I collect HD-DVDs as well as regular DVDs. Any HD-DVD collector knows that WB titles are all rotting. With the best calculations I can put together, a full 66-75% of WB titles will no longer play through. Now I have kept an ear towards any issues in the regular DVD population and just ran across a video from mid '24 that zeroed in, once again, on WB. It seems they are once again responsible for rotting media; this time with our beloved regular DVDs. Although the author mentioned that he was also an HD-DVD collector, when he mentioned that WB DVDs from around '06-'09 seemed much more susceptible, he didn't point out the "coincidence" that those are the very same years WB was pressing the disasterous HD-DVDs. It seemed the box sets were the worst affected group. Thoughts? Are we headed into yet another great rotting era of WB discs?
I found an online version of The Traveling Players (O thiasos) from 1975, and the runtime shows 3 hours and 42 minutes. All internet sources state the movie's runtime is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Is the version I have the complete movie in PAL format? Is the runtime in the original format actually 3 hours and 42 minutes?
I got a DVD player from goodwill for like $8 so pretty cheap. It works fine and all. It doesnt play blue-ray but whatever no big deal, the volume is pretty low but I can just turn up the TV so again no big deal. I do have a question however. DVD cases, for me at least, are hard to store when you don't really have a lot of space or money for shelves/whatnot, and I'm thinking of moving my DVD collection into Jewel cases to conserve space and give them an interesting look too. My question is: first, whether or not I can find any art that's the right ratio/look to fit the front of the case, and second, if that's not something that's recommended is there a cheaper way to store my DVD cases that still looks interesting. For the record I'm currently my DVD cases in this ( https://a.co/d/a6S35lc ) except it's black instead of clear. My collection is just getting too big to fit on this anymore.
I would like to add that if I put my DVD collection into Jewel cases I will be keeping the empty cases in a box somewhere, it would a be a wase to throw away the good cases, and the art on the covers is amazing not to mention box set art and case cover art. Worst comes to worst I put the empty cases on Ebay or something so collectors with just the disc can have a case.
Been slowly building up my collection and now I have enough to dedicate one shelf to Horror. Thoughts? Your favourite movie here?
went thrifting for my bday and i found a couple of goodies!!
I don't know where else to post this question except here. What is the difference between dvd and blu ray?Can you play 4k movies on a normal dvd player?
The reason why I'm asking is because I want to buy the wicked movie but I only have a regular old dvd player so I don't want to buy the dvd if I'm unable to play it.
Any help would be appreciated 😊
My local video rental store held out for a long time but is now selling everything. I've been picking through and found some gems today!

Hey, everyone! I am Ryan from The Disc-Connected and Someone's Favorite Productions. I wanted to hop on and let everyone know that we are only 32 hours away from the deadline for the community to vote in the Shelf Shock Rewind Awards! To vote, click this link and you're in! We have a bunch of categories ranging from best release in certain genres like martial arts or horror to best supplemental features like audio commentaries or visual essays. But the biggest categories are thinks like best labels, best overall release, best box set, and more!
With every single category, we have a handful of titles that were nominated by the Creators Selection Committee. This is a group of individuals from the industry that range from podcasters and YouTubers to filmmakers and people running boutique physical media labels. The best part, though, is that if you do not agree with nominated titles, you can write in a title in any of the categories!
The awards will be LIVE on The Disc-Connected and the Shelf Shock Rewind YouTube channels on February 16th at 8:00p EST/6:00p PST! There will be live giveaways and a running chat, of course! We hope to see you there!
I basically just go to different thrift stores every day and look for good movies or interesting ones that I haven’t seen yet. I’m trying to build a HUGE library so I’ll most likely be needing to buy more book shelves.
