Hi, I am currently applying and listing my top 3 choices.
New college is my second choice. I see that there are 3 residences within those, New College 3, Wetmore Hall, and Wilson Hall. I specifically want to be in the 45 Willcocks Single Room in New College. Is there a way to specify this, or is where you end up completely based on luck?
(Is there essays I have to write to apply to New College, Innis and Woodsworth?)
I'm a second-year student majoring in economics and statistics and will be minoring in cs (I'm planning to take csc165 this winter). I'm trying to find a research assistant position for next summer so I am planning to cold email professors. I have a few questions regarding this,
By the way I do have a GPA of +3.9 and know python/java/r. I'm also planning to learn sequel. Any advice would be helpful because I haven't seen a lot of posts talking about research positions in the econ/stats/cs department.
I'm planning to submit my application closer to december, but i want to do my casper test earlier- just wanted to ask if anyone has advice for how to place well? Also, since I don't have my applicant number yet I followed the instructions on the casper site, do I update that after i've gotten my applicant number?
I'm a prospective first year student and I'm in the process of picking colleges right now. I have heard good things about New College so I wanted to ask people who are or have stayed there. What are the dorms like( in terms of ac/heating, or if theyre newer or a bit rundown)? Would you say the meal plan and food in general are good? What's the proximity to first-year lecture halls like? Is it centric or far away from the rest of the school? What are the people like?
I'm trying to coast by as a depressed clown in their final year and i think some of the common courses are full on Acorn or impossible to get in via the waitlist, are there any hidden gems maybe for someone with the mental fortitude of a goldfish??? Would appreciate some recommendations
Can I work out at the goldring centre or is it always busy with varsity teams? Some of my friends said there are always varsity teams working out there so it’s closed for other students. Do any of you have experience with this? I’m tryna find a different place than athletic centre cause it’s mid 😭
I'm a student at UTSC and our nutrition course there is pretty hard (with Dr. Beaudry) and I was looking to potentially drop the course and instead take it at St. George because it's a program requirement for me (I'm currently checking with our program supervisor). Our prof is a research prof and she's super friendly but her tests are insanely difficult because they're very specific to tiny details in the textbook (which she assigns about 40 pages of dense reading a week on top of supplementary material) and some questions are based on her research.
Anyways, just wondering how NFS284 with Prof Matilda Laar is instead in terms of exams, assignments, reading/course load etc, as I'm open to going downtown if the experience is better. Her Rate My Prof is pretty mixed...
I graduated from university in June this year and I'm currently waiting for my Post Graduation Work Permit (PWGP). For now I don't have a job so getting an OHIP doesn't seem possible. Until October I had UHIP's extended coverage but I'm not covered by any provider.
According to the government's site, it's mentioned that in order for me to be eligible for OHIP, I have to have temporary resident permit (case types 86 through 95 only) or be working in Ontario under an employer. The issue is that PGWP is case type 56 and since I don't have an offer, I'm not eligible to get an OHIP.
This is why I went to a some private insurance providers like manu life and sun life and all of them required me to have a provincial insurance before applying to their's *. Isn't OHIP the provincial insurance for Ontario and the whole reason I'm getting private insurance is because I'm ineligible for OHIP? Please let me know if there are any gaps in my knowledge.
I'm certain that I'm not the only one in this situation which is why I was wondering how can I get health insurance.
* I'm not allowed to post pictures but here's what the website says when I try to get a quote from Manu life here "All applicants must be covered by a provincial/territorial government health care plan."
Hi, I am currently applying to UofT undergrad either as an economics or rotman commerce student. I need to put 3 top residences. I looked into each one and so far woodsworth looks like the nicest one. I wanted to know what you guys thought of it, (pros/cons), or if you wished u got into another residence!
These last few weeks have been really depressing and as a result I haven’t been productive at all. Is anyone feeling the same way? I guess I wanted to ask how do you get things done even when you are not feeling great.
Hi tmr im going to the St. George open house, so just wanted to know if the Jackman Law building is also open for public view.
Im definitely not a party guy. Im sort of an introvert and I’m fine with making new friends and getting more involved socially but I’m definitely not looking for a frat house or something. (to be honest I dont even know if what she said about St. Michaels is true) Im a religious person so St. Michaels sounded appealing and I’ve seen the area before, it looks pretty nice. Ive applied to Rotman but to be honest with you I’m not all that confident I’m gonna get in, so my secondary default is Social Sciences. My question is what college should I apply too, with all my characteristics states above. (Im also planning to go in residence)
Recently, because I want to switch a math course out, I waitlisted in STA347 winter 2025 and right now I am 39 in the waitlist. The class size is 216. The waitlist wont close until January 14, 2025 so i have about two and a half months. What are my chances of getting into STA347 so I can switch that math course out?
I am interested in applying for Munk since I have been told it is the best policy related school if you want to get into the private sector. While looking at the programs I noticed the way they are designed are quite different, with the MGA having a capstone and the MPP not. I also found the stats shown in the Munk brochure where people end up career wise being quite different. The MGA had 50% of grads working in the private sector, where most MPPs working in the public service. As someone who is much more interested in quantitative policy, but also wants to break into the private sector, can someone explain why the difference in outcomes between the programs? I wasn't expecting such big differences for programs that I thought were quite similar in content. Also any suggestions on which program to apply for?
How is the accounting -core, intermediate and advanced any different from the undergrad degree? Looking for some advice from someone who has graduated with a business degree but later decided to pursue another through the program (assuming they didn’t do a dual degree)
Before the first week of the fall term. I have two goals.
I've planned to study everything before lecture, and to review everything after class.
In reality, I didn't prepare my first week. I'm left behind. Second week: I didn't study before lec. I spending too much time on the internet. Time goes by. I put little effort on every assignment. I got quite good mark for math and stats class. However, I'm totally lost for cs courses.
I didn't make any friends. I didn't approach anyone and no one also didn't approach me to become friends. I stopped my goal of having friends because I have to study.
I always plan to study for the entire day but I always ended spent too much time on my phone. I regretted, but because of it I didn't study because I already fail not to wasting time. I planned to study hard tomorrow but after the day came I loss my self again and I ended up didn't study.
I'm lost, I lost my motivated to study. I postponed my time. So that I didn't even study math and stats. I didn't study any course. (I did study but it was only 8% of my expectation so i considered it as not studying)
Before the term started.
My target was studying at least 8 hours eveyday. In reality. I only studied for less than 4 hours a week. (Out side of lectures/tutorials/labs).
Time goes so fast so that 9 weeks that went by unconsciously.
I think I'm bad at CS. But, I didn't put efforts so I shouldn't say I'm bad unless I've tried my best. I didn't tried my best, this is probably my worst effort.
I felt so bad and I only have 5 weeks before final exam.
I won't kill myself. I will keep trying until the end. I won't give up.
Just a reminder for me and for everyone.
We not only do things that make us happy. We don't have to do things that we like. We do things as our responsibility. Always be responsible for every act we did. Always think what will we do if everyone can see what we're doing. We won't procrastinate if there's someone else who can see we procrastinate.
Motivation is not enough. Motivation can goes away. Motivation can change. I feel motivated for tomorrow to study. But after I slept and I wake up. I don't have the motivation again.
Just do the thing we already planned to do. Make our rule for ourselves. If we planned to study for 4 hours for example. Do it no matter what. Even if we sad, overthinking, curious on other people lives on social media, just study and complete all of our tasks before doing anything that isn't according to our plan.
"I'll do it later => I'll never do it"
The more we postpone our plan, the more depressed we are, because we're piling up our task with less time to do it.
"Time is not waiting for you".
Life goes on, no matter how bad you are in the past. You'll never able to go back to your past life to fix your life.
You can only do what you can in the present to fix your future life.
I stayed in this cycle because I always blaming my old self (from week 1 -> week 2->...->week9->now). This wasted too much of my time by overthinking it and being not productive.
I'll stop blaming my old self and just think of what I can do in the present for my future.
I have 4 Coldplay Toronto seats concert tickets.DM for details
I've used ibogaine and dmt to quit my addictions including other drugs and phones and I've been wondering if anyone knows where I can find people who actually study these in depth and would be willing to talk to me about my experiences
Finally quit the drugs after years long battles with mental health. I've noticed damage likely to my basal ganglia and cerebellum? I now have the physical coordination of Joe Biden after a 3 day orgy but I've made huge changes to health diet and lifestyle. I've been whipping up fresh ahh tilapia and fish for the omega 3 fatahh acids, eating dry whole wheat bread with the texture of airplane chicken, straight fresh fruits and veggies, etc. I been running and working out daily. But my mind and body is not healing fast enough for midterms and finals. 4 days clean with a will and determination harder than a navy seal's cok who has been 6 months at sea. I am trying to find someone who specializes in neuroscience or anything related to the brain who would have the time to talk to me. Please, any advice?
first year thinking of taking psy100 next semester but i’m not sure if I should. I’ve always loved psychology but I absolutely suck at math and I’m mid at bio. Anyone have any thoughts or advice on whether I should take it or not?
I'm a 2nd Year Rotman Commerce student at Trin who had a 3.9+ GPA in 1st year, and after summer school, it dropped a little above a 3.5. Haven't gotten any news about automatic scholarships (and I missed the deadline today for the award application form). Am I not getting anything this year?
Im so screwed and so mad that my final exam for the semester is happening at the exam time pretty much when i booked my flight to leave for christmas and now im going to miss my family vacation. Last year I booked my flights too early and had to stay back and now the opposite happens i guess i just have hella bad luck with this stuff.
Hi guys, i just got my RSM100 midterm score which is around 70%. I'm pretty worried about it since my final grade should be higher than 67% in order to stay in RC. I think final exam should be harder than midterm right? My question is that what's past years' class average of "business plan competition”. This is the only thing which may save my GPA, if it is as hard as my midterm, I realy don't think i can stay in RC in my second year 😕. Could any upper year RC students answer my question please
My IB predicted grade is 39/45 but my gr11 grade is 30/45 because my teachers didn’t use boundaries when grading students will this really affect my application? Can I explain this somehow to uoft?
Could you clarify if the Master of Education program will still consider my application if my reference letter is submitted after the 10-day deadline? Or will my application be marked incomplete and reference letters not accepted after this period?
Hi, I'm currently an undergrad student in Arts and Science. I'm interested in management, but don't intend to pursue a business/HR/marketing/consulting-related career field. I recently found out about the Certificate in Business Fundamentals ASCER2400, which motivated me to enrol in MGT100.
While I plan on enrolling in all four required courses as electives, a less than ideal midterm grade has got me considering assessing MGT100 as CR/NCR. This would however void me from qualifying for the certificate...
What is the certificate specifically – is it listed on your transcript upon completion/graduation?
Is it worth the effort – will it potentially improve your employability in a non-business related field?
Thanks 🙏
Hi so I have a project to do and I was looking at a different department in hopes of emailing and asking for their input, but I came across a syllabus and was wondering if I could ask a prof from another department for their lectures notes to help w/ my project if I cite it properly? Or is that wrong?
Hi,
I sat a deferred exam in august of 2024, its now November and I still dont have a final grade. Just curious if this is normal and how long it takes on average for deferred exam grades to be released.
