University of Minnesota (Minneapolis) Carry?

I'm having a hard time finding info about carrying concealed on campus. Visiting as a guest not a student.

The college does not "allow it", in MN signs dont have power and "schools" are considered only up to high school.

I'd love to hear some info, or find some clear cut rules/legal implications.

Asking for a friend of course.

Need help drafting a letter to our campus PD for empty holster protest. Reason why: Armed robbery happened at entrance to my dorm, 200 yards away from police station.

I would love some examples of letters that have been written to the local police chapter.

I was going to have my group just do it (we're a small group, like ~20 dedicated people) without telling the police, but they're going to be super on edge, as well as the student population, and we want to let the cops know there will be good guys out there with empty holsters.

Oh yeah, we had an unarmed security guard ~20 yards away form this too. No way to keep us safe with just a radio and a highly reflective jacket.

Attention Arkansas Students!

Hi guys,

I am the Arkansas State Director of Students for Concealed Carry. Right now, we have 3 universities that have some sort of organizational representation. We need more! I have one guy on looking at starting a chapter at NWACC, but we really need the U of A, and other big schools in the state so we can get the ball rolling. I've made contact with my representatives, but I need more students joining the cause. If you are a student in Arkansas, or even just a resident, we need your help! Our state's congress has been in session for about 2 weeks now, so the clock is ticking. If you want to get involved but don't know how, please PM me!

Thanks guys,

FP

I'm not sure I understand this policy (MS)

I am going to be attending the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in August. I will, hopefully, have the money saved up for a ccp, the enhancement class (needed to carry on campuses), and a gun (damn, I'm broke as hell). I was curious about the guidelines Ole Miss had set out for firearms since in 2011 my state passed laws that allowed concealed carry on school grounds as long as you possessed a ccp and had the NRA enhancement course. Yet when I looked up the policy for Ole Miss, I saw this:

FIREARMS POLICY The Board recognizes that the possession of pistols, firearms or other weapons on any of its institutional premises or at its institutions or student functions off‐campus by persons other than duly authorized law enforcement officials, institutional security officials, other authorized persons and the institutional approved programs creates an unreasonable and unwarranted risk of injury or death to its institutions' employees, students, visitors and guests and further creates an unreasonable and unwarranted risk of damage to properties of the institutions, employees, students, visitors, guests and properties of others. Because of such dangers, the Board hereby prohibits the possession of pistols, firearms or other weapons in any form by any person other than duly authorized law enforcement officials, institutional security officials and other authorized persons regardless of whether such person possesses a valid permit to carry such pistols, firearms or weapons.

Does this mean that even though the laws were passed, and they can't keep me from legally carrying, they still can keep me from legally carrying on campus? Any help would be appreciated.

Another question I have is concerning Students for Concealed Carry. Is there a branch in MS considering we're allowed to carry on campuses that aren't privately owned? If not, how hard would it be to set something like that up?

[VA] Anyone near Fredericksburg?

Looking for some people to go and shoot with. I'm at UMW, wondering if anyone in here is nearby/would want to go and shoot sometime, cause going alone gets boring. I've posted in r/ShootingTrips a couple of times with no luck, so I thought I'd try here.

[GA] Judge dismisses HB826 case, but agrees with plaintiff

You can read the full order here

The tl;dr of it is:

Because of sovereign immunity, the judge dismissed the case, but agrees with the plaintiff in that HB60 should not have overwritten the provision in HB826 that allows GWL holders to carry their firearms in school zones.
