Visiting from UK this week, any tips or must see places for a young couple?
Hello, yesterday was my first day in Venice with my boyfriend. In the evening we went to see San Marco and 3 carabinieri stopped us, at first they started speaking italian and were very weird. They would not let us through they took our personal ID documents, written down all information form them and asked if my country is where I was born. One of them kept looking at me and would not look away.
When they were done with my boyfriend’s ID one of them took it and went away and filed some document.
They said it was a routine control but it was very unsettling and uncomfortable. Is this normal?
The police never stopped us, only the carabinieri.
PS sorry for the mistake in the title, it’s carabinieri
Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to be buried at San Michele, and what the rough costs are. Any information very welcome.
Thanks
Hi! Anyone know where to buy zines in venice? Im looking online but i cant find anything
Looks like the noline tickets are all sold out. Do they restock sometimes or not? Will probably need to wait in queue, just wondering how long they usually are?
I'm trying to find a way to get a taxi from mainland Cenice to Santa Lucia station. I've noticed that Uber lists trips for as low as 20 euros, which is significantly cheaper than the minimum 50 euros I've seen quoted at local taxi stands. Does anyone else have advice on booking taxis in Venice? The ACTV water buses are always crowded and inconvenient for a family with many luggage
I'm staying in Venice this weekend and maybe want to visit the Biennale, however the information on it is quite unclear to me and overwhelming. Does anyone know if the art is only contemporary art or if (and where haha) I can find maybe some modernist/impressionist art? Or if there is only contemporary art, some cool installations that are worth a visit?
Or do you have any other recommendations what to visit on the biennale?
Grazie mille!
Two friends and I will go to Venice in the summer to celebrate a birthday. Where in the city center can we order something like this in advance?
Can someone please recommend me the "must visit" neighborhoods. I'm on a tight budget and want places to walk and explore for free. I have seen some recommendations online, but I don't trust most travel blogs and affiliate bs
If possible, recommend me some great free attractions. Thanks a lot!
Caoi, I stopped 3 pick pockets today on the Rialto bridge stealing from a an elderly couple.
I was able to get a picture of them prior to chasing them off.
Should I supply a photo to the police? If so where should I report it to? I couldn't locate one at the time.
Hi, I'm visiting late August for 2 nights. So much I want to do in a short time, I'm considering only fitting in one of these 'big two'. If I do this, which one should I visit? Thanks!
Apologies, as I'm sure it's been asked to death but I can't find a thread.
My wife and I are booked on a Ryanair flight back to the UK from Venice Marco Polo airport at 5.55am and would like some advice on the best way to get to there from the city centre. It seems too early for buses so assuming water taxi (potentially shared?) might be the best option?
It's our visit, we're very excited so any other recommendations are welcome. Thanks.
Hello. We are currently in Venezia and just heard an alarm ringing. Is there any suspicion that the city is going to be flooded anytime soon?
Hi all! My wife and I recently got back from our honeymoon and one of our stops was in Murano. I wanted to pick up a plate set from an artist she liked, but cannot for the life of me remember their name.
It was a darker shop giving more of a art studio vibe with more mood lighting rather than the bright lighting in other shops nearby. Most of their collection were stacked matching plate sets or single dishes similar to Ercole Moretti's Rolling Stone Set or Kai Collection. Rather than the "M" that's in these ones, we noticed that one of the glass rods was left out in a section of the pattern as sort of their signature look. https://www.ercolemoretti.it/en/product/rolling-stones-set/ https://www.ercolemoretti.it/en/product/kai-b/
I believe it was on the southern end Fondamenta del Vetrai or Fondamenta Manin, but clicking on all the stores that show up on Google Maps doesn't look familiar to me. Any help would be much appreciated!
I was planning to do some museums and general walking around today but my sciatica is unfortunately causing problems as it occasionally does and it's making walking difficult due to the pain. I have a physical therapist back home but I was wondering if there were a massage therapist (that can do deep tissue) in the area that has some flexibility with same day or next day appointments either in the San Polo area or in Venice in general. Grazie in anticipo.
Just my luck I have a stopover in this beautiful city for only one day and that day it will rain all day. Any suggestions on how to spend a good day in Venezia on a rainy day?
Hi, I'm arriving at Santa Lucia Station at 12:15 on 25 April--the first day the "Access Fee" takes effect.
Any idea what I can expect--other than total insanity? Has the city or the local press detailed how this is going to be organized and administered?
Can someone walk me through this step by step? Once I get off the train, what happens next? Are there going to be separate queues for people who paid online (or have exemptions) and people madly scrambling on their phones?
I have nightmare visions of tourists (like me) backed up down the walkways between train tracks, half of whom don't even know they've arrived on an Access Fee day. Any help to get me out of the scrum would be gratefully appreciated. Links in Italian are fine.
I guess I'll be this sub's guinea pig/sacrificial lamb/intrepid reporter once I'm processed. Thanks!
Ciao a tutti! Qualcuno conosce un co-working a Venezia (preferibilmente in Cannaregio, San Polo o Dorsoduro, ma va bene anche in altre zone)? Ho provato a cercare su Google, ma non ho trovato nulla:(
Hi everyone! Does anyone know of a co-working space in Venice (preferably in Cannaregio, San Polo or Dorsoduro, but can also be in other parts)? I tried googling, but didn't find anything.
Hello! I just came to Venice and I had bought the 24hr transport pass online. It gave me a voucher code and asked me to collect the tickets at the station. But when I got down at the Mestre station, the machine won't accept the voucher code... It asks for a PNR code and when I enter the voucher code or the order ID it says PNR not existent. I even tried scanning the QR code and that didn't work either. The people at the ticket office weren't able to help me. What am I doing wrong?
Is there any reliable English-speaking florist in Venice? I want to surprise my girlfriend and need a bouquet of white roses delivered to a hotel in San Marco next weekend
Hi! I hope somebody can help me with this. I’ll happen to go precisely 2 days of May that seem to include the entrance fee. I was straight to go and do the exemption form because I believe everywhere says that if you paid a reservation at the stated places from Venice you should already have paid the entrance, but I did a reservation through Booking and honestly I can’t really tell if it was charged or not when I paid, the receipt doesn’t really specify something similar and I haven’t received an answer from the Hotel, so I am hoping someone can guide me through this.
Thanks in advance!
I'll be in Venice in early July and am looking to go to the opera, see a recital or see a chamber ensemble or orchestra play. I've done some googling and haven't found much. Is this just the off season, or am I missing something? Where do local classical music enthusiasts go to find out what's on? Thanks!
Hello. We will be in Venice in July, we have 2 full days and 2 halves (day we arrive & day we leave). This is our tentative plan for each day. Did I miss anything that needs planning? Does it look sensible? 2 young people, first time. Thank you 😊
Really appreciate your tips and advice!
