I've used the same simple methods since high school (like peer editing and sites like grammarly) but I wanted to know if anyone has any other recommendations for editing work, whether it be a specific method or software?
I am taking 4 classes in the fall which it says is 2 credits and 6 classes in the winter which it says is 3 credits. But I hate my anthro class and want to drop it, it’s a full year class bringing me down to 4 credits but I can add another half class. Am I screwed forever if I drop it?
Hello, I was just wondering on the difference between Poli Sci social science at UofT downtown and Poli Sci social science in Mississauga. When applying on Ouac i selected the missigaga campus and now on university info website i find that there is also a polisci at the downtown campus. It says the grade range is 75% for Mississauga and high 80s for downtown. Is the program different why is there a difference in grade ranges? is it just the location that makes it higher? When graduating on the diploma is it highlighted that i took my program in missisgua and not downtown. UofT is my top choice and i want my top choice to be the better program.
So my mark is in the 50s right now and I need a 63 at least to be eligible for international relations program. What should I do? Lwd, cr/ncr or should I just like attempt the final and see what happens. I know I am going to pass the course but getting a 63 is going to be a challenge.
I'm pursuing a CS minor and only have two courses left to fulfill the completion requirements. I haven't officially enrolled in it yet, but as long as I complete the required courses, I’ll get the minor. I've listed the CS minor on my resume, could this cause any issues during the HR background check?
I’m a human biology major, and HMB303 (global health and human rights) was one of the worst classes I’ve taken in uoft because of how disorganized it was. On the course calendar, it doesn’t say that it’s a seminar course, but it’s just like one. The lectures are 3 hours long and completely useless and the professor was totally disorganized and unresponsive. The syllabus wasn’t finalized until the 3rd week of class! But generally, this is what we had:
SYLLABUS
DISORGANIZATION
USELESS LECTURES
MARKING
In the beginning of the semester I requested to retake a course that I took last year, because I didn't meet the required grade (I got 55, but the minimum requirement of entry of my program was over 60). But in the middle of the semester I changed my mind and I don't think I will be applying for this program. So now that I don't need this course as a prerequisite, can I CR/NCR this course? What would happen if I get a higher mark this year like 70, would my grade from last year (55) be marked as EXT?
I'm really worried about my GPA, I'm on the verge of failing chm135, but otherwise I'm doing decent in my biology classes. How selective is grad school about GPA? Especially first-year classes.
So, I’m in my first year in POL106 and my TA just marked my essay. Problem is she copy pasted the criticism and grade even when they don’t match. I emailed her but she isn’t responding and the Prof said TAs are in charge of grading. I don’t know who else to contact, there’s no exam so I’m really lost here.
I am a US high school student (Canadian citizen though) applying to UofT Computer Engineering and their site says they require AP/senior level Chemistry. I only took Chemistry in 9th grade (Regular level, not honors nor AP) and Im worried this will cause me to get rejected. How strict are they about this requirement, and is there anything I can do about it given that the application deadline is in 1 month?
hi guys im taking 252 in the winter & i was wondering if any prior student had the syllabus & some resources to help me with a head start?
Finals are just around the corner, and I’ve just been dumped. It was a long-distance relationship, which makes it nearly impossible to reconcile. I often find myself trapped in memories, and with my intense ability to associate things, everything around me feels like a trigger.
My parents don’t really understand my sadness, and I had cut off most of my social connections because of the relationship(a very terrible desicion). Now, there’s no one I can turn to. This has seriously affected my study and review, leaving me feeling down all the time.
I’m wondering if U of T Mental Health would be open to hearing my story. I really just really need someone to talk to.
I’m SO INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED AT HOW LOUD PEOPLE ARE AT ROBARTS
like for what reason are people fully chatting and laughing loudly and hanging out in large groups at the tables in the main library. Especially the upper floors which are QUIET FLOORS. It’s actually ridiculous how many people are so insensitive and ignorant to their surroundings, if you want to talk to ur friends and hang out- GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. It’s so unacceptable that people are walking around taking phone calls or watching videos at full blast volume and just fooling around causing a ruckus. For the love of god have some respect, people like me go to Robarts for the quiet working environment of a library, did yall parents not teach you ANYTHINGGGGGG I swear I’ve seen toddlers better behaved in a library compared to these people.
It’s insane that these groups (who are always coincidentally very young… like first and second year students…) have no EQ or any understanding of social cues in a library to keep quiet. Everyone else is silent and working.. why do these groups feel that it’s ok to speak at full volumes as if they’re the only ones there????? Are yall not embarrassed??????? It’s actually baffling how people have full conversation with each other while completely ignoring the fact that they’re being extremely rude and distracting. (This specific genre of people infuriate and disgust me so much I’ve started calling them the Robarts Rats lol)
Robarts is a LIBRARY not a social club. I repeat, Robarts is a LIBRARY!!!!!!!! if you’re going to be there please respect the other people there and keep quiet. There are literally signs all around the building saying to be quiet. If you rlly wna chitchat that badly then don’t go to the library and bother people who are there fighting for their academic lives. Either do us all a favour and learn to shut tf up, or do yourself a favour and go back to elementary school to relearn how to properly behave in public.
Anyways. I digress. Good luck on finals to everyone except for the Robarts rats.
I can't believe he only spend like 10 minutes before the end of the final lecture to speed run 20 pages of slides about Observation research design (cross-sectional data, time series and panel data) that could potentially worth 20% in our exam? No one in my tutorial seems to understand what the hell those design are (And everyone were complaining the professor are speaking too fast with his thick accent). There's still over a week until the exam but I'm already panicking since I have 0 ideas about them.
I’m on my 2nd year at uoft and learned from first year that going to lectures is honestly a waste of time for me… I can never focus properly and end up zoning out and not listening at all; so for my classes I usually go through the textbooks and practice problems, which have served me pretty well for most of my classes.
HOWEVER…. I’m taking CHM135 this year and realized wayyyy too late that just going through the textbooks and practice problems was not gonna work for me at all (basically bombed both term tests). The only other way I can think of studying is to go through the lecture notes (in addition to what I did previously ofc)…. But the issue is I didn’t go to most of the lectures and didn’t watch the recordings before they took them off.
So… I was wondering if there is any kind and beautiful soul out there willing to share their CHM135 filled in lecture notes with me 😭 Ik it’s a lot to ask for but atp Idk who to ask… I don’t have a lot of friends in this class (first years tend to lean away when I tell them I’m a 2nd year) so I’m basically alone and feeling extremely hopeless/helpless.
Also, if anyone’s up to dropping some study tips for this class, that would be amazing too ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks in advance!!! Good luck to everyone studying for finals~!
Im debating switching profs for eco102 but Im not sure how good my chances are of getting in. I need this class loll
my intention was to graduate right after winter semester of my fourth year but looks i may need to do a summer semester.

I am a year 1 living in campus away from family for the first time.
So far, I would describe my Uni experience as miserable, I cannot keep up with classes since week 3, and I have no motivations at all.
I just found out that I will be at least failing one course this semester. I feel empty and lost while starring at schoolwork, not seeing meanings in it, and I have foresees my current situations (failing courses) months ago knowing I would end up being like this if I don't do anything, yet I can't bring myself to work.
And knowing myself, this feeling of unpleasant I'm going through right now will be easily forgotten in a few days and I would learn nothing from it.
What should I do?
I did really good on my 1st midterm and I want that grade to stay. The only midterm I missed was the second one. Will the grade for this only affect my second midterm grade or will my first midterm grade will be changed also?
I'm terrified for finals now and I'm scared that I'm going to fail a course(s). I just wanted to hear if anyone else has failed a course in first-year and how they went about that.
I've just been calculating my average so far but I wanted to asked if there was any way to see overall course grade in Quercus.
Hi everyone!
I have got a unique situation, so I have been suspended from UofT due to failing grades in my 3rd year. This is due to extreme personal mental health crisis (cptsd, ptsd etc.). I haven't went back to school since and has been healing. There is a very high likelihood that I may be suffering from ADHD and that's a chronic illness. Will UofT let students withdrawal failing courses from years ago due to illness? Has anyone experience this? What are your experiences? Thank you very much.
*Edit: I meant WDR = withdrawal without academic penalties.
To those who wrote the final for HMB265 before what did you do to study the first half? Re learn lecture, do the practice midterm again? How are people studying for this exam please let me know
I’m looking to do one but I don’t know what to expect or how the structure is. Do we find readings? What are the assignments like, if any? I’m considering with nutritional science department. Thanks for any answers
I just finished the sup app for uoft eng and I wasn't ableto to fully finish my last sentence for the written part. Would I penalized for this???
So I've been running a lot in the past couple of months, primarily outside on a trail close to my house but it's getting cold and icy. Now I need to start using the gym treadmills, which is a bit harrowing since I've never been before. I'm probably going to go to the athletic centre, and I commute so take that into account if need be.
My main questions are:
- Are there individual showers at the Athletic centre? Or is it like a communal situation (I'm a girl if that impacts it)?
- For lockers, you bring your own lock right?
- What hours would be the best to go (not too many people that it's crowded, but still enough that I don't stick out)?
- and what are the general vibes/any tips or advice for a first-time gym person?
Idk let me know pls I'm scared.
Is the final exam typically created by the professor teaching the course, or is it standardized and prepared by the Faculty of Arts and Science?
Is a power outage on/near campus? My building has no lights (it's about 10-15 minutes away from campus). I was wondering if anyone one else near/on campus had the same issue.
