Question about bus 15 to Airport

I am visiting Venice for the first time. I am staying near "Corso del popolo Torino" bus stop. I found out that bus number 15 going to Airport passes through "Corso del popolo Torino" stop. My question:

  1. Can I board the airport 15 bus at "Corso del popolo Torino" stop or I need to go to Venice Mestre from where the bus starts?
  2. Can I purchase ticket on the bus? Or should I pre-book the ticket?
  3. How crowded can be the 15 bus if I am planning to board after the starting stop? Will I get boarded?

Fox Discount Department Store

I walked by it and noticed there wasn't a lot of activity. Is this store closed? Any plans with the area? It's such a cool spot and it'd suck if the homeless population overtook it.

Last time I'll goto Simon's convenience store

I've lived in the neighborhood before it was Simon's and it was a gully bodega. The guys who ran that were nice despite it being a run of the mill joint serving the locals (homeless and not).

Then it became "Simon's" which kind of represented second wave Venice. Way more expensive, bougier, but still had Venice soul. The products were imported, a decent well priced wine selection and the guys/gals working there very friendly salt of the earth old school venice types. I often stayed for a neighborhood chat after picking up some milk, eggs, bottle of red, whatever I needed in a pinch. The guys who worked the register warned that the new owners had "big plans" that did not include the guys who had been working there for some time. Shame.

Enter third wave Venice. Earlier this week, I stopped in to say hello and asked about the changes since as a provider of basic goods in the past it has an opportunity to be a hub for the local walk street and surrounding community. But alas, the new owners were unfriendly, stuck up, and really acted too cool to even engage. It's giving off Trustafarians and models only vibes.

Sure change is inevitable, but even Superba for its slickness has a welcoming vibe. Am I butt hurt? Yeah - maybe a crotchety old school venetian who doesn't embrace upscale change with open arms... but this is more than that. This is jumping the shark even for Venice imo.

I'll walk a little further next time and get my milk/eggs at Ralph's. Wine from Lincoln Wines (super friendly). And Rainbow Acres for the chips and other shit.

What other signs represent the third wave? The former Other Room becoming a Madewell or whatever the f?

Sunday League Soccer?

Hey, me and a couple of friends wants to play pick up soccer or register a team in a Sunday League. Not just a kick about, more like games 7v7 or 11v11.

Is there anything available somewhat near Venice, Santa Monica, DTLA etc?

Thank you!!

New Locals' Discount Card in Venice Beach!

New Locals' Discount Card

I wanted to share something that some good friends recently started -- Venice Insider Pass. It's a locals' discount card for those living in the 90291 and 90292 area codes, offering deals at various neighborhood spots.

More than just savings, their idea is to foster a sense of community among us who love and live in the area. They say, think of it as a way to connect with neighbors, support local businesses, and save some money at your favorite spots.

They would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions on this. Please check it out at www.veniceinsiderpass.com or share your feedback here.

Beach Hotel

Wife and I are heading out to LA last week in May and are looking for a decent hotel. I used to work out in the area in the 90s but have not been since We’d like some thing on the beach. She mentioned Hotel Erwin. $400/night for beach view. Will be there for a few days. Is it worth it or should we go to one of the other LA beach areas?

Phone pickpocketed. What to do??

I just got my phone taken on the bus from the airport... I went to a police station but they were closed because it's a Sunday and they told me to come back tomorrow morning. I've changed my password and added a two-factor authentication code. Find My is stuck to early this morning for some reason, so that's no help.

Is there anything I can do to track my phone? Any apps that I could check to see the location of my phone (Health app maybe)? Any online forums or whatever? Sorry if this is a mess!

Attempted Homicide at Venice Beach pier.

Friday night my sister was attacked while at the beach. She was beat and then strangled till she lost consciousness. It was dark so she was only able to get some of what he looked like.

If anyone was in Venice on Friday and saw anything please msg me or go to the police. The pacific division is the department handling the case.

Please be safe out there.

This man had curly hair and a tattoo under his left eye.

Looking to rent office or home office

I am looking to rent an office (if it literally is the size of a closet that's fine) to setup a workstation + monitor to work from. Would y'all have any good recommendations? Work does not allow laptop so I cannot use any co-working spaces unfortunately. requirements: internet (willing to pay for my own setup), power, high natural light, bathroom access, AC/Heat, privacy for calls

Should I move?

Hi guys, I need help from people currently residing in Venice Beach, California. I’m currently residing in Dubai, and I got selected for an opportunity at a company in CA. The position is for a Brand Ambassador & the pay for the first month or so would be like $500-700 per week. (The more you work there, higher the chances of getting promoted to the next stage & a raise)

I am very confused as to what to do & would really like your help knowing the following:

  • How much does a single person need to make to be able to live there?
  • Is it easy finding safe accommodation (I’m 23F), what would be the approx rent?
  • What are the best ways to commute within CA?
  • Should I leave everything and relocate? What’s your advice to me?
  • The company doesn’t provide sponsorship, with what visa status should I enter the US, any idea on these legalities?

Your help & advice is much much appreciated!

Should we rename this sub VeniceCA?

Every so often there are posts and information request from people who think this sub is about Venice, Italy. Would renaming it cut down on confusion?
