Hi everyone,
I'm a soon-to-be new player who'd also like to use ASOIAF as a way to introduce friends without real wargaming experience to the hobby.
For this reason I'd like to ask: how would you rank the factions in terms of basic complexity to pilot them (in rather casual environments)? Are there factions with (or against) which you would consider bad play experiences to be more likely for wargaming-newbies, or aren't there really that noticable differences in their complexity/beginner friendliness? As an ASOIAF-newbie myself I'd imagine the tactics decks and starter box-compositions to play a significant role in this regard, but let me know if I'm wrong about this.
Basically I'm thinking about which 2 starter boxes to get to be best prepared for hosting fun introductory matches (the old advice "just get the factions you like the looks/lore of" doesn't really help here, as in those regards I'd be interested in almost all of them ;-)).
Thanks in advance for your responses!
Hi. I'm struggling to work out where the most up to date cards are.
Are the ones on the app all most recent? Or do I need one (or more) of the PDFs?
From a competitive stand point in season 5, which Baratheon army is stronger Stannis or Renly and why?
Hey guys, I'm wanting to try and run a Robert's rebellion campaign and was wondering where I could find some good stls or minis? I got two from Darksword that were pewter but they are much smaller than he should be. Any help would be great, thanks!
Who are the best NCUs for each Faction?
I bought the Batatheon Starter, Heroes 2, and Rose Knight's. What should I get for a Renly force next?
With just 2 months remaining this year, do we have any idea or roadmap of what’s to come in 2025? I know Martell bowmen are dropping next month, and Brotherhood Without Banners the month after that, but beyond these releases do we have any idea what we’re looking at once the new year comes around?
Hi,
I haven't gotten any of the kits before but my local place has starting stocking them. I'm thinking of checking out some of the kits as a new painting project and I notice that some kits have their faction sigil engraved on their banners and shields but others don't. Do kits come with transfers for them; I'm not a good enough painter yet to freehand anything like the canon sigils.
Thanks
I am planning on buying the Martell starter set and have enough funds for another box but am not sure whether to get sunspear royal guard, starfall outriders or hero box 1
Been looking through some stuff on asoiaf atats. Are starks really performing that poorly? What holds them back so much?
If a unit is destroyed do they still take a panic test? I have several other units engaged with the unit that got destroyed that I could play fealty to the crown and gain wounds back. Any input would be appreciated.
Gracias
So playing around with theory crafting, I really want a strong Outflank unit that can come in Rd 3, if I am not 1st player. That being said, I was playing around with some ideas about what would be the best Martell unit for that right now and I think Sand Skirmishers are a clear winner. Their damage and mobility are perfect for a rear flank unit, plus bringing them in with Outflank after using Walder Frey's ability in Rd2 can guarantee I get first activation. I can then use Horse/ Swords/Bags then to get an attack off with the unit before my opponent could answer. Dahario's cards give some minor healing and great attack buffs that could help sustain the Royal Guard while Spearmen and Outriders try to support each other on an OBJ or collapse a flank near the Royal Guard anvil. With all my ideas laid plain lol, what you guys think? Functional? Useless??
Which armies have the most damage output?
Secondly, which armies have the highest mobility?
Does anyone know the name of the miniature sculptors for this game? I seem to remember it being Dark Sword Miniatures (which I find a little odd because the style of their minis are different), but I want the name of the actual sculptors. I want to contact them directly and possibly commission some minis:)
Can anyone explain the difference? Some cards/effects support moral other panic tests. Where is the difference?
Hey guys, Im quite new (about 5 games) to asoiaf miniature game. And i play the baratheons, now as far as i understand the stag knights abbility: stags fury Gives you the effect of the current round and the effect of the previous round. My friend says you only get the effect of the current round Who is right?
Sorry for the bad writing.
So i dont fully understand stonethrower attack rules, if i roll 2 dices and have a 4+ on both of them does that mean that i make the wound sequence for each dice? So if the enemy has 1 rank destroyed i would do 4 wounds or just 2?
Thanks 😬
Hi guys, I'm looking for some input on a custom 2v2 game.
So I'm planning on doing a 2v2 but with smaller armies for each to keep the game time simulair to a normal game. So far what I have in mind is;
- 25 points per person to build their army, which would prob be a 3/1 or 2/2, depending on units.
- Turns going player 1 (team 1), player 2 (team 2), player 3 (team 1) player 4 (team 2)
- Cards draw up to 2 cards each round
- Tokens on enemy units can be used by whatever player's turn it is.
- Effects (like orders, NCU effects etc.) that target a friendly unit can only be used on your own units, not on your teammate's.
(I would say effects like Rally Banner would also work this way to keep it simple, however I am aware that this would make those effects a lot worse, so I'm not sure how to go about that).
Would this be a fun way to play? Also, are there any major rules I'm missing that would be important to keep in mind? Cheers!
In my example looking at night's watch ranger vanguards, I am wondering if I have already fewer activations vs enemy, if I should make use of the late deployment or not etc...
Secondly, is there a better place to discuss strategy, e.g. discord server or?
I got absolutely smashed today by double dragon targs. Feel like I may have come out better if I had a better secondary list to bid with. If I wanted to go to an event and compete what are some of the lists I need to look out for/build for? Maybe suggestions on how one should tailor their list building mentality for a tournament setting? Had one person tell me I should have one list thats a lot of high mobility for stuff like dragons and greyjoys.
