The best place on reddit to talk about Asking Alexandria.
Asking Alexandria are an English rock band, creating albums that break through barriers of genres such as metalcore, electronicore, post-hardcore, and heavy metal. They’ve had many lineup changes, mainly when original vocalist Danny Worsnop left the band in 2015, and was later replaced with Denis Stoff. Danny Worsnop rejoined the band in 2016 after Stoff left for unspecified reasons. On December 15th, 2017, Asking Alexandria released their 5th album, which is self-titled “Asking Alexandria”, which is their first album featuring the return of Danny Worsnop after he left the band in 2015.

Not sure if anyone knows, but this is extremely impressive for a 16 year old. One of my favorite guitar solos ever.
Also Danny:
Of the band members, only Ben and James have appeared in films?
Quite a suprise tbh!
now i must go
UK Hard Rock Singer and Songwriter, Paul Bartolome has just released “Painkiller”
Paul- known for his work as a solo artist as well as performing and co-writing with Asking Alexandria. Stream the new video now!
This happened because I hear this awesome guitar riff. ( Funny those awesome ones are AA 90% of the time )
My apple music was opn random and played "The Black". Which i need to listen to now. That starting riff is awesome.
I think it's definitely the best album they released after 2016, but that isn't saying much, considering how the later albums were.
One argument I've seen people make is that AA is more mature now, and that might be true in a more general social sense, I don't really get that impression from this album.
The album can be summarised as follows:
"Look at me, I'm such a Psycho, and I like to Kill It with Fire. I've created a lot of Bad Blood, although I know Things Could Be Different. I Feel like I'm in a Dark Void because I have Nothing Left. I want to Let the Dead Take Me, but I'm Holding on to Something More. I need to Let Go, but Where Do We Go from Here?"
It's hard for me to take their "maturity" seriously with that level of angst.
Ignoring that, my main issue with the album is that AA spent a lot of effort to distance themselves from their earlier work by making it more arena rock oriented. Danny goes out of his way to say he doesn't like the earlier stuff, which is fair enough to him considering his past experiences. This album continues that trend.
The band, including Danny, then randomly throws in 5 second watered down breakdowns in a shitty attempt at fanservice and seeming heavy. The band are sending a lot of mixed messages there.
The album would be better if they fully committed to their preferred style for each song. Either they go full heavy or they stick with the newer direction.
This is one thing Bring Me The Horizon does better than Asking Alexandria: they fully commit to the sound they're going for. Even in their softer songs with occasionally heavy parts, BMTH doesn't water down their heavy parts, and it naturally fits with the rest of the song as a result.
Ironically, I don't even really like BMTH's earlier work, because there were better bands for the genres they previously occupied.
I love this album. Can’t get enough since months. Tell me your opinions and also if you know similar albums (I’ll start: Demos away by Drag me out)
Hey I've only been screaming for around a month! This is my favorite song so I had to cover it. Let me know what you think!!! :)
Just got my floor standing ticket for the Birmingham show. My first AA show ever so I’m excited as all hell.
What are the chances of them offering VIP packages similar to the ones they’re offering in the US tour? I’d love to meet the band tbh!
Any ideas of what the setlist might include? Gf is a big fan of "Stand up and scream" but I've seen a few people say they don't perform those as much anymore which is understandable, but are we gonna be listening to mostly the remixes in said UK tour?
Haven’t seen an AA headline show here since 2018 (self titled tour!!) so I’m desperate to go to this, but I don’t think I can justify the train and a hotel for the Birmingham date. Really hoping they add a Manchester date but idk if the demand will be there 😢
Thats all I had to say. I spent a non zero amount of time trying to figure that out myself so to anyone that may need this I'm pleased if I could've helped. Lmao.
stand up and scream is one of my favorite albums and i wish AA was there performing it, since WWWY was all about albums this year and i’m not as into their new stuff.
at the same time, i know how different they are now and that their live performance isn’t great. wondering what your guys thoughts are on this?
I completely forgot that 8 years ago Matt Good teased on Twitter "Kill it with fire" was a new band that he was starting with AA members
Edit: it was with Ben Bruce, and zack Hansen from The word alive. pretty cool!
I remember when See What's On The Inside was being released, the band said several times that it was the first time they recorded together in studio for awhile
Did they continue that trend with WDWGFH?
I can't find anything online confirming or denying this
I’ve just noticed the single ‘dead’ is on Apple Music!? That must have been uploaded somewhat recently because I’m sure it was only on YouTube?
I used to really not like Danny but these Tiktoks he’s been putting out has really made me understand him more. I still dislike him, mainly for reasons outside of AA though
Will we have sulfur after this remixes EP?
Crowdsurfed for the first time a few nights ago. It was a crazy feeling, but ever since doing it I’ve been having anxiety about it. Im a small girl (so I’m not too heavy), but I was almost dropped and I feel like I may have annoyed a few people. I asked people beforehand what I should do in order to do it correctly. I wasn’t the only one that night to do it and definitely not the first. I did it towards the middle of the set, but Danny specifically encouraged crowd surfers at the end. What are your thoughts on crowdsurfing and what’s the etiquette? Have you ever experienced anxiety after crowdsurfing?
