3 from Paul Ernst writing as Kenneth Robeson( the Doc Savage novels using the same house name were written by Lester Dent)

Picked up East of Eden 1/1. Has the 1/1 misspelling on page 281.  Decent shape but sadly no dust jacket.  I’ll order a facsimile and keep searching!

East of Eden

It’s the 15th printing of a 1927 biography of Otto von Bismarck, so nothing special in itself. But it was originally owned by Stephen Hawking’s father Frank and was still in Prof Hawking’s collection when he died in 2018.

It may not look like much from the cover, but the provenance makes this the favourite piece in my collection. 

H.P. Lovecraft-"Cry Horror" 1959..now if only I can't figure out how to get that marker off the cover

For Halloween I am posting 2 incredible anthologies big weird and macabre fiction edited by August Derleth- "Sleep No More" hardcover 1st Edition 1944, and "Who Knocks" hardcover 1st edition 1946

It may not be an original 1st edition print but I've always wanted an older copy of this. I hope you had a good life Albert, whoever you were.

Does anybody know what these circled numbers would indicate?

Has anyone dealt with [Brit Books](http://britbooks.co.uk)?  I had not seen their name referenced as a bookjacker, so I placed an order with them a few weeks ago I'm now feeling skeptical due to

(1.) I placed the order over 2 weeks ago and it's still listed as "Processing" 

(2.) I never received an order confirmation email (though order is listed in my online account) 

(3.) They have not responded to either of the inquiries I've sent through their contact form over the last 2 weeks.

Has anyone else dealt with them, and if so, how did it go?

Found this for $7 at a thrift store, I think it’s a first edition? 

Carter Beats the Devil by Glen David Gold. Combing mystery , political intrigue and Early 20th century illusionists. For a really fun read

Mostly Dune on this shelf with a handful from Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert as well

I am trying to decide whether to return or keep a set of rare books I bought online. They have (confirmed) white mold on the cloth edges of the books, and one of the dustjackets has mold on its interior. 

Several helpful people here have advised that I could sterilise and remove the mold, allowing me to keep and enjoy the set. But I've seen other opinions that once a book has grown mold, it is best to just get rid of it or at least keep it forever apart from the rest of one's collection.

I don't have much space in my home for book segregation nor do I have the luxury of a controlled atmospheric environment. I don't know if I would feel comfortable keeping the set even if the visible mold is removed. But it also seems a shame to pass on rare books in otherwise near-mint condition.

I've read the FAQ and have searched through previous posts, but haven't been satisfied with any of the answers I've seen. So I'd like to ask you all: do you keep such books, or just get rid of them?

"Norgil- More Tales of Prestidigitection" by Maxwell Grant/ Walter B.Gibson.the creator of over 283 books of The Shadows adventures,brings us a new type of Detective signed and numbered 1st edition with cover by Steranko.

Found some great vintage paperback mysteries. I love the covers on these editions.

A little backstory:

I checked myself into rehab back in July and stayed there just shy of 60 days. Up to that point, it had been over 10 years since I had read a book. It’s hard to read and drink at the same time, and one has to take priority. 

I brought Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson with me. I purchased the book when it first came out, but it just sat in my basement all that time. After finishing that, I ordered another book off of Amazon. “Clients”, as they called us, were given their phones once a week for an hour. I used that time to shop.

The book I ordered was The Wager by David Grann, and that basically set everything else into motion. I read 14 books while I was there, becoming obsessed with stories on nautical/maritime history, then followed by Victorian-era exploration after reading The River of the Gods by Candice Millard, which turned me onto Richard Francis Burton.

When I got home, I wanted to find as many books on these topics as I could, particularly on Burton, and I came across publishers like the Folio Society, Heritage Press, Easton Press, etc. Two months later, this is the result, and I suppose you could say that I’m still an addict. The disease now is called bibliomania.

And yes, I desperately need actual bookshelves.

Became sober but caught bibliomania. The result after two months...

Just got this one up for sale in my shop. Such a fantastic classic smut novel, with one of my favorite opening paragraphs to any book. Wolkers writes such vivid scenes that it’s hard to not be titillated, disgusted and in awe all at once. Incredibly vivid!
