so, yesterday I loaded up the game just fine and then took a break and closed XIV. I come back to it later in the day and I log in and click play... Black screen, the couser is showing but thats it. All I could find about this happening is more than a year ago and only with the steam version. (I don't use steam for XIV)
Need 4,000 Poetic tomes. What's the fastest or most efficient farm for these guys?
Like, i my wife wants to play, so i´m going with her, but i want to know:
The game is like: You buy you play whenever you want? Or have a subscription? This isn´t clear to me
The Steam Complete Version doesn´t mention Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions, why? (She Wants to play all bc Emet Selch)
So, long time I dont play, and I used to store a lot of things directly on Glamour Dresser.
Is there any way to know if an item stored on GD can be put on Armoire to open more space on my GD? I know that when on inventory it shows the icons near its name, but passing through the itens on GD there's no these icons, so I'm worried I'll have to withdraw all my lvl. 1 itens and go with luck (spending prisms).
Any other solutions?
It would seem squenix has game designed themselves into a hole.
The core problem with pictomancer's raid damage is because it gets rewarded for having down time where the other jobs don’t, and the new PF is chock full of downtime.
Nerfing picto or straight buffing the other classes would be bandage fixes at best.
A majority of DPS jobs as they are now are just not designed to deal with downtime during raid fights, and are in need of revisions to better mesh with squenix’s new fight design philosophy, 8.0 cannot come sooner.
...originates not from Alexandria's shard, but from the Rift aka where we fought Nabriales and where Elidbus tried to trap us?
Sareel Ja specifically states he obtained his electrope from the "world between worlds" which is absolutely replete with it. Every time this phrase has been used in XIV, it's referred to the Rift. Sareel Ja even mentions seeing Vana'diel much the same way we see memories and moments across time when we've flown through the Rift.
I know he also calls it the "Walk of Echoes" which afaik is another FFXI reference, but with XIV's whole thing being taking lore from other FF games and reinterpreting through the lens of its own lore, the "Walk of Echoes" and "Rift" both make sense as being the same place referred to by two different names. It's a place outside of time where things tend to get "lost" such as what happened with Taynor and Zero (and the three paragons, I'm pretty sure).
When Sareel Ja revealed this initially, I immediately searched up what I could see of the rift so far in the game, and the look of the materials and structures seemed to match electrope. Somehow, most likely through a now abandoned Ascian plan, electrope made its way to the "ninth". Also the end of Amaurot seems filled with this material. It would make sense that lightning would work so well on a material created or used by Ascians, seeing as lightning is the element most naturally aligned towards being astral (dark). From seeing what Sareel Ja can do with it, it seems possible that access to this material would allow sundered magic users easier access to the ancient art of creation.
So while I didn't expect to see a huge reaction to the revelation, it seems like I can't find anyone speaking about this at all. So am I wrong or was the statement just so obvious that folks have just decided it's not as big a deal as I think and moved on with no feathers ruffled?
I know you can buy a Phial of Fantasia on the online store but can you do this if you're still on the free trial? Also, do you ever get one in game or is it only in the store?
I think Dawntrail does the best job of world building of any of the content so far. You really get a feel for the various cultures of the continent, and a general idea of how they became one society. Especially the first half of the expansion, in Xak Tural. The overarching plot of the quest to become Dawnservant might have been a little cliche, but I really enjoyed going to those areas, and learning about their inhabitants.
PF raging tho

I consider myself a pretty good frontlines player, in that I can get on any job, and within a couple of matches (finding grove etc), be in the top 10 assist/dmg/healing. With the new drk, I just cannot find a grove, and also die incredibly fast compared to… well, all jobs. Yes, I’m using TBN. One of the main issues I’m seeing, is that for me, Impalement isn’t hitting 90% of the time. You can use that ability even if no one is around, so I’m guessing server ticks is causing it to not connect if someone has moved outside of its range, even if they are on top of you on your screen. So far I haven’t had any issues on other jobs with abilities doing this.
What am I missing? Or should they just make this ability only useable in the same way most other melee abilities are used, as in a target must be in range?
I didn’t drk much pre patch, but could hang with other decent pullers. Now, maybe 1 out of 10 matches can I get a good showing.
Open to advice! It’s a fun job, but other tanks seem light years better suited to the insanity that is frontlines.
Hey all, I've recently developed an interest in 3D animation thanks to all the gpose and comic work. Been working on this animation for the past few months and thought I'd offer a sneak peek. Hope you enjoy!
So I’ve only ever run maps with friends and my FC, but this week I can’t attend that day. So I’m looking to use Party Finder. I’ve seen some groups listed before and it seems like asking people to bring at least 2 maps is the standard.
I was wondering how does one make sure that everyone does this? And if there’s any other standard practices or things I should be aware of before I try to pug. TYIA!

With the release of FRU it seems like a lot of drama within the raiding community in FFXIV has bubbled up again. This time, one sly little red boi is the cause of it all. Frosty in the blogpost talks about their experience with raiding and races in Final Fantasy and what they think the future of races will be like.
Overall, I think the article is pretty thoughtful and well-written, and he does address concerns for both the playerbase and SE themselves. These rules for future races did get clarified (it does say that it won't apply to old races, only future ones):
No add-ons can be used and no terms of service with FFXIV can be broken
No datamining attempts should be made by members of the team or someone who is trying to support the team.
All teams must have one player at minimum streaming live and VODs should persist.
The post does go more in depth but I don't want to add too much extra stuff to this post, so I honestly recommend just reading it yourself for more context and see the thought process behind the bullet points. But I think this could bring up a pretty good discussion with players online about how they feel overall. Personally I am not a high-end raider myself but I do want to be even though I'm still pretty new (I am only halfway through Endwalker right now but I did finish the Eden raids for context to FRU). I think these are pretty good points but I do see why some people may be concerned with the first point about the add-ons. Some players are concerned with not being allowed to log or use ping-reduction tools or VPNs. Already there's a bad-faith actor talking about how teams shouldn;'t use Discord to communicate. Since I'm not at that level for raiding yet, I feel like my opinion is probably worth less than others who have played longer, so what do you guys think?
I want to avoid learning about anything past Stormblood in the Encyclopedia for now, and my favorite storyline has been Heavensward by far.
Can anyone give me a breakdown of what each volume entails as far as Lore and DLC's, and which one I should get?
I keep failing the duty. I rescue Rielle from the rune. But then Sidurghu dies? Help! 😭
Well as fate would have it control of our fc got dumped in my lap recently when our fc owner decided to take a personal hiatus. They said I have full authority to decorate our fc house as a first mate as long as I stick to a tavern theme. That being said if any of yall have ideas for a tavern themed fc house(it's a small sized house if that matters) or even just items that give a tavern vibe I would love any and all suggestions so I can budget the fc money for this.
it is not sellable, not desynthesizable, not turnable in GC
