Buenas tardes,
Muchas gracias
Com va tots?

About a year ago, bicing/smou started replacing pneumatic tires with solid rubber ones. This is great in some ways. You see a lot less bikes with flat tires, and it cuts down on maintenance costs.
However, when it rains, or the road is wet after being cleaned, there are so many people falling off their bikes. These tires offer zero grip in wet conditions. It's exaggerated by the fact that these tires don't need to be replaced often, so their tread wears out completely.
We'll see the consequences of this even more during the upcoming rainy months. There will be a tremendous amount of suffering, broken bones, hospital visits, and missed productivity. Honestly, it'll probably result in a fatal accident at some point. And this is preventable.
I'm an experienced cyclist, and so are my friends. All of us fell off bicings on wet roads, even when we are all fully aware of the situation with the wheels. It's like riding on ice: you know it's slippery, but you're still likely to lose grip and fall. I have seen so many people fall off their bicings during the rain. These tires have probably caused hundreds of hospital visits already.
It might be OK to use solid tires on the rear wheel, but using them on the front wheel is criminal. When you lose your front wheel, there's no way to recover. The rear wheel also wears out faster, so it might be cost-effective to use them on the rear wheel, and losing grip on the rear isn't that catastrophic.
If Barcelona had been in the USA, then Bicing would be forced to change course, because of the multitude of personal injury lawsuits. There must be a European way to solve this.
Can we all open our bicing app, and file a complaint? Maybe that will wake them up.
I’ve been in BCN this (thunderstorm) weekend, even with all the rain it was a wonderful weekend on an outstanding city. We’ve stayed on a hotel , only used public transportation and bicycles, eat always out (even breakfasts at “el moli pan y cafe”).
Compared to Lisbon (Portugal), Barcelona transportation are on time, newer, cleaner, safer, we used mostly trains & subways. Food (restaurants & supermarkets) is cheaper in Lisbon Ppl respect & are more civilized in BCN, specially on traffic, never had any issues when riding a bicycle this weekend. Not (by far) as secured in Lisbon. Lots of bicycle paths, we were really impressed 👌
We also have that high tourism increasing prices, specially houses/apartments & lots of ppl (locals) leaving Lisbon because they can’t afford the prices, lots of ppl working & living in tents in the street. We are also trying to fight that mass tourism in here. So, when staying in BCN this weekend, apart from the hotel, we tried to blend in & be like anyone living there. And it worked well, some tourists asked me for directions & what bus to catch :)
We loved BCN & will be back soon Obrigado

Just out for Open House Barcelona and the level of organisation's isn't great. Waiting times are 1h+ in most of places (not only central ones), even with the great weather we have today. I understand it is a big city and the amount of tourists and locals interested isn't small, but I've been to quite a few European cities during Open House and nowhere the queues were that long. Most places seem to allow only very small groups, even though they could easily do with bigger ones. Maybe a system of bookings or bigger groups would have worked. Rant over 😂
There was a tourist in front of me in the queue today who was being purposely difficult to deal with. He had an inflatable banana pool flat and insisted on trying to force it through the scanners without deflating it. He clearly understood what they were asking him to do (repeated "you need me to deflate this") but chose again and again to be a pain.
All this time the younger guy and older lady were patient with him and only physically intervened when he tried to push the giant banana through the baggage scanners. They did not escalate the situation, just calmly refused to allow his behaviour.
It can't be an easy job dealing with entitled assholes everyday!
So I have created a power bi dashboard collecting the 12.000 housing units that are currently on sale in Barcelona trough web scrapping and created this dynamic "app".
Id like your feedback. From a real estate point of view, what data should be displayed/ would be valuable to be shown to a real estate agent? I will custom this with your suggestions and hopefully come up with something more useful.
Has anyone else noticed that the public transport is very delayed recently. More than usual seems to have started over the summer.. everything I tried is often delayed by 10+ minutes. But it never used to be like this. Does anyone know if there is a reason?
Found it while scrolling reddit and found it fitting with the current state of things 😜
