Showing elevation differences on battle maps?

Pretty much what the title suggests, what are some methods you use to convey elevation differences on a combat map (ex. Buildings, towers, etc)? Ideas for crafts are also appreciated!

Personally we've been using clear standing risers to position our miniatures as accurately as possible, but it is time to move on to the next step!
