Ok, so The Penguin has ended - and was bloody brilliant - and we have Riddler Year One but are there any other comics or stories set in that world officially?
When we consider the fact that James Gunn is developing his own Batman for the mainstream, and that comic book films have proven to be VERY successful with the R rating, why should The Batman 2 be held back by the PG-13 rating?
The Penguin was amazing! It’s going to be hard going back to that PG-13 setting after being in this R rated atmosphere that was handled so incredibly well.
Oil on canvas.
The Batman and specifically gotham has had a lot of history in terms of it's aesthetics, I decided to look at the most recent adaptation of Batman and explore how Matt Reeves and James Chinlund used existing buildings and architectural styles alongside their own creations in order to bring their world of Gotham to life. Exploring how the cities of Liverpool, Chicago, New York, Edinburgh and Glasgow impacted their Gotham also exploring the styles of the new Wayne Manor and Batcave presented in the movie.
I'm of course talking about Batman. I know the story wanted to focus on The Penguin, so I'm just having fun theorising in story.
In the first film, we see he's somewhat of an amateur, and Gotham ends up flooding at the end of the first film. I've got a feeling he went away to Nanda Parbat, or somewhere in the Himalayas to train further to become the experienced Batman we all know. If the second film is a continuation of the first where he's still somewhat of an amateur, I'll be disappointed

It is very loosely based on John Henry Irons' Superman. It grossed $1.7M total against a budget of $16M.
So tonight the season finale of The Penguin is going to be released, with Batman apparently too busy with “Bruce Wayne stuff” to deal with Oz and Sofia, who have been at each other’s throats since at least episode 5. And despite that not being a really GOOD reason to not deal with a FREAKING GANG WAR (and I know I’m not alone on this), it’s still a reason nonetheless and he’s probably doing something that’s beneficial for Gotham after the crap Riddler pulled in the first movie, which I’m okay with. And that in mind, can PLEASE get at least a MENTION of him before the season ends?!? Seriously, except for like a brief mention of him in the beginning of episode 1 (and it was on a news broadcast), he’s not mentioned ONCE since then. This is the same guy who was the caused the death of Carmine Falcone, biggest gangster in Gotham and Sofia’s FATHER (and yeah, he was tricked by Riddler, but they don’t know that). So don’t you think that both Oz and Sofia should be worried that a guy dressed as a bulletproof flying mammal would be a BIT of a problem for the them? But yeah, a small cameo (even though that’s unlikely) or even a mention in the finale would be appreciated, ‘cause if there isn’t, we’re going to have a problem!
Yesterday I went to Waterstones and was very Suprised to find a Batman Novel, A New Sequel to Batman 89 ( I've also got the Graphic Novel, this seems to be an alternative Telling) set Sometime before Batman Returns and deals with the Immediate aftermath of the Jokers Death, I'm 109 pages in and it's absolutely brilliant, you can really tell its Written by a fan of the film and there's even a Sequel to this book coming next year!.. definitely on my to buy list.
Playing the Arkham games, I'm convinced you don't need to be realistic to have a dark, mature and serious story. Even the Snyder Cut convinced me of this, and that's a team up movie with aliens, Demigods and Atlanteans. I want more mystical elements with the likes of Poison Ivy, Clayface, Mr Freeze etc which is why I'm excited for James Gunn to have his own interpretation of Batman separate from Matt Reeves.
