, while the other remains unchanged. Worse, as you continue switching sets, this “collision” can happen again but in the reverse order, creating inconsistent results in which some gear only equips intermittently.
This inconsistency can impact gameplay if specific rings or earrings are critical to a set's intended effect. I am also wondering about collisions that may occur if two or more pieces of gear have the same name, such as the Armid Gorget for instance. Would an empty Armid Gorget get selected before one with charges if you created a macro for this?
There is also an issue with Capes having the same name, but different stats. When I have examined /equipset macros with the job specific capes from Ambuscade, the Cape information does not include the stats. This makes me wonder if they are being swapped in and out correctly.
Has anyone else experienced these issue, and are there any reliable ways to prevent collisions, and to verify that gear is being changed correctly for all sets? One approach I’m considering is standardizing left and right slots for commonly shared rings and earrings across all sets. However, this is easier said than done, since some jobs have so many sets to go through.
I know there have been quite a few of these posts already in the last few days (which i hope bodes well). I read many of the replies to them and they were quite helpful. I was fortunate and had next to no issues with the playonline mega boss.
That said. Ive been gone 13 ish years (started on NA release and was an avid HNM guy and crafter) and decided to let my OG character, Drakka, stay retired and started a new one. DrakkaReborn. If any of my old friends are here and active id love to catch up.
Oh and thanks to everyone for keeping the server hamsters fed while i was away.
I heard a sound track on Apple Music and it’s sparked something in me to come back. Looks like all the cool kids are on bahamut so i will try it out. Anyone able to get me a gold pass? My main was summoner, how is that lately? I will have to remember how to play again and do macros and whatnot.
Looking for some guidance on what to do after base 119 bayld gear. I have the full set and the homestead weapon. I just don't know what to do now. I was able to get the Jute Boots+1 from the Unity NM solo. That was fun. I really like to solo but some of the other Unity NMs steam rolled me. Other than that what content is actually worth doing to get better gear? Auction House is also a no go for now, most of the pieces I need from there are 30mil plus. I also wanted to try some other jobs like GEO but the gear requirements seem ridiculous. It just feels daunting without a clear path and guides don't really help with the multiple relic quests and 100 different currencies etc.
Hey guys.
I’m burned out from XIV and always wanted to try XI ever since I was a kid.
The fact that installing this is, apparently, a nightmare + having to pay 12,99€ a month to play is kinda putting me off… especially since I’m afraid of encountering a dead game (no players around, empty cities, etc…)
Is it worth getting into XI in 2024? Is it alive? Do you recommend a server? (i’m from Europe)
Many thanks :)
If so, any simplified guides out there?
Since there are lots of posts about lore lately, these links were translated by Elmer the Pointy from Japanese lore books released a long time ago :

I am a fairly new player that just finished RoV. I really don’t enjoy needing to get multiple sets of gear and swapping so much. Love the game aside from that. Is there any way to be successful playing this game without it multiple sets of gear and swapping several times per encounter?
In particular title music #4. I've scoured YouTube and have found all the OST except for these. :(
Hey all, I'm a new player but I've been a tank main in mmo's for decades now and I want to main it in FFXI as well. Eventually.
I'm not asking this to get into end game ASAP, but I do want to be a tank main once I get to that point.
I need some advice on how to approach my journey here because the advice I've gotten is to start as a class that's easy to solo and farm stuff (so i'm currently thf/dnc) and then slowly gear up a support or a war for ease of gearing but.. I'm just not having as much fun. I'm still nowhere near end game or even finishing the main story but I want to tank and play the tank classes. Even if it's not as efficient or might be more difficult, I really want to play the classes that I want to play, you know?
Can anyone give me a quick little guideline on how to approach going through the main story of the game as a person who wants to play a tank (super interested in RUN) even if I'm not actually tanking content. I just want to start getting familiar with the class I'm interested in the most.
Brushing up on FF11 lore with the ff14 raid coming out, but found weirdly little on Lion. She sacrifices herself in RoZ, is hinted that she might be alive somewhere, but then wiki and summaries go cold beyond a few time travel references. Did they ever follow up on her, or was her dive into a magic reactor her last hurrah?
I bought a new dell all in one last year with an iris “graphics card” and hoped id be able to run FFXI on it as my previous lenovo all in one managed to, but that was on windows 10.
I installed it on the new computer with windows 11 using the official installer and booted up playonline for it to flicker and glitch and just crash and disappear so I uninstalled.
Coming back today to see if anything has changed, if its worth another try….
Any other options? Thanks in advance.
Is it due to a similar problem that the also-lowtech Elvaan also have?
Or could it be due to their matriarchal nature (which would reference the fact that real-life matriarchies tend to be low-tech)? Then again, the Mithra were still so prosperous that they were able to spare a lot of mercenaries to aid Windurst in the Crystal War (Gha Naboh was so prosperous that a map of Vana'diel referred to it as "The Great Southern Empire").
How long each race live ? Engl7sh is not my native language. I couldn't find how long each race (including beastmen) live. Did anybody know and could give me source?
Welcome to the question megathread! If you have any questions around FFXI at all, this is the place to ask. Scroll down to the comments and ask away. Various FFXI resources are provided in the body of this topic directly before the comments.
Are you a new or returning player? We have quite the list of Frequently Asked Questions that's pretty comprehensive of the questions most commonly asked around the sub. If your question isn't answered there, feel free to shoot in the comments below.
BG Wiki is a modern FFXI wiki with up-to-date pages on endgame specifics as well as various guides.
It is currently the only XI wiki with an active staff which are always working with members of the community to address concerns and suggestions. BG seeks to be the main wiki of the community. Consolidating the efforts of everyone into one single wiki is the most productive and effective. We welcome and invite all to join us!
FFXIclopedia is a comprehensive general-purpose wiki for FFXI that typically covers pages for each item/area/BCNM/etc. Note: The site has heavy ads when logged out, due to Wikia (especially on mobile).
FFXIAH is a website showing the Auction House history & current items for sale in-game, as well as a forum community among other things. FFXIDB is a database website showing drop rates of items as well as monster spawns based of player data collected by Guildwork.
There are various ways to make new friends and meet people in FFXI. The first recommendation is to find a Linkshell via Linkshell Concierge NPCs. If you check these NPCs directly after a maintenance, this is typically a good way to find active Linkshells. Another suggestion is to find a community website for your server; many servers have a Facebook group (some are listed on the subreddit sidebar). The subreddit also has a Discord server for chatting/voice.

Looking to start playing tonight after getting the install all done yesterday.
Is there any chance I could get a gold world pass for bahamut please? Thanks
Then end game and early game content would all be found in one spot! It’d be the best mmorpg wiki out there!
For me, I played jointly with my brother on the PS2 HDD on the same account until Xbox 360 had the beta and I got my own on Seraph. One of the few things that was fun about that is could overlay music you installed over game play.
For me, anytime I hear almost any song by Eve 6's Horrorscope reminds me of how many times I hunted Emperor Hairpin in the Dunes for bot only myself but other friends as well, listening to the full album over and over again and knowing the 2nd time I hear Rescue (track #5)....it was time to start scanning.
Hi all, I’ve been playing FFXIV for about 7 years now and I’ve recently started to think about playing FFXI. The main reason is that I’ve come to realize a lot of FFXIV story points I like may have originated with FFXI. The main thing that’s stopping me is the install and account process. To me my FFXIV account is my most valuable subscription that I have and I use it every day so I’m a little worried about linking it to PlayOnline in case anything could go wrong. Is this a valid concern or should I just go ahead with it? Also install wise is there any risk of messing up my FFXIV install by installing FFXI? As in shared files or anything? Maybe I’m over thinning this but I wanted to check here if anyone knew of any issues to look out for.
Starting the end game grind, trying to find others going through the same. Solo ambuscade is fine and all, just taking forever. Any groups looking?
I've tried everything, but he won't accept the items. I thought I had the quest active, but I can't find it anywhere on my list of quests; I tried everything to activate the quest, but the Moogle won't give me the dialogue. I need help here.
Edit: I already have the highest rank of Reputation in my home nation.
The subject line, tried asking in other topics, but just thought I’d make it easier to see my request instead of it drowning in other comments!
Any help would be appreciated! Also wouldn’t mind making a new friend in the process!! I am trying to also join an active and friendly LS that is friendly to LGBTQ players like myself.
Just a little about me, I played 20 years ago, I think on this very server! However, I decided to start out fresh. Probably will have to delete the character I just made yesterday, but that’s okay with me.
I have an old lv63 redmage I made almost 20 years ago on midgarsomer server. I am thinking about replaying the game
Edit Manage to recover my old SE account but cannot find my old playonline account. Guess if I go back in again, will be in fresh character
! Belive If A Physical Game IS Released That Said Game Should Stay Playable After XX Years Passes
FFXI For The Xbox 360 Has Tons OF Content But Its Locked Behind Servers That Are Now Dead
Someone Needs To Create A Custom Server For FFXI
