Is it legal to own peacock birds?

When I buy my villa, which will have its own garden and a pool, I want to have some birds, including peacocks. Is this legal? What do I need to do to own them? I know they have to be looked after - and I’ll have someone to do that. But what’s the process and where can I get them? What about chickens etc? Want fresh eggs. Also, what about a small cow 🐄 for fresh milk. Possible or no? I’ll make sure none of the animals fall into the pool.

Thanks

To the people who have worked in UK, USA. What salary % increment over your West salary made you make the decision to move to Dubai?

Contemplating an offer rn. I’m being offered same as what I currently earn. Will I be taxed in anyway? Right now i get taxed 30% so is it a straight 30% bump

Should I accept a job offer in Dubai commission only?

Hi! I got a job offer in Dubai as a property & investment Consultant for a broker. The job is commission based only and has no based salary. If I accept the offer, I would be moving from Montreal, Canada to Dubai. I have family there but I'm thinking of finding my own place and not fully relying on them. I have experience in sales but not in real estate. I have 7 years experience in sales but I’m not currently working in it. I’m 28 years old, single and currently live with my parents. I need advice on whether I should accept this offer or not. Is it worth taking this risk?

Schengen visa netherlands

Hello, if anyone has recently had an appointment at VFS for netherlands short stay visa, what is the current processing time? How long after the appointment was your passport ready for collection?

Also, in case the processing time is taking too long, is there any way to get my passport back for emergency travel somewhere else? (And to forfeit the schengen visa application)

Am I the only one who wishes Classic FM had better reception in Dubai?

I'm the kind of guy who's in LOVE with Abu Dhabi Classic FM, but their apparently dedicated frequency for Dubai (87.9) has plenty of interference... or almost a subliminal way of saying "if you're cultured, leave and relocate to the Mother Emirate ya habibi." I wonder if there's some way we can get them to install a signal repeater here, some car DIY antenna solution, or other.

How Long Did You Guys Take To Get Your Passport Back For US Visa

How long did it take you guys get to get your passport back from the US embassy? I've finished the application process all the way to passport submission via Emirates Post, however I couldn't submit it when they confirmed it a bout 1.5 weeks ago as I needed my passport for a recent travel, and another travel coming.

Did any of you get it back in 9 working days as that's the only I have next. Or would the submission window close? Thx a bunch.

Considering a move to Dubai

Hi all, I'm an Indian national in the UK, looking to relocate to Dubai for work. I've got two years of experience in marketing and project coordination. Any insights on salaries and living costs? Also, should I come on a job search visa or keep trying from here with eight months left on my UK visa? Thanks!

Looking for a 3D designer to create models of offices.

Hi, I own an interior design company and would like to make 3D models for an office I am designing. If anyone can refer me to someone who does this or an application where I can find such expertise that would be great. Fiverr did not help. Thanks!

Let’s create a thread to post tips for reaching a human when calling customer support

I will go first:

To reach human support for du customer care, the easiest way I have found is to:

  1. call ‘800 155’ and pressing ‘1’ to get visual IVR message.
  2. Once you receive the message with the visual IVR link click ‘continue’, click on ‘Ask for same number’, then click on ‘Support’.
  3. Now when you call ‘155’ again, you will get connected to a human representative to talk.

What are some good buffet restaurants?

I was looking for a good buffet restaurant for a big group. Probably around the range of 75-100 per person.

Some of the most obvious ones I had in mind were Barbecue Nations and ABs, but I don't think they're as good as they used to be. What are your suggestions,

Affordable Cancer Prescription

Hello fam

I have a family member living in Jordan who needs regular cancer medication called Rituximab (also called MabThera). The injections are very very expensive.

Can someone recommend an affordable way of getting this medication? Maybe by buying it in Turkey or India or some other place?

And if so, what’s the process? Does the patient need to go to country to get a prescription?

Swimming pool to do laps

Tried all the ways to search and did come across results but would like to try here as well for more options... Where can I go to swim (laps) early in the morning? Like 6am, 7am. Hamdan is painfully far. I also don't have a car. Willing to Careem/taxi from Nahda 2. Thanks to all who will give info 🙏🏼 (Note: I am a female adult, 'ladies only' locations will do)

Good projects in business bay/Downtown

Hi fellow Redditors,

I just moved to Dubai and have been looking for a 1 Bdr apartment in business bay/downtown. I will be working there and prefer to be close to my work. I have been reading a lot of posts on Reddit and been searching for houses in property finder and bayut.

However, when I find something that I think I would be happy with, I read the google reviews and usually there are a lot of issues with the projects.

Hence, I would like to ask if anyone living around the area has some nice recommendations of good 1 bedroom apartments?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Bringing my PC into Dubai

Hi, Egyptian here. I’ll be taking my annual leave from work in June and then go back to Egypt. My PC is there and I’m thinking of bringing it back with me but I am unsure how the airports would interact with that.

I of course won’t be bringing the PC case, but just the main bits of the PC: CPU, GPU, Motherboard, RAM, and maybe the power supply.

Would that work? Or would they find some electronics in my bag and be like oh no you don’t?

Is a company allowed to terminate you immediately for "cutting costs"?

Is a company allowed to terminate your employment immediately without notice and without prior warning just out of the blue because "they aren't making enough money"?

Can any legal action be taken here? There was no prior warning and there is no "notice period".. it just came out of the blue because the company is "not making enough money" and I have still no idea about any compensations. It was just sudden and instant and told me you can just leave now.

I'm honestly for legal action to be taken here if that's possible.
